My ten year old daughter loves the Beano and has also read these books. When she heard there was an audio book she was very keen to get listening! The stories are told clearly and slow enough for her to still grasp what is going on - but without losing the fun and excitement of a children's book. I would highly recommend.

How does a comic work, as an audiobook? That's obviously the burning question! It just does. There's enough description in the prose version to make it work perfectly. This is a great way to introduce reluctant readers to chapter style books and more mature language.

There are editorial interjections that are quite fun (Lemony Snicket style) and clear, distinct voices for each character. There are explanations of each character, along the way (for newbies), and all-in-all, it's a really fun listen.

Beano: Dennis and Gnasher

This selection brought back so many fond memories of sneaking a peek at my brother's Beano comics when I was much younger.
He used to get them every week and I couldn't help having a read and a laugh at all the brilliant escapades that Dennis, Gnasher and the whole gang got up to.

Gnasher was obviously my favourite character - but I loved them all really!

In these stories, we are treated to more mischievous capers and lots of the usual toilet humour.

I love how they cater for the youngsters who are just starting out on their reading journeys, with lots of silliness and scenes that will be relatable to the target audience.
But I also loved that there were lots of things that were aimed at older kids and even those parents who are either reading along with their children - or sneaking a look when they're in bed!

The writers have done a great job of keeping the stories similar to the old comics - the characters felt authentic to those I read about over 40 years ago (and probably those predating me too!) - but also infused the plots with modern sayings, items and events that would be relatable to youngsters of today.

A brilliant selection that had me chortling the whole way through. This would be perfect to keep the kids quiet on those longer journeys or to pop on at home for something a bit different to do during the holidays.

💕Thank you to the author and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

Super fun audiobooks to keep children amused, and adults too. This is the second volume of Beano Dennis and Gnasher audiobooks that I’ve listened too. The three stories will entertain school children of all ages. Lots of familiar Beano Dennis and Gnasher characters, entertainingly outrageous story lines, lots of puns (and some parts that adults aren’t meant to listen too’ - but I did!). Summing up great fun!! Thank you to Harper Collins Uk Audio and NetGalley for the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
