I liked book 3 the most. The story involving romance between characters with a significant age gap is appealing to me! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was such a lovely read between two lost souls and I completely fell in love with Lana and Alex. I felt myself resonating with a lot of Lana's insecurities and really enjoyed her character development throughout. Her relationship with Alex's son, Brodie, was extremely heart-warming and just the sweetest parts of this story. Lana and Alex were definitely meant to be and it was a joy to watch them become a little family.

This was a well written and engaging book with two well developed characters. I enjoyed how different Lana and Alex were and their character development throughout the story. Their chemistry was sizzling from the start, yet also sweet. I particularly related to Alexander trying to make it work as a single dad who lost his partner, and rooted for him to have a happy ending. This series has been really addictive and this was a great addition to it.

This was such a good book. I really enjoyed it. More than I thought I would. I loved the writing style. This book had me hooked from page one. This is a first for me by this author but will not be my last!!

I really enjoyed this story - I thought that it was a really good football based romance!

The book had a well developed storyline that was strong and well planned romantic read.

This is the third book in the series but it reads fine as a stand alone (as did the second book)..

I found that the book was well written and I liked the character development.

A wonderful romantic and sexy story.

it is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended and I am really looking forward to book four!

4,5⭐

Once again, I devoured and adored this book. I'm definitely getting these books when they come out in November.

I succumbed to Lana's strength of character, her vulnerability and insecurities, having to balance her family problems with her career, watching her shell crack to see her cracks, seeing her discover and love herself in a more kind way. She makes mistakes, goes astray, makes amends and always tries to do the right thing.

As for Alex, if some of his reactions were not those of a 40-year-old man, I adored him. Appearing strong, unflappable, planning his new life with his son, I loved seeing his certainties and his plan crumble, seeing him see beyond the wild-girl image the media portrays of Lana, his way of believing and having faith in herself. It was wholesome and passionate.

I just love the way Sasha writes her stories, narrating the lives of her characters, the trials they endure and the battles they fight on a daily basis, all the while conveying important messages and reminders. It's simple, addictive, tender and passionate, the kind you can read in one sitting until 2am.

Do y'all remember the version of me that had her life together and stuck to her bedtime? Well, that was before this book.
I read it front to back, unable to put it down (okay, my math teacher forced me, but it was unwillingly). Once I reached THE chapters, I didn't even realize it was 2am already.

Lana and Alexs love story left me giggling and crying, the angst towards the end made it out of the pages into my chest.

And can we talk about Alex's son? Brodie is the sweetes and purest soul I have ever met. I'm sorry Alex, but you weren't the best man in this book, it was your amazing son.

Alex is a close second though. He took the responsibility and stepped up for his kid, he had fait in Lana, when everyone else saw just a girl that would mess up anyway.
But she is so much more. She is brave, kind and even though she had her issues, she was good.

Fair warning, this book is spicyy and ohhh, it was good.

The last thing I have to talk about is Sasha Lace's writing. CAN WE TALK ABOUT IT?? I adored every word she wrote, everything whispered between the lines. She is a mastermind!

There is not a single thing I didn't love about this book and you better believe I already requested the rest of this series. My TBR is screamind at me, but I can't hear it over the hapiness I got from this book.

A thousand percent 5 star read, AMAZING😍😍

This was a fun, spicy sports romance series! Loved the interconnected characters and how they had real problems, but it was still an escape read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this e-arc

I sadly had to dnf this as much as I wanted to enjoy it, because single dads is one of my favourite tropes, I just couldn’t get on board because the Scottish stereo types were too much for me.

The one night stand was too much right off the bat because his sister had literally just said it had been 5 years but if it had been and nothing had happened it’s just too rushed to have happened that night. She didn’t need to lie and it was just a weird set up!

These keep getting better and better. Are there drugs in these? Because holy cow, I am addicted.

This one was amazing. Lana hurt my heart with her tenderness, insecurities and just how hidden she kept her light. I LOVED her relationship with Alexander, it didn’t feel forced in any way and their chemistry was just perfection.

I’m a sucker for single dad books and I just adored Brodie, I would like more of him somehow lol he’s such a little firecracker of a dude.

This latest addition to the series centers on Lana, known for her rebellious streak, and Alexander, a seasoned Scottish goalkeeper and widower raising his child alone. What starts as a spontaneous night of passion quickly turns complicated when they discover they work within the same club, and the chemistry between them refuses to fade.

Lana is struggling internally, and much of the story had me frustrated, wishing she’d open up and seek help. But, of course, she’s not at that point yet, which is part of her character arc. Her journey of self-acceptance, where she slowly begins to see herself in a better light and reclaim control over her life, was satisfying. Meanwhile, Alexander, still grieving his late wife, finds himself breaking down his own emotional barriers as he bonds with Lana. Despite their age difference, they prove to be exactly what the other needs, with Alexander’s son Brodie completing their picture-perfect new family.

As always, the author handles family dynamics with skill. The characters’ struggles often stem from deep-rooted loyalties and conflicting duties to loved ones, making for rich, emotional storytelling that’s easy to become attached to. Another solid, heartfelt read in this engaging series!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing the eARC!

Another enjoyable instalment in the series - this time following 'wild child' Lana and new signing Alexander, a veteran Scottish goalie and widowed single dad. After what was supposed to be one night of anonymous 'fun and done' at a hotel, the pair find that they're not so done after all - they both play for the same organisation, and the connection they felt continues to make itself known...

Lana's not in a great place a lot of the time, and I spent a lot of the book figuratively tearing my hair out and wishing she'd tell someone and do herself a favour - but of course, she's not in a mindset where she feels able to do that, or else it'd be a much shorter book! Lana's journey of self-discovery - learning to see herself in a more kind light, and take back some ownership over her image - was good to see, and while Alexander is helping her to realise her worth, he's also coming out of his own shell and shedding some of the walls he'd put up after his wife's death. They find they have plenty to offer each other despite the age gap, and they and Brodie make a cute family!

As with previous books, the author excels at family drama - most of the characters' motivations boil down to complicated loyalties and trying to balance a sense of familial duty with getting past their own personal demons. This makes for grounded and heartfelt stories that you can't help but invest in.

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for allowing me access to the third book in the Playing the field series by Sasha Lace. It'll be out on Nov 15th, it follows Lana & Alex, once again in the universe of women's football. In this one you'll get single dad + black cat FMC + relearning how to enjoy life. If you have read the first two books you should continue with this one, it's addicting!

The book beautifully captures the tension between fleeting passion and the search for something more lasting, with a satisfying blend of humor and heart. Lace’s skillful storytelling ensures that this is not just a love story, but a rich exploration of what it means to take risks for the chance at true connection.
