This book was shocking, I did NOT expect things to go the way they did. I got fooled by the characters and I fell into the web of lies. The reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the ending was not it for me, it wasn’t very satisfying.

An incredibly gripping psychological thriller with one giant twist at the end that will definitely give you whiplash! Very well written!

Thank you Sam Vickery for this amazing book. I thought this was going to be the same old same old. I didn't read the blurb and went into the book blind. What a ride. So many twists.

Our 2 main characters are Elise and Maya. They meet at a surrogacy group. Maya is pregnant and is a surrogate, and Elise is waiting for her sister's baby. Her sister, Julia, is having a baby for Elise. Maya and Elise become close bonding over the whole surrogacy thing. Maya's intended parents are pushy and want to barge into Maya's life whenever they feel like it. Elise's sister, on the other hand, is distant and Elise is worried the surrogacy won't go through.

There is a huge twist toward the end that gave me whiplash. I had to sit and think about the ending for awhile because I thought something different was going to happen. The more I thought, the more I liked the ending.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I highly recommend this book. Happy reading !

The Perfect Baby - Sam Vickery
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“There were so few joys in this world, why cut them short when you found one?”

She wanted to become a mother, so she made sure she did, even if the baby wasn’t hers to take. This story follows Maya and Elise as they contend with their rather opposite situations, before realising they have more in common than they thought.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Perfect Baby and found myself racing through it, needing to know what was happening! I haven’t read many thrillers involving pregnant women, even less so surrogacy, but I enjoyed the uniqueness of the concept and found it was a nice change of pace and sub genre.

I will say it is definitely psychological! I flicked between loving and hating Elise, Maya and Julia. At times I found myself enraged, then at other times I felt understanding and empathetic towards them instead. I enjoyed reading from the different perspectives due to this, as well as enjoying the flashback chapters which fed small hints towards the plot and provided suspense and tension.

I thought I had worked out the twist, however I could not have been any more wrong. I was completely blindsided and felt the urge to go back and read everything again to see how I possibly missed it!

The short chapters, fast pace, emotion, hints, twists and turns made this book completely captivating and I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sam Vickery and Bookouture for sending this advanced copy of The Perfect Baby in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
📍This book is out 27th September 2024!

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Perfect Baby. Honestly I was confused for 50% of the book, I couldn’t figure out what exactly was going on, BUT then WOW!!! When it came together, it totally blew me away! The library scene was not realistic, too coincidental. I was upset with Maya’s decision, did not agree at all, nothing will change my mind with that. The second half of the book, was totally insane and I loved every bit of it. Try sticking with it, you will definitely be glad you did.

This is quite a dark and twisted read which surprised me, but in a good way! There are too many samey books on the market lately but this one by Sam really stood out. Well writen and believable, I really enjoyed it and as a mother, understood the desparation!

Nothing will stop Elise from being a mother. Literally nothing.
I very much enjoyed this. I've read a couple of thrillers about surrogacy before and the first main twist didn't surprise me much. However, all the others after that did surprise me. The main characters are somehow all relatable and you feel slight empathy for all of them, which I don't think I've ever felt before. The ending was BY FAR my favorite part. It is very emotional and dark and I was unabashedly rooting for Elise.
My only critique is it drags a bit in the middle, could've been shorter and it would've been just as remarkable.
I definitely recommend it and I'll be checking out Sam's other books!

This book was full of tense mystery. There was a constant rumbling of what was going on and hints about the characters pasts. The story kept me hooked all the way through.
I found both the main characters Maya and Elise very likeable and even when the back story is finally revealed, yes my opinion changed but it left me with very mixed thoughts based on what I learnt.
This is definitely one of Sam Vickerys best book. I'd highly recommend it.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This book was definitely a roller coaster ride and the twists were amazing! I actually went back a few pages at times to make sure that's what I just read. It ended in a cliffhanger so I'm hoping there will be a second part. I would have given a 5 star review but the "f" bomb was a little too much for me. It definitely was a spin on a typical surrogacy story.

Firstly, thank you to Bookouture, Sam Vickery & Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for honest feedback!

I genuinely couldn't put The Perfect Baby down! When I first started reading, I thought I knew how the story was going to go but I was realllly wrong!

The pace was perfect & Sam dropped in little nuggets of information throughout to keep you invested until the very end. It was dark, emotional & twisty and I felt every emotion that the characters were feeling.

I didn't see the twists coming & it's not often I read a thriller like that so I absolutely loved it!

I would definitely recommend it & I'll be checking out Sam's other books! Thank you!

Another great book from this author with good characters that kept me involved in the storyline.

I think this is a different read to Sam's other books but just as good and I can thoroughly recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

My Oh My! This was such a good book! The story moves at a nice swift pace and the story for each of the three characters are very interesting. The surprises sneak up on you and then they just keep on coming until the explosive ending! Loved the ending! I thank Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

Wow this book really went somewhere I wasn’t expecting very quickly and actually shocked me with the ending and that doesn’t happen very often these days. This is a fast paced drama that would make a great TV drama as it just keeps you on the edge of your seats and does not let go. It follows two women who meet at a surrogacy support group one woman is due to give birth to a baby she is having for a lovely couple who can’t have a child of there own and the other one is waiting for the birth of her child that her sister is carrying for her. As they both near the due dates fears and truths have a habit of being revealed and is there more to why they have become friends than first seen. I loved this book!

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. Although the start of the book was quite slow, with little being revealed, the second half was a tense and completely unpredictable ride. It is hard to review without giving away spoilers, but the plot worked perfectly and felt truly unique rather than rehashing well-worn tropes. It was emotional and the characters Vickery created were very realistic. The ending left me hungry for more.

Wow. The Perect Baby is an adventure. I felt like I was on a roller coaster reading the book. The twists and turns keep you on track. Elise meets Maya at a surrogate support group. It is for the parents and surrogates. Elise can't have any children and her sister, Julia, is caring a baby boy for her. Maya is a surrogate for Nina and Will and is carrying a girl. The story pulls you in like a spider in a web. A must read in September. The book was read in a couple hours.
