This was such a cute story between two sisters! They enjoyed the first snow of the season and then enjoyed their time together after as well!

"Maddie and Mabel Ready for Snow" is an adorable story of two sisters preparing for the first snowfall of the season. They discuss what snow they think is best (first vs big vs surprise), and then they make wishes for it. The next morning, they get dressed to play in it and make a snow person and snowballs, and sled down the hill. After playing, they come inside and drink cocoa and make paper snowflakes. I think this would be a great book for the early winter season when a family is preparing for snow - it is a great way to talk about winter fun and discuss what things the kiddos would like to do. The story is charming and lovely and the illustrations are precious,

Maddie and Mabel are sisters. Kari Allen has done it again with a simple and wholesome early chapter book. What kind of snow is your favorite? Join Maddie and Mabel as they discuss and explore and play!

The illustrations are fun and descriptive and the story is repetitive and perfect for young readers.

This sweet, and precious book was adored by my four kids! They just absolutely loved the story, and the illustrations were absolutely darling. It was such a wonderful story. Makes me excited for winter! It'd be a great Christmas gift for a book!

This marks the first time my child and I have read a Maddie and Mabel book, but this can be read as a stand alone book. We have heard great things about the series and they make sense after having read this book.
The illustrations do the heavy-lifting - Maddie and Mabel’s expressions and gestures are funny, authentic and nuanced.
The whole idea for getting ready for, being excited for snow is adorable.
The characterisation is lovely as well. As for the text, I understand the choices of words and rhythm to a large extent and I can totally see at-times the-nursery-rhyme-like content is a great fit for toddlers and children up to age 5.
My child is older, and they adored the book. and asked to read it to their younger cousins and friends.

Maddie and Mabel are cute sisters. The language felt like easy reader words. After the first chapter, though, the language became harder, and I wonder if a reader would get frustrated. Also, one line took me out of the book where it says, “Maddie and Mabel made and played”. It sounded a bit odd. Overall, the characters were cute, the plotting was fun. The language was a bit off at times. And the pictures were adorable. I’d love to read more Maddie and Mabel books!

haven't read the other books but you do not need to. This was an adorable book about playing in the snow and being nice to each other.

I would have rated a 3 but my kiddo asked (when I finished) if we could read it again tomorrow. The double M names got very repetitive to say over and over. But if he liked it that much that is notable!
