After 2 years of widowhood, Harper is persuaded to join an internet dating site. Despite meetings in the local pub, she doesn't find anyone suitable. Then she feels that she has a stalker and begins to wonder if it can be someone she met online. While clearing out her dead husband's effects, further secrets are revealed. This is a dark and creepy novel culminating in descriptions of torture. The setting of Norfolk in winter, with dark nights and Halloween, adds to the tense atmosphere.
Recommended for those looking for a dark and twisty thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
For me this book wasn't a walk in the park. I had a hard time connecting with the main character who I thought was a bit of a whimp really and rightfully depicted that way (being afraid of her own shadow but we don't have all the clues as to why and it's not moving fast enough in my opinion). But then by the second third of the book, everything gets a twist you would not see coming and quite frankfly was a bit bizarre and you start suspecting everyone around her. I enjoyed the latest part of the book but the two third of this book I found really boring I'm sorry to say. Thank you for the gift of a free book, NetGalley!
This is the first book I have read by the author Keri Beevis. The story centers around Harper who is a widowed author. After two years of being single, her friend Megan talks her into trying online dating. This proves to be disastrous for Harper on so many levels.
The story takes you on a roller-coaster ride with intrigue and terror on every turn. Imagine a stalker that has his eyes on you around the clock.
Wiil Harper ever be able to trust anyone after learning disgusting details about her late husband?
If you love books by Karin Slaughter, you will love this one! I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story. It was a dynamite thriller! Thank you to Net Galley for sharing this book with me.
Firstly, thank god I'm not single. And if I ever find myself single, I am staying that way!
After her husband died in a car accident with her best friend, Harper has become a bit of a recluse. Charlie's death as well as the discovery he was having an affair with her friend is a lot to deal with. Eventually, Harper is persuaded to join a dating site and that's where the fun (?) begins!
Date after disastrous date leave Harper (and me!) wondering if there are any good men left out there and just as Harper thinks it can't get worse, she discovers she hardly knew Charlie at all,
Running alongside the main story, are chapters from someone who is stalking Harper. She feels she is being watched and strange things are happening in her house. I tried so hard to work out which one was the stalker, but as always, Keri Beevis brilliantly weaves in lots of red herrings and i was guessing right up to the reveal. And it was good to discover that not all of the men Harper dated were creeps in the end!
Dark and twisty, this will definitely keep you guessing!
4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Keri Beevis and Boldwood for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Keri Beevis has written another tense edge of your seat thriller.I was drawn in from the first pages read late into the night.#netgalley #boldwoodbooks.

Two years ago, my whole world was ripped apart when my husband and best friend were killed in a car accident in Norfolk. Since then, I've struggled to come to terms with my overwhelming grief and to understand why they were together in Charlie's car that fateful day. I know I can't carry on with my reclusive lifestyle, hiding away, alone in this big house. I have to find a way to start living again. Following a friend's advice, I sign up to a reputable dating site, UptoYou. She tells me it's the perfect way to meet someone, and when I quickly get a match, I believe she’s right, I'm surprised how easy this is. But it seems I have a lot to learn. Anyone can hide behind a computer screen, using the sinister mask of anonymity.
This is a gripping psychological thriller. There were plenty of suspects to choose from. It's been two years since Harper's husband and best friend died in a car accident., so her friend persuades her to join a dating site, and soon, dangerous things start happening to her. I was sitting so far on the edge of my seat that I nearly fell off, as this book has all we desire and more in a thrilling read. It's dark and twisted. The story is told from Harper and a guy she met on a dating site.'s perspectives. Someone does not want Harper to find out the truth. But who and why?

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #KeriBeevis for my ARC of #TheCottageByTheSea in exchange for an honest review,
Another great, suspenseful book by Beevis, who is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors for thrillers.
This book is a bit of a slow burner. A lot of time is taken to set the scene and introduce all the characters, then all of a sudden things start happening very quickly, and the last 20% of the book is very tense! Personally, I felt the ending was a bit rushed. I was hoping to see a bit more being done, it felt a little bit too 'easy', considering what the baddie was supposed to be an expert... I'm finding it hard to really say what I mean here without giving anything away so I'm keeping it as vague as possible.
But apart from that, I was very invested in the story and couldn't put the book down because I needed to see where it all was going. If you like thrillers, I definitely recommend you picked this one up (and also look back to the author's previous books!)
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Keri B always sucks you in. No matter the subject it’s a great book from start to finish with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat!
I'm still on the fence if its a 4.5 stars or even 5 star- read for me!! Harpers Story was thrilling and at no point I did expect what would happen and who would end up being the Villain in her Story. I'm glad that we were able to get to see her having kind of a happy ending. Great Story and not my last read by Keri Beevis.
For me, this was a book of two halves. The first half is a slow burner, where we are introduced to a host of characters and join Harper on many disastrous dates, which take place at the same pub. This was all a bit repetitive - I lost interest and started to skim read. I also found it hard to connect with Harper's character, she isn’t very likeable, and I do wonder if the author had given more details on the state of her marriage to Charlie earlier in the book, if that would have helped me bond with her a bit more. Then we have the second half, where things really pick up. I was gripped by the chapters written from the point of view of the antagonist – they were chilling, and I needed to know who the mystery man was. The reveal was brilliant, and of all the suspects, he wasn’t even on my radar!
Harper's husband died 2 years ago in a car accident and she is finally ready to venture into the world of online dating. The Cottage By The Sea follows Harper's disastrous dating journey as she quickly realises that behind a computer screen, no-one is necessarily who they seem.
This story is told from two points of view, Harper and the 'bad guy', I really enjoyed this dual narration and was shocked when it all came together.
Keri Beevis has the incredible ability to write such creepy stories that I find it hard to sleep! She is an author that has me staying up later and later to keep reading and I couldn't get through this quick enough.
I found Harper to be an interesting character and I enjoyed her journey into the online dating scene; however, this book has made me super thankful that it's not something I need to do - terrifying!
My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.
This was my second Keri Beevis novel and she didn’t disappoint with another gripping psychological thriller in Cottage by the Sea.
The story blends suspense, mystery, and psychological drama in a way that kept me guessing right until the end. The dual narrative was unnerving and raised the tension level to keep me reading.
The story centres around Harper Reed, a widow struggling to overcome the loss of her husband, who decides to give online dating a try. What starts as an attempt to move on turns into a nightmare as she encounters stalkers and dangerous characters.
Overall, Cottage by the Sea is a well-crafted, fast-paced thriller which would be recommended for anyone looking for a thriller.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
Keri Beevis is an auto read for me and she did not disappoint with this one! It kept me guessing the entire time and was completely unpredictable! There was so much packed into these pages! You just never really know someone.
Thank you yo Keri Beevis, NetGalley, and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Oh wow! This is a gripping psychological thriller that have a unique plot. It’ll keep you on the edge of their seats with its suspenseful plot.
Harper is still trying to move on from the death of her husband. But after two years, She decides to finally move on, using a dating app to meet potential partners. It is here the real nightmare begins. All she finds is dangerous people such as stalkers.
The book has multiple POV’s mainly of Heather and a stalker. These chapters of this antagonist were so creepy and I tried , to figure out who it might be the whole time. And the pace, plot is amazingly written and the author gripped us with her story telling ability.
Overall, THE COTTAGE BY THE SEA is a thrilling novel that combines mystery, suspense, and psychological drama.
Harper Reed takes to a dating site to ignite her love life. Oh Nelly, does she get more than she bargained for.
Caution: Contains suspense that is off the charts. May need resuscitation and/or reminders to breathe.
Never in a million years could I have predicted where this story would lead. Wow. WOW. KB never disappoints, in fact, she just gets better and better.
I need to rest and recover while I wait for what Keri has in store for us next.
Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Keri Beevis for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. Keri Beevis is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. Every book I read of hers just gets better and better. The cottage By The Sea is everything you would want from a psychological thriller and more! I really felt for Harper and was so impressed with how she managed to overcome everything in the end. I especially loved how she bonded with her dog and he helped her to heal. Another fantastic story from a wonderful storyteller. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

*5/5 Stars - Gripping Thriller with a Jaw-Dropping Twist!*
As a huge fan of her previous book 'Nowhere to Go', I was excited to get to read and review an ARC of her new book! Harper's story had me hooked - a widow trying to move on through online dating, but with a creepy stalker lurking in the shadows. There's a dual POV of both Harper and her mysterious stalker. You'll want to keep reading to find out who her stalker is. And there's a crazy twist and secrets to be revealed! Highly recommend you give this a read when it comes out in October!
Note to author and publisher: I found some errors to be corrected in the book

This sentence doesn't sound right: 'But I promise you that you once you’ve done it, you will be so proud of yourself.'
I think it should say, 'But I promise you that once you’ve done it, you will be so proud of yourself.’
