I was so excited to read another Sarah Ready book in this series and it did not disappoint! Can you imagine wishing for your wildest desires and that wish coming true?! Now imagine that wish was being married to your hot, rich boss? In this super fun book, that’s exactly what happens.
Anna has been cleaning Max’s chateau for the last 3 years and over this time, she found herself falling for him even though she’s never really had a conversation with him. Before wishing she was married to him, she’s noticed what books he reads, what snacks he eats, heck she even knows he likes mint toothpaste. But as the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for!!
Even though this story is whimsical and not realistic, it was a lot of fun and had such feel-good vibes! While it is a fun story, it had some pretty spicy 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ scenes, so keep that in mind before reading. Overall, I gave it 4.5 stars and can’t wait for the next one in the series!
I listened to the audio book of this one and I think I fell in love with Max’s voice!! 😊 Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
I received an advanced listening copy for review. This review is my own opinion.
I think I've read 3/4 of this series (I really need to go back and read the first!) and they've all been so fun! I love the connections between the series, and I'm excited to get Max's story after Fiona's refusal of his proposal in the last book.
What if you got everything you wished for? Anna does, and it...kind of works out? She wakes up after being fired from her job cleaning houses (Max is one of her clients) and making a wish on one of his magical necklaces (he owns a jewelry company). Anyway, the wish sort of works but they both want to go back to their real lives, except another wish goes screwy.
I'm describing it HORRIBLY (you should read the official blurb 🤣) but I love the sort of vague magical world Sarah Ready has built, and I love seeing how everyone gets what they want and it goes sideways and then works out in the end!
The whole series is pretty light and easy, and I would definitely recommend them! There's a bit of spice, too.
Thanks to Netgalley, Sarah Ready, and Swift&Lewis for the ALC!
This was charming and quirky, as well as my first read from this author. It gave me y2k romcom vibes. I didn’t like Max at first but beneath that harsh exterior he really did have quite a bit of substance to him and I ended up enjoying his character. Both characters really complimented each other and this was quite a bit steamier than I’d expected. Theres subtle sexual tension for the build up and when it hits, it left me feeling giddy. When he puts together just how much they’ve unknowingly interacted in the past, all the puzzle pieces fit seamlessly and you don’t want to stop rooting for their HEA. I’ve never been to Paris or Saint Tropez but the scene setting really set the ambiance and I loved all the little details given. When Max makes his own wish leading to miscommunication the next morning, all hell breaks loose again and it was just the right amount of chaos needed in the middle to keep the pace until the end. I loved this story and I’m adding more books from this author to my library now.
Overall, a good book which I enjoyed, which I probably could recommend folks for a light read.
Things I loved:
1. Pacing. Things moved along, not a lot of stalling. I thought some moments in the middle of the book (after the second wish came true) felt a little repetitive and I might have skipped half a chapter. But overall pacing was on point.
2. Location: Set in Geneva with some trips around Europe was just really great and refreshing.
3. Narration: really loved female narrator, she was good with accents, intonations. just perfect!
Things that could be better:
1. Love building: felt like characters just fell in lust or have fallen in love based on pre-conceptions, “memories”. Not to be too skeptical, but Anna’s love was not very well built upon.
2.MMC’s compliance with the new reality: we spend a couple chapters following Anna around while she made sense of the new reality, but MMC was kindly quickly got onboard and horny.
Thanks for the opportunity for the good listen.
Thanks you NetGalley for sending me this ARC!
This was my first experience with this author and the start of the series for me. The book works as a standalone, but there are mentions of characters for the previous books, which got me intrigued to check out the rest of the series!
The romance between Anna and Max is super fresh, light, and really enjoyable to read. However, I do wish we could have explored Max a bit more-most of the story is from Anna's POV. It would have been great to get deeper into his character and understand what made him open up to love and passion, especially since he was so against it at the start.
I'd definitely recommend adding this book to your TBR, be it in book or audiobook format. I switched back and forth between the two formats and loved the narration.
I can't wait to read more from the series!
This series is made of the fluffiest, puffiest clouds (that are also a little bit horny) making this the perfect palate cleanser for whatever you're reading right now. And the audio is amazing. Well done, whoever did the casting.
As for the story, I am not a fan of enemies to lovers, nor do I jive with morally gray make love interests. Also nor do I like "that" kind of ending for a romance. But. I'll make an exception this time.
There's a lot of emphasis on the scenery, which I enjoyed, but after a little while, it becomes noticeable. If you really, really love Paris and really, really want to imagine you're cleaning a big ol' chateau, you're in luck.
Excellent story with a "new to me" plot that kept me hooked, once I was able to get past the initial start of the book. It started off rather slow and, at times, it felt like the author was a little too focused on setting the scenery. Given the number of lavish details she provided, I could quite literally play this audio in my head as a live action movie. You could tell that the MMC wasn't just a grump. He was a grump who was desperately clinging onto the notion that he couldn't handle love or passion, not that he didn't want it. However, the moment he got even a glimpse of it, he was done for. You see this play out in the back third of the book and it broke my heart for him. It broke for the FMC as well, as you could see that she is unable to let go of the idea that he wants her only because of the wish, not because of who she has become to him in such a short amount of time. As far as the narration goes, I would have loved to have gotten the MMCs POV, especially considering his voice was beyond soothing. However, I didn't feel like I really missed out on anything with the audio as the FMCs narrator was fabulous at portraying several accents/people.
Thank you, NetGalley and Sarah Ready for the opportunity to listen/read to this ARC. I have had a hard time with getting into audio books, but it seems like Wished has brought me out of that slump.
Anna Benoit is utterly, completely in love with Max Barone. The problem? She cleans his house and he has no idea she exists until one fateful day of finding a necklace…and accusations of being a thief. Little does she know while holding the necklace, her wish to marry Max comes true. She wakes up again in a topsy turvy world where she and Max have been married for years and everyone believes that, and yet both of them know the world isn’t real and it will take everything they can think of to reverse this wish and reset history.
I enjoyed this romance and love the different magical themes Sarah incorporates into romance, but felt this one fell a bit flat compared to its predecessors (LOVED Ghosted and Fated). Still great though and the narrators were fantastic!
Thank you to Swift & Lewis for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
I would like to thank NetGalley for providing me with an ebook and audiobook ARC of Wished by Sarah Ready. All opinions are my own.
Wished feels like a Hallmark movie, just without the Christmas festivities, in the best possible way.
What I enjoyed:
-The writing is imaginative and descriptive enough to place you right in the middle of the story. It's very beautiful and whimsical, no matter their destination.
-The FMC is selfless and kind and the MMC is brooding and aloof, an amazing start to the story.
- I was surprised several times with where the story went, expecting the obvious to happen and being taken off guard in several instances - something which boosted my rating tremendously.
-The female narrator's voice was pleasant, even when she was doing the male voice.
-I loved the male narrator's voice, although it was only used in the beginning and the epilogue.
-I really liked the boss and the sister and their dynamic.
What I didn't enjoy:
-I felt like there was something missing from the initial POV from the MMC and him just accepting the magic of this wish and sweeping her away to see where it would lead. It felt out of character, even for the brief moment we actually got to know him outside of the FMC POV.
- There were several times where words were repeated back to back (nipple being an offender during specific chapters), sometimes 3-4 times in the same paragraph which took me out of the story. It's a bit nit picky but since I listened to the audiobook for the majority of the story, it stood out.
Overall, if you love the charming warm fuzzies of a Hallmark movie, you will love this story and the characters within.
Just finished the audiobook Wished by Sarah Ready, and it’s definitely my favorite in the series! The magical realism in this story was beautifully done, and it all came together so seamlessly that I couldn’t stop listening. The narration was fantastic, and I loved how everything was tied up perfectly in this final installment.
When I started reading this book, I thought it was just a romance novel, but I was wrong. It's so emotional and beautifully written that I can't express it.
I adore Emmi and Dorene.
I loved the story of Anna and Max, I even cried a few times. The descriptions of Paris and Geneva are also worth highlighting, they are wonderful. I'm glad that this book turned out to be much better than my expectations of it.
Romance lovers will enjoy this Cinderella story.
Anna Benoit cleans house (well, chateau) for Max Barone in Geneva. And she is hopelessly in love with him, though he doesn't even know her name. Max is head of his family's jewelry corporation and single.
As a child, Anna was hooked on the "I Dream of Jeannie" television show and she believed in magic. Her mother worked hard after the death of her father. When her mother's second husband didn't work out, Anna contributed her wages to the family to help support her mother and beloved younger half-sister. One day, Anna makes a wish on a valuable and storied necklace. When Max sees her with the necklace, she is summarily fired. Deciding she didn't love him after all, she is shocked to wake up in the morning as his beloved wife of seven years.
Recommended for those who enjoy feel-good romances and have read Ready's other books, though this one is a bit too steamy to recommend for young adult readers, which is a shame because they would like it. I must admit though, this one didn't appeal to me as much as previous books of the author, The narrator did an excellent job voicing each of the characters.
This is the fourth book in Sarah Ready's Ghosted series. Each book has some sort of magical realism to it. I have loved each of these books.
Meet Anna, our heroine, she is a cleaner of the Barone Chateau. Three years ago, she came face to face with it's owner Max Barone and it was love at first sight for her. He has not noticed her in those three years. One day, while Anna is cleaning Max's office she sees a necklace that is supposed to grant wishes, so Anna wishes to be married to Max. Chaos ensues. This was a fun adventure to go on with Max and Anna, I enjoyed every minute of it, especially the characters, and the settings of Switzerland and France.
Thank you to Netgalley and Swift and Lewis Publishing for the advanced listener copy. The audiobook had two of my favorite narrators Will Watt and Amanda Ranconi. They brought the characters to life, and I could not stop listening. I highly recommend this book, it's filled with love and magic.
I loved how interesting this romance was. Absolutely not what I expected. I thought this would be a Boy Meets Girl in Paris type of situation. And while it is kind of that, it is also three different Love Story plots with the same characters in one book.
There is just a splash of magic in there, in order to make these timelines work, and I really liked that the alternative plot points made you reevaluate the characters motives and lives.
Although in each of the romance plots, the same characters are interacting, each one is in a different way. From loathing, to untrusting, to Absolute un interrupted deep admiration and love for each other, these characters seem to go through everything and refined each other over and over.
The narrator was great and also the settings were gorgeous, as novels and Paris tend to be. From the Swank Parisian city streets, to picturesque markets, and sprawling estates, the characters take us on a full tour of the country while re falling in love over and over.
I loved this book! Just when you think you have this book figured out, it changes. It's such a unique idea for a book. Amanda Ronconi and Will Watt are fantastic as narrators. This is my first Sarah Ready book, if won't be my last.

I don't know if it was just me, but this book gave me "Howl's Moving Castle" vibes with the entire LOVE wish. And I really enjoyed it. The spicy scenes were *chef's kiss*.
The audiobook was good, I just wish we got more of the male POV narrator. I think we only heard him maybe twice. I wanted more of Max's POV and how he felt about the wish. The female narrator did a great job bringing the story alive. Highly recommend.

»A romance tour-de-force and a masterclass in trope subversion and authentic connection«
When Anna makes a romantic wish upon a magic necklace about the jewelry tycoon who's house she cleans, she hadn't expected it to come true - until she wakes up as Max Barone's wife.
This book drew me in SO deep. The writing is remarkably real, poignant and emotional - while still easy to read, Wished gripped me so much harder than I expected. Ready subverses and uses tropes so magnificently that she moved me to laughter and tears both while reading. The romance is wonderfully crafted and both touching and heart-warming - Anna and Max are truly a couple the reader can fully root for.
The romance is magical but realistic, sexy but sweet - Ready balances characteristics that should conflict so effortlessly that she makes them complementary. This was a book that I COULD put down - because I wanted to be able to come back and experience more of it. More of Anna, who's genuine nature does not make her clueless, just kind. More of Max, who is jaded for all the right reasons and yet ready to be swiped off his feet. More of Geneva, more of Paris...
I would usually include a critical point in this part of my review, but I genuinely disliked nothing about this book. I am sighing happily as I write this review.
Ready's novel is set in Geneva, Switzerland and features several other European locations, all lovingly and immersively described. the atmosphere of the book is romantic and colourful, without losing the edge of believability that grounds it as a contemporary romance novel.
Ronconi's narration is personable and comfortable, effortlessly bringing the reader along in Anna's emotions along the way. The additional P.O.Vs from Max in the Prologue and Epilogue were a wonderfully charming edition, Watt's warm-voiced narration the perfect accompaniment.
If you read any romance book this year, let it be this one!

A touch of magic in the real world and a really cute love story? Sign me up. I received an ALC from NetGalley and haven't read the rest of the books in the series, but this was perfectly fine as a stand-alone. I didn't feel like I was missing anything. (And will be checking out the rest of the series because I really enjoyed this!).
After meeting Max from his own POV in the beginning, I was honestly worried because I didn't see how it would be possible for him to grow on me, but he did!!!
I wasn't the biggest fan of Max's narrator, his voice just felt over the top and not natural to me, but we only have two chapters from his POV, and I really enjoyed Anna's narrator.
If you're looking for a cozy, sweet read with a little magic and spice- this is worth checking out!!!
Thanks again, NetGalley and Sarah for the opportunity to listen and review! 💕
With Wished, the fourth book in Sarah Ready's charming series of Ghosted, I can officially declare myself a true fan of the series.
As with the previous books, this one doesn’t disappoint—delivering exactly what you’d hope for in a romcom.
While the story feels a bit different from the others, it’s still incredibly sweet and heartwarming, making it a delightful addition to the series
Thanks NetGalley, the
This is the fourth in Sarah Ready’s adult romcom series. She continues to have fun with adult fairytales, stories about finding love and soulmates. Warning don’t listen to the prologue unless you have time to listen to the whole book. Because you will be totally hooked and probably hate yourself. Once more we dip into a little bit of fairytale magic, mis-understandings, love at first sight but not acknowledged, romance and spicy adult action. All the books in this series can be read as a stand alone. But why limit yourself to just this one when they are all so much fun to listen to. Thank you to Swift and Lewis Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
