Beautiful and bittersweet!

Alison Saft bought Clarion and Milory’s story to life wonderfully.

This would have hurt a lot more if I weren’t already familiar with how their story ultimately continues in Tinkerbell so I’m really glad I knew that going in.

my heart is breaking.
this book was absolutely beautiful. It was so magical. I couldn’t put it down. I listening to the audiobook and felt like the narrator did such an amazing job.

clarion & milori have my heart. their story was so beautiful. the yearning, the sacrifice, every single moment they had together had me in awe.

I remember when I found out this book was coming out and the sheer excitement I had for it! Tinkerbell and her friends are so important to me and I love their stories very much. Secret of the Wings is my second favorite movie (Legend of the Neverbeast is first and makes me cry every time).

But this did not quite live up to my expectations. I know this is a YA novel but it felt...cheesy? Clarion was nearly unbearable to me. Having just tried to read another Allison Saft book, it makes me wonder if I just don't like the way she writes her characters. It took a long time for the story to get going and lingered far too long on Clarion telling us how unprepared she was to be queen and how bad she was at using her magic. I think if it had been edited down a bit, I might have liked it more.

It was odd to me that Clarion was only seventeen, considering how long fairies can live. Seventeen years seems like a ridiculously insubstantial time for her to learn everything she needed to know.

I will say that I was immensely pleased that someone else also thought that Artemis was queer.

Thank you to NetGalley for making this available in exchange for an honest review!

I wanted to love this one more than I did! I grew up on the classic Disney Fairies books, so this book mainly hit the nostalgia homerun for me. Wonderfully crafted and care was taken with these beloved characters.

I'm automatically approved for Disney books and I watched several of the Pixie Hollow Tinkerbell movies and love fairies so I figured I may as well request Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft which is set in that Tinkerbell universe. I liked the idea of a Young Adult novel about that topic since most of those books are written for a much younger audience even though I also grew up with Tinkerbell.

Wings of Starlight takes place during the lead up to Clarion taking her place as Queen of Pixie Hollow. It shows how her powers development and some changes in how the different seasons interacted with one another. And overall it was an interesting read, especially as Clarion comes to realize her true power source.

However, I really don't know how I feel about the age rating. It's meant for Young Adults, likely the younger set so ages 12-15 or so as the primary target. There are some frightening scenes and some romance but nothing major. I also feel as though most of the writing style is for even younger than that so honestly I would have liked it to either be fully for even younger kids or changed a bit to work better for older ones.

Overall it was an okay read but not as good as I was hoping for.

This book was such a nostalgic and magical journey! It was so much fun returning to the world of Pixie Hollow. I’ve always been a fan of a good, heartbreaking star-crossed lovers trope. The pacing felt a little slow sometimes, and I wish there had been more focus on the romance. However, if you grew up watching the Pixie Hollow movies, I think you'll enjoy this. It is definitely YA, but I still found myself enjoying it as an adult.

As someone who was absolutely obssessed with the Disney Fairies franchise, this is a must read book! This book explores the relationship of Queen Clarion and Lord Malori before the events of the Pixie Hollow books and movies. Their relationship was already one of my favorite from the series and I was so happy to see it expanded upon here!

I am such a huge fan of Allison Saft's brand of fantasy. Thank you so much to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me read this early!

As someone who grew up wanting to live in Pixie Hollow, this book was everything to me. It really captured the magic that I loved from the films, but also brought to life new characters/new perspectives of characters. I LOVED that it still connected with the film and wasn't one big happy ending that didn't match - it was bittersweet which I loved. Also this cover is the prettiest book cover I've seen in a while, truly incredible.

if it made me cry it's a 5/5

"How beautiful, to see the exact moment he fell in love with her. Perhaps he had always loved her, on some level, ever since that night he allowed himself to hope again."

oh how i loved this!!! ive never seen a peter pan/tinkerbell/tinkerbell-esque disney movie so i was unfamiliar with the characters but it was just like any other fantasy novel. from the beginning i was enraptured by the whimsical prose and setting, the heavy description, and the world building. saft has such a beautiful writing style and i adored it with this setting. yes i know this is based after a disney movie but it truly set such a beautiful atmopshere that was so reminiscent of what i adored as a child.

i loved clarion. she was such a level-headed character which was so refreshing. as she approaches coronation to become queen of pixie hollow, she begins to uncover truths of her predecessor and the world she lives in which she was not aware of before. i thought the slow unraveling of this loose thread was done spectacularly! thus thrusting her and milori together....

god, milori. he is the epitome of what we love in a romance hero. he was just so perfect and kind and wonderful. and please THAT SCENE?????? WITH THE WINGS?????? i wish i had my book with me so i could quote what he said. the way he loved clarion was so pure and just so beautiful.

i loved how fluttery their romance made me feel. while the stakes were high, clarion was simply sneaking away to see about a boy. it was so reminiscent of young love and Saft did such a fantastic job at evoking those emotions. and please... the way i was sobbing at the end was UNPRECEDENTED and very ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (view spoiler) im not sure if it was accurate to the movies but as i said i never saw them so i didnt know what to expect!!!

overall i 10000% recommend this!! for anyone looking for a whimsical and beautiful book riddled with gorgeous prose, a dreamy setting, a flying owl and a beyond dreamy MMC with interesting politics.

As someone who enjoyed the Disney Fairies and Tinkerbell, this book gave beautiful insight into Queen Clarion. This was sweet and romantic and cozy, and I loved the story.

I'm not extremely familiar with the Disney Fairies shows or fandom but I knew and enjoyed enough to request this and I'm glad I did. Allison Saft remains a wonderful writer and this was truly a lovely, incredibly romantic story. I'm a little taken aback by how much I enjoyed 'Wings of Starlight' and how much it's tugged at my heartstrings. Disney Press continues to pair up great stories with the perfect authors!

Thank you to NetGalley and Disney Press for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, this one just didn't work for me. It took me several days to get even 20% into the book, and hardly a thing had yet happened. I just couldn't engage. It just went on and on about how Clarion is supposed to take over as queen, but she's not much good at it, and then we have more agonizing about her not being good at it. Oh, and something bad is coming. That's it. DNF.

It's important to take fandom books with a grain of salt and to manage expectations. I'm so so sooo happy to say that this book exceeded all that I had and is a perfect addition to the Pixie Hollow cannon!

Secret of the Wings is my favorite Tinkerbell movie and I've always wondered about the circumstances between Queen Clarion and Lord Milori's romance. This story answers all reader questions with a sweet and magical story. If the reader has seen the original subject matter, then the book is bittersweet because they know things work out eventually, but years pass with the two apart. If the reader hasn't seen Secret of the Wings, then they need to go watch it RIGHT NOW to have some modicum of closure.

What I liked most about this story is how accessible it is to people who never watched the movies. They can still experience a cozy, adorable, fantastical story. The movies are just the cherry on top if the reader wants to explore more.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for my honest review. I did purchase a copy of the book before I finished the e-arc because I was enjoying it so much.

If you ever watched the Tinkerbell movies and thought "boy, the queen of Pixie Hollow and the guardian of the Winter Woods have a lot of chemistry," this is the book for you. The story follows Clarion, a fairy who's being primed to take over as the queen, as she comes into her own and tries to protect the other fairies from a dark magic called the "nightmares". Her curiosity leads her to the Winter realm, which is isolated from the Spring, Summer, and Fall realms in Pixie Hollow. That's where she meets the handsome and kind warden of the Winter Woods, Milori. They have a slow burn, sort of forbidden romance that is really lovely to see unfold. I also really liked the side characters, like Artemis and Petra, who had their own situation going on.

I could certainly read more novels that take place in the world of Pixie Hollow - I hope they're planning on releasing more!

Lord Milori and Queen Clarion?! Yes please!!

Take me back to my childhood with this exquisite trip back to Pixie Hollow. While it is heartbreaking, it is so well written! I could not put it down. You get a Pixie Hollow experience like never before. Adore this book!! Seriously if you were a Tinkerbell girlie this book was made for you. But bring tissues.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review,

Congratulations are in order for Ms. Saft for publishing her fifth book! That’s an incredible accomplishment, especially considering how successful all her books have been.

Wings of Starlight takes readers back to Pixie Hollow, set a few years before the famous Tinker Bell makes her appearance. In this prequel, we get a closer look at Queen Clarion before her coronation and finally understand why, despite all four seasons coexisting, the fairies cannot cross from one realm to another.

While this would make a fantastic introduction to the world of Pixie Hollow for new fans—especially those unfamiliar with the Tinker Bell movies or books—for readers who already know Queen Clarion and Milori’s story, it might not be as satisfying. At least, it wasn’t for me.

I truly enjoyed the writing style; it was beautiful and immersive. However, I felt that the story had too much going on while simultaneously lacking something essential. For me, that missing piece was the romantic development between Clarion and Milori. As a reader, I never really felt the moment when they fell in love—it just seemed to happen without much buildup.

My biggest disappointment, though, was the way the plot handled the accident and its consequences. Given the implications from the movies, I expected something different, something with more depth and emotional weight. Instead, it felt rushed, and the emotional impact didn’t quite land the way I had hoped.

That being said, Wings of Starlight still has plenty to offer. It expands on Pixie Hollow’s lore in an intriguing way and delivers a fresh perspective on Queen Clarion’s past. While it didn’t fully meet my expectations, I can see it being an enjoyable read for those who want to explore this world from a new angle.

A fun edition to the Pixie series. I adored this and felt like I was back in time snuggled up in bed reading this to my daughter 15 years ago. It brought me right back. It was also well done and true to who Queen Clarion becomes. I did like seeing her more youthful path and how she made mistakes along the way but she had to make sacrifices for her throne and all of Pixie Hollow. I definitely recommend this for any Disney fan.

Thank you to NetGalley, Disney Press, and Ms. Saft for the opportunity to read an ARC of Wings of Starlight. An honest review was requested but not required.

Don't hate me but I've never seen any of the Pixie Hollow movies/shows/whatever. I've never seen Secret of the Wings, I'm not a Tinkerbell stan, I didn't grow up on this. I had absolutely no context for Clarion prior to this book. For some reason I thought this was an adult fiction book, although it's definitely young adult and I'd go so far as to say would be middle-grade appropriate, reading-level wise.

I really liked Clarion's emotional growth process of learning to stand up for herself and do what she knew was right and (don't hate me) but I thought that that part, and the her friendships with Artemis and Petra, were even better developed and complex than the relationship with Milori. I'm not really sure where or when the feelings moved past attraction on either of their parts. The portions in which Milori takes Clarion to experience Winter were my favorite. Ms. Saft really has a knack for making each season shine and spotlighting everything appealing about each season.

I'm still really unsure why Elvina spent so much EXHAUSTIVE time teaching Clarion everything about governance but chose to keep the Nightmares a secret. Did she think Clarion would be better able to handle them if she... knew nothing about them at all? Likewise, I really didn't understand Clarion's decision at the end. It seemed to go against everything she had learned and realized and grown into in the rest of the story. However, I assume - and a quick Google search has mostly confirmed - that Ms. Saft was constrained by the parameters of the plot already in place, which is unfortunate.

I can see this book is *eagerly* awaited by Pixie Hollow fans and I think it will mean a lot to them. It is beautifully written, I will say. I didn't love the ending but that's the plot of the overall Pixie Hollowverse, not the author's choice. I'm willing to bet that Pixie Hollow/Tinkerbell fans will eat this up.

3 1/2 stars

THIS BOOK. I am forever broken 💔

Never in a million years would I have thought that I’d be getting this book but here we are. This was everything I needed and more!

YEARNING, YEARNING, YEARNING. I am undone. Allison Saft absolutely delivered on everything I wanted from this book. The forbidden romance and secret sunset meetings and angst!! I was SCREAMING and crying. Everything was just so vivid and it truly felt like another movie! I am going to need this entire book portrayed word for word, scene for scene on my TV right now.

I immediately had to watch Secret of the Wings IMMEDIATELY after finishing Wings of Starlight to console myself. TEARS! There were definitely tears! The mere CRUMBS in that movie are never enough but my god this book was so full and wonderful and everything I’ve dreamed of for years.

Even if you weren’t a Pixie Hollow girlie growing up, I think it’ll be so easy to fall into this world. Allison Saft brought the world alive on every page and it was just so magical.
