Anna has developped an instant crush on her employer, Max Barone, the owner of the Château where she works as a maid. Three years into this one-sided love story, nothing remarkable has happened. But everything changes when Anna makes a wish and finds herself in an alternative reality, where everyone believes that she and Max are a happily married couple... Well, everyone except Max. Together, they try to find a way to get back to their "normal" lives, but do they really want things to go back the way they were ?
This was a fun read with wholesome Christmassy vibes (I know, it has nothing to do with Christmas, but I can picture a Hallmark adaptation of this for the Holiday season). I should've rated it 2.5, but I'll round it up to 3 because I feel like I have to acknowledge the author's efforts to create an emotional bond between Anna and Max. I liked how the protagonists took the time to talk to each other (and it was real conversations, not just the usual trauma dumping that we often see in the romance genre), it helped make their feelings for each other more believable.
However, I find it extremely odd that there was not a single mention or allusion to their class difference. Yes we're in the 21st century, but the guy is a billionaire, he comes from old money, and she is a maid. How come he didn’t think at any moment that she was after his money ? Given his upbringing and the fact that he never was close to anyone outside the super rich, how is he so cool with the idea ? I'm NOT saying he shouldn't be cool with, I'm saying that it doesn’t seem credible to me that no one in this book addresses the massive classist elephant in the ballroom.
Also, Anna seemed very immature to me, her believing to be "in love" with someone she basically doesn’t know, then starting to do embarrassing (or should I say creepy) things like reading what he reads and learning about his hobbies is giving middle school crush at best (or disingenuous, manipulative gold digger if we don't give her the benefit of the doubt).
🎧 Audiobook : 2/5 just because they subjected me to that awful prologue. What was that ? The woman's voice was fine though.
Thank you NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing for providing me this e-arc for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC Wished by Sarah Ready. It was a cute romance book. That's really all I can say about it. It didn't wow me, it was a good read.
This one wasn't for me. The male voice narrating was too quiet and difficult to make out at times. The story on the whole was unbelievable.
I loved the plot of this book! I absolutely LOVED the male narrator I could listen to him read all day. He brought the story to life and had me wanting to listen to his chapters on repeat. I love this fairytale type vibes this storyline gave off.
Sadly, this was my least favorite of the "Ghosted" series. Every other book I have loved. "Wished" was still entertaining and kept me listening, but I didn't buy the relationship between Anna and Max. I felt like they never had a real connection in their actual timeline.
Even at the end when she finally got back to her original life and saw Max again, Max remembered her from the two days they spent together in the alternate universe. In that alternate universe, he started developing feelings for her because of the memories he was having of their marriage in that lifetime. So when it ends Max's feelings are still kind of based off of "wish" timeline Anna, who was his wife.
I'll still continue to read the series if there are more, this one just wasn't for me. Thank you, NetGalley for the advance Audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I have read three other books in this series. This book is the fourth and each one is just such a good unique well done well written story of love and compassion. When I started reading these stories, there were certain side characters that I was hoping that this author gives them their own story. Now this is the story for The side character I was hoping for and I got to read it! It was lovely and I got to listen to the audiobook narration of this story and it was fantastic. The narrators did a wonderful job. This ending was chef’s kiss perfect!!
Very cute story full of love and second chances! The characters really grow to a true heartfelt love after starting with a surface level relationship and you can really feel both the chemistry and the hesitation of each character throughout the book. The language used was very descriptive and made the scenes very easy to imagine even as someone who has never been to Geneva, Paris, or St Tropez!
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this title. I have managed to get a copy of all four Ghosted books by Sarah Ready from NetGalley and thoroughly enjoyed them all.
Loved this book! This whole series really! It reminds me of cinderella, but it really does not follow that story at all. The characters are wonderful and realistic. It's got a bit of spice, charm, and magic. Everything it takes to make a good romance.
4.5 stars!
I was pleasantly surprised by this listen. I loved the narrators, I think their personality and tone really helped carry the characters.
This book gave me a little break from my typical romance reads with a little supernatural flare, and there was a surprising bit of spice. Anna was a delightful main character with a contagious, happy-go-lucky personality. And who doesn't love a little "what if" wishing?
I love this series; each book can be read/listened to as a standalone!
'Wished' by Sarah Ready was a win for me. I feel like I jumped right into the story, in which Anna, wishes to be married to her emotionally unavailable/doesn't even know she exists boss. I think Ready did some fun things, playing around with the rules and interpretations of the wishes, and I enjoyed both characters immensely.
I was lucky enough to review this book in audio format. I enjoyed the production and found Amanda Ronconi and Will Watt's narration to be very engaging. I feel Ronconi's portrayal of Anna was particularly memorable and unique.
Thank you to Sarah Ready and Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC for the audio ARC of 'Wished' in exchange for an honest review.

Anna gets to wish and her wish is to be married to Max. Her wish is granted except that she doesn’t remember the 7 years of her marriage to Max.
My Take:
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC for reviewing. I preferred to listen to the audio version as I find it convenient. Well, I think it was the best decision that I took. To start with Narrators have done a fabulous job. Each and every character has been narrated differently and keeps the pace accordingly easy to identify. I have become a fan of Amanda. Special mention to her for a wonderful narrative and hence the perfect rating.
After laying my hands on a spiritual book, I wanted a light read and this book was just perfect. Pace of the book is fast with no faltering or dragging anywhere. Even if it did, due to narration, didn’t feel like. I was glued to the book over the weekend and looked forward to completing the story quickly. Characterisation is not very realistic but they all are adorable. A perfect weekend light read it is.
This book will remain in my memory due to multiple factors, to start with it’s detailed description making the image of scenes vivid in the eyes of readers, division of books in 3 parts and very simple storyline. I admit that the end of the story was quite predictable (I could predict it). There are absolutely no complications in the story and it’s a story that takes place within a period of a week. 60% of the story takes place in the first day itself.
Overall, a nice book but a great audio Book. I will re-listen to this book mainly for Narrator.
You have the chance to make the biggest wish of your dreams come true, but you know it's not what the other person would want. What would you do?
Anna has worked cleaning Max's Chateau for years, and has fallen in love with him. Max doesn't give her a second look. She has necklace and makes a wish on it and the rest is history.
Sometimes we have to take a chance and make our wishes come true, regardless of what the outcome may be!
I did not read the first book in the series, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book and gave it a strong four stars.
Thank you to Netgalley for the audio ARC of this delicious read.
This book started out kind of cute, and then I started to enjoy it. But by the end, it fell flat. I finished it last night and this morning I can’t even remember how it ended. I don’t think I ever felt very invested in the characters or even liked them.
“Wished” is romance the way it ought to be written. I thoroughly enjoyed my time listening to the audiobook over the last few days.
Before I get carried away, my thanks to the publisher for providing me with an arc for this book through NetGalley.
So! My biggest praise: the characters. They felt believable and were genuinely likable. This is a big thing for me in a romance novel, because if I can’t buy into your characters, I can’t buy into the relationship. But the characters here felt fleshed out and had depth, the characterisation felt consistent; they had values they stuck to, but they also developed and changed, too.
The heart-to-hearts the FMC and MMC had were endearing and sweet; something that - strangely - I don’t see very often. They actually had common interests, views and beliefs, and could share those and have meaningful conversations.
I enjoyed the progression of the relationship thoroughly, and once I got into the book I didn’t want to stop. The pacing was perfect for me. My only issue was the amount of smutty scenes. Now, this is of course personal taste, but I felt like there were too many. At times, I’d rather have seen more personal conversations or perhaps a date instead.
The plot and conflicts were actually quite engaging, too! Strange, but whimsical and fun.
I would wholly recommend this book - and after reading this I think I’m definitely going to go back and read some of Sarah Ready’s other novels.
*♡Thank you to NetGalley and Sarah Ready for the ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion♡*
A very unexpected, delightful read!
I thought going into this is would be the same old story of girl wishes for boy to fall in love with her and after a little tension they live happily ever after. I was pleasantly surprised! 3 wishes in total and they do get their happy ending but in an enjoyable and satisfying way.
Anna is a very believable FMC, and i respect all the decisions she makes throught the book. Max is the grumpy MMC that I am always guaranteed to fall in love with time and time again!
Amanda Ronconi does an excellent job at narrating, I would definitely put her on my list of favourites!
Will Watt narrates the prologue and epilogue from Max's point of view and his voice sent shivers down my spine!!!
Overall Wished is a easy, cosy read that you dont have to take too seriously. A fun ride from start to finish, with some amazing spicy scenes 🫠🌶️
Sweet, sexy, silly - charming and funny! This was a kind of magic-realisme and kind of second-chance rom-com with all the steam and tension you need!
I worked very well as an audiobook too. Defently reading more of Sarah Ready ;)
Wished is the fourth and final book in the Ghosted series. Both narrators did an excellent job. This is a rom-com about a wish made upon a sapphire necklace and what happens when what we wish for comes true. I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series - which can be read or listened to as stand alone books.
The storyline and characters made for a humorous, fun audiobook.
Highly recommend.
Wished by Sarah Ready is an immersive and fun journey that was hard to put down. This would be my second favorite of the Ghosted series with the first being Fated. Granted, Fated was my first introduction to Sarah Ready and I was clueless with the series. Quickly, I began reading all the books.
I was excited to see a continuation for Max, one of the characters in Fated. There were multiple twists where I couldn't predict what was going to happen, which made the book that much more stimulating. New characters were added that had interesting backstories and dialogue.
I'd like to thank NetGalley, Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC and Sarah Ready for the advanced copy.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!
What a cute book. I really enjoyed it. This was my first by this author and will not be my last. Great writing style! A fun and easy read.
