I just finished BISENTIENT by Patrick O'Connor. The story itself is fine with multiple plotlines and various characters intersecting, the story switching rapidly between the real world and the realm.

Although I generally enjoy books of this genre, I had some problems with this one. My main issue is one of verisimilitude. Also, almost all of the characters seem to adapt to new situations very suddenly, even when the new situation is clearly unbelievable. The characters are not really fully fleshed out and for my personal enjoyment I would like them to show a bit more complexity, a mix of the dark and the light so to speak. That, of course, is my personal preferance. I think the book would really have profited by more collaboration beween the editor and the writer.

Thank you NetGalley and Blackbeard Independent Press for sending me a DRC of this book.
