Many of us say, when we become parents, that there should be a manual for what we are embarking on and I totally agree, but while there isn’t a manual, there are definitely many MANY resources out there that can help to guide us on our way through parenthood and after reading this, this books is now at the top of my list of recommendations for parents of the world.
I am definitely a mum who worries at times about what the future will be like for my daughter in this amazing and at times scary world we live in and resilience is high on my priority list to ingrain into her.
As I was reading though Tovah’s advice when being faced with certain situations, I continually was having light bulb moments and moments of awe. It also had me reflecting on my own upbringing, that also of my partner and how we are as parents.
The case studies and research that was shared through out were easy to comprehend and this helps with the tips and advice sticking in my brain for the future.
Thank-you @souvenir_press @netgalley and Tovah for this Digital Advanced Readers Copy, in exchange for an honest review.
'Raising Resilience' offers a timely and invaluable guide for parents seeking to cultivate resilience in their children. Drawing on the latest research in child development and psychology, Klein and Fitzpatrick provide a comprehensive framework for fostering the skills and mindsets that empower young people to navigate challenges and bounce back from adversity.
Raising Resilience presents a holistic approach, filled with practical strategies and insightful anecdotes. An important read for parents, educators, and anyone committed to raising resilient, confident, and adaptable individuals.
Raising Resilience is a reassuring resource of balance and understanding in our journeys with our children.
‘Balance’ is a key word here because this is the highlight of this book - safety and connection along with limits, boundaries and routines are what the authors are promoting with this book.
I quite like the idea of anchor - container as well.
I must say, I did not come across groundbreaking or entirely fresh perspectives in this book, but it is certainly a nice addition to parenting literature (I mean as a research realm).
The tone and the support via science are good too.
