James Patterson never fails to impress with the Alex Cross series and this is no different. Loved this book and the cliff hangers it gives as you work through the chapters.

I remember reading my first Alex Cross book: Along came a Spider while on night duty in Muscat, Oman and having to put it down close to the end because my heart was pounding and although I wanted to get to the end I didn’t want it to end! I then read many of the others but stopped after a while and have just resumed some 20 years later!

It’s lovely that some of the same characters are in the books. I enjoyed the Cross family’s Christmas - very heart warming. As for the rest of the book:
I found the beginning good and I was quickly gripped …….once I’d got the characters straight in my head. Then the middle bit was a bit slower and a little dragged out. Then came the dramatic ending set in the formidable weather up a mountain in Canada. There were no big surprises, well except one, but it was a tense ending.

I’ve always liked the character of Alex Cross and I’m tempted to go back to the start and read them all again.

James Patterson is a genius writer, I have read quite a few of his partnership books and enjoyed every one, particularly the two he wrote with ex-president Bill Clinton both amazing books.
My thanks, as always go to the author James Patterson, to the publishers and to NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book.

The House of Cross another James Patterson hit for me.
The top legal minds are being taken out Alex Cross steps in to find out why, and during his investigation, his wife Bree and his best friend John disappear.
Alex has only one thing he is focused on: finding his wife and friend and staying alive... what transpires from this investigation is jawdropping.

This is Pow Pow Pow action-packed and mind-blowing from the master himself is another hit for Alex Cross. Five Stars thank you
Please Keep them coming Mr Patterson :]

The 33rd installment in the Alex Cross series and it didn't disappoint. The hunt for criminal mastermind M continues, with Alex's wife Bree Stone and best friend John Sampson in the mix.

I found it a little slow at the beginning and but really enjoyed it. Another great addition to the Alex Cross series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The seeming serial killer of a number of judges is suspicious enough but when Alex sees a picture of the killer caught on CCTV it confirms that the mysterious organisation headed by M is involved. A dangerous mission to find and put an end to M before he fulfils his plot to influence the Governance of the USA leads Alex and his team into dire straits.

Another enjoyable Alex Cross book. I have read most of this series and although I admit I got a bit bored at one point, I now welcome each new one like a warm, winter coat. His family including that of his long time partner John Sampson are kind and loving but also driven and focused and that includes his 90 something grandmother, still at the centre of proceedings. In this particular book top people in the legal profession are being murdered and Alex sets out to find the perpetrators. HIs wife, Bree meanwhile is still fixated with the mysterious and evil M who has tormented Alex for many years. While investigating, Bree and John disappear and Alex is beside himself with fear. Will he find them before the extreme cold or M kills them? A fast paced book that has all the traits we love about Alex Cross and more. I am officially back as a fan.

'The House of Cross' is the latest installment of James Patterson bestselling Alex Cross Series. Special Advisor to the FBI and clinical psychologist Alex Cross and Ned Mahoney (FBI) investigate the murders of high-ranking judges. With the inauguration of President-elect Winter fast approaching, the pressure to solve the case is immense.
Simultaneously, Alex’ wife and Private Investigator Bree Stone and Alex’ best friend John Sampson (Metro PD) dive into the mysterious death of a tech billionaire who might be connected to Alex, Bree and Sampson’s nemesis criminal mastermind Maestro (M). But Bree and Sampson’s discovery about M puts them in grave danger and when Alex loses all communication with them, he fears the worst. A race to escape their kidnapper, but to also stay alive in the unforgiving, harsh and deadly beautiful landscape begins.

The book has a complex and intricately crafted plot full of non-stop action that leaves you breathless, but desperate to know what happens next. The chapters are short and snappy and before you know it, you’ve read half the book. In this book, Alex, Bree and Sampson finally make headway on discovering the identity of the elusive criminal mastermind M.

It was heart-warming to see the whole Cross family back together for the Christmas holidays, as was Nana Mama’s legendary cooking. I also loved that Bree and John Sampson team up for a case. I enjoyed the unconventional setting, which stands out, and the realistic descriptions of the gear that Alex needs in order to stay safe in this extreme environment, including heated suits, helmets and snowmobiles.
Once again, it becomes clear, that the power of technological advances can change the world.

Another great addition to the Alex Cross series and absolutely unputdownable. I finished the book in one day.

Thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK, Cornerstone Century, and James Patterson for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Alex Cross is back, looking for a serial killer who is killing judges.

His wife Bree, is looking into the death of billionaire tech genius, but are the cases connected?

A bit of a slow start, quite a few characters which you need to try and get straight in your mind (or I did anyway!) but after the first third, the book really swings into action.

Enjoyable read

If you are anything like me with your reading you will have read this latest instalment because you have read all the books in this series.
I have followed this series over a good few years now and look forward to each new instalment. I have followed not just the stories but the lives of the characters. I've seen them grow and progress and enjoyed every single minute of it.
One of my all time favourite series of books. So easy to read and follow yet interesting and gripping.
Cross and Sampson are put to test this time and have so much to fight for.

Superb read.

Fans of Alex Cross will not be disappointed with this latest instalment. Patterson once again grips the reader from the start and embroils them in as fast paced thriller. It is a real page turner and had to read it all in one sitting

This was the first Alex Cross book I’ve ever read, I’ve seen some of the films but too long ago to remember much.
The story is good, starts slowly and I found the bits about Bree discussing M a bit boring but it quickly picks up pace and towards the end become more interesting.
All in all a good book, but I’m not sure I enjoyed it enough to go and read any of the other books in the series.

I enjoyed this title though reading the first few chapters, I didn’t find it as gripping as other titles I have read. As the book progressed, it became more action packed and moved along quickly. I like the way James Patterson creates characters who are focused on the job in hand but also have a caring and loyal side to them, which makes it easy to engage with them. I was keen to pick the story up again.

A good book. Having read and loved so many of the earlier Alex Cross books I found myself becoming, and sincere apologies for this, a little disinterested and bored so stopped reading the series. When I saw this book I thought I would give it a try and am glad I did. It can be enjoyed as a stand alone book. The familiar characters were as well portrayed as I remembered and I enjoyed the story, though at times, as others have commented, it strayed into James Bond realms with an organisation whose agenda is dictated by an evil villain intent on moulding the world as he believes it should be. But I’m straying in to spoiler territory now so will stop. Definitely worth a read by fans of this author, the series or genre.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this and to the author for his talent and ability to entertain us readers.

JAMES PATTERSON – THE HOUSE OF CROSS *****
Oddly I have not read any of the prolific Cross series before, though I have seen some of the films. I assumed this would be formulaic with little characterisation or sense of place. I was wrong.
If anything, the sense of place is given priority over characterisation. For a large chunk of the novel, and the climax, it is set in the snowy wastes of Canada where Cross and his wife and FBI friends are tracking down a sinister organisation who is systemically bumping off judges to change the course of the political landscape of America. This icy backdrop is described in detail, and you feel the pain of the sub-zero temperatures and hear the soft plop of snow dropping from branches over the sound of rapid gunfire and the noise of the ski sleds chasing them.
It's pure hokum of course, but it rattles along at a breath neck speed not to matter, and you’d be a better man than me not to read the next chapter and the one after that. It’s very visual. You can see this made into a movie.
An easy recommendation. An easy five stars.

The thirty-second, yes really, instalment in James Patterson's Alex Cross series and the battle with vigilante group M or Maestro continues. Cross is still not sure whether it is a force for good or evil. It is Winter and the inauguration of the new President is approaching. A shocking new case is handed to Cross - members of the Supreme Court, and potential nominees are being murdered.

Briefly, Cross’s wife Bree Stone and his friend and Metro PD partner John Sampson are hunting for Maestro as part of Cross’s investigation. In the midst of a wild snowstorm in Canada Bree and Sampson go missing. Cross find himself in a race against time to locate his wife and friend. Are they dead or alive?

As always the author uses short punchy chapters in this high octane thriller that kept me page turning until the last exciting page. Fast paced and emotional and a very entertaining read.

One day I discovered the legend that is James Patterson, I'd gone to the library picked up Along Came A Spider and that was that. I was hooked. I am so invested in these characters that I can't even imagine the series ending.

The Hunt for Maestro is well and truly upped a gear in this latest book and it seems like they may be onto something.. but are they? This mastermind always seems a few steps ahead and just when you think they've nailed him.. boom chaos erupts.

I don't know how much more action can be fit into one book but damn this was intense. Right from the get go the storyline demands your attention and had me as a reader hooked. The twists and turns really were fantastic and I couldn't have guessed how everything was going to turn out.

Murder mystery aside for a sec, can we mention the family bond. Like for real I actually feel like I'm a part of the family now and find myself grinning and cheering on from the sidelines. Nana Mama is amazing for being 90 something!!

I only have one critique.. why did it have to end.. now I gotta wait for Book 34 🤣
