This is another light yet interesting read from Guillaume Musso.
The book starts with a funny, witty dialogue. The first scene in a hospital is brilliant. Musso certainly knows how to write dialogues. The characters are unique and distinctive. Loise is a 17-year-old medical student and Mattias is a middle-aged ex-policeman. What do they have in common? Not much and a lot. As usual in Musso stories, the plot picks up the pace and won't slow down until the end. Twists and turns are what the author is known for, however overcomplicated these can be. Here the ending is not too confusing, although some elements could have been omitted. Sometimes simplicity is the best.
There is one scene in which Matthias behaves in a way that is completely weird and hard to understand. It`s when Matthias and Loise are in a car (just to avoid the spoilers) and he flips the story upside down - why?
It`s a good read perfect to give your tired mind a little break.
Musso throws it ALL in. No stone is left unturned, no holds are barred. Well after throwing it all in, he gives it a stir and a shake and give us a fast paced enjoyable read.
And yes, belief might have to be suspended as we follow the enmeshed characters and their stories but he does it in an easy to read manner.

Ok so you have to leave your sense of what's normal and real at the door but this is a classic French thriller! It's got twists, jeopardy and lots of ' what on earth is going on' . A popcorn thriller and that's a good thing.
Guillaume Musso is the modern master of the French thriller.
If you like your thrillers fast- paced with more twists and turns than a roller coaster then Angélique will hit the spot .
Former policeman Mathias Taillefer wakes up in hospital to find a young girl by his bedside requesting his help to uncover the truth behind her mother’s death from a balcony.
Initially refusing to help, Louise Collange eventually persuades him to assist leading to a chain of events that uncover the actions of the elusive Angélique.
This is a dark story of deception; and greed - there is a lot of violence and it is hard to actually empathise with many of the characters as they seem quite heartless from the emotional damaged they’ve received.
Too many coincidences and plot devices that enabled the chain of events means this is an “escapist thriller “ read - suspend belief and enter a dark world with glimmers of light
