A high court judge and a policeman are killed, and Alexander Gregory thinks it's related to an old case that the convicted person was later found to be innocent. Full of twists and turns can Alexander find the killer before he kills again. A book full of tension, good characters (even the bad ones.). Highly recommended. Richard Armitage is and excellent narrator he has a voice that easy to listen to. Thank to W. F. Howes and Netgalley for this review audiobook.
If you like your thrillers fast-paced and explosive, then this audiobook is definitely for you. The fifth Dr Alex Gregory book centres around Carl Deere, encarcerated falsely after a high profile case and now released with a new identity. In the wake of his release, a judge and police officer have been murdered and it seems Deere is seeking revenge. Despite Gregory's profiling work being wrangle used to capture Deere, it seems he is on the hit list. Deere is like a ghost , invisible, and as the body count grows and the links growing, it is vital to track Deere down before the death toll escalates further. Scotland Yard don't want to get involved after the fiasco of locking Deere up as an innocent man, so Dr Alex Gregory enlists the help of DCI Hope to fight against the ticking clock to unearth Deere. There is an exciting appearance from DCI Ryan too in the midst of the ascending drama. A gripping listen with a cliffhanger finale. #panic #ljross #netgalley #audiobook #dralexandergregory #thriller
Mind-bendingly dark and deep, you know it's not for the faint hearted from page one. Intricate plotting, devious twists and excellent characterisation take this tale to a whole new level. Any serious crime fan will love it Five stars!
As always another 5* read from LJ Ross. Whether it’s DCI Ryan or Dr Alexandra Gregory I’m never disappointed. The storyline is great and the cliffhanger is just wow. Can’t wait for Amnesia.
I haven’t read any of the titles in this series, but this works really well as a stand alone. And the characters are so well depicted, along with a plot that was different to the usual murder mystery premise. I’ll be looking out the earlier books to catch up on a central character who’s engaging even though he’s flawed.
I thought the narration throughout was superb. Well paced and matched the plot development without being over dramatic and intrusive. What a brilliant series and with a twist and cliffhanger end, I’m waiting for the next instalment too. Really enjoyed this fast paced romp.
I love this series of books. The characters are so damaged, but their interactions are what makes the stories so realistic and harrowing.
There was a bonus treat of DI Ryan ( lead character from another series). His cameo role was a clever twist.
As always, the book ends on a cliff hanger, arghhhh!
Now I can’t wait for the next instalment.
It definitely shouldn’t have been but this was my first LJ Ross and I’m going to hunt down their back catalogue. Really liked the plot of this one, the characters were very well written and the untracked of the plot were a super match. Also I think the cover art was particularly eye catching, often books in their genre all blur into one. It works well as an audio and the narrator was a good shout for this type of genre
