The juggernaut that is James Patterson returns with the latest novel in the life of his longest-running character Alex Cross. This one opens with a murder made to look an accident in the snowy wastelands before moving onto the murders of prominent figures in American legal life. How they are connected sees Patterson returning to the mystery of M/Maestro, which has been running for some novels now. It all leads to some dramatic action in northern Canada, and prominent roles for Bree, Alex's wife, and John Sampson, his long term friend and partner.
If you're not up to speed with the last few novels this might not be the best place to start, though Patterson does explain everything so no new readers would be entirely lost. However, if you love this series, then The House of Cross is another thrilling novel in the series and recommended.
James Patterson's Alex Cross series has been entertaining readers for over 30 years while remaining consistently excellent and entertaining.
House of Cross sees Cross investigating a series of murders of America's top legal minds. With the killings seeming to also have political implications it becomes a matter of national security and then personal security as Cross's wife Bree and best friend John Sampson go missing while helping with the investigation.
This is a suspenseful and intriguing story with Cross once again grappling with an old foe that regular readers will recognise immediately and seemingly no way out for Bree and Sampson.
A great read up to James Patterson's usual very high standards, when a series is still going for over 30 books in over 30 years you know it's got to be something special.

Amazing as always! I was immediately captivated and couldn't put it down! I love the characters of these books, they're so familiar they feel like my own family after reading about them so long, and this was no different.
No plot spoilers here, just read it and you'll love it!
An absolutely thrilling story and great characters, written by a fantastic author, I couldn't put it down until I had finished. Highly recommended and I would give it 10 stars if I was able, but I am limited to 5.
Another great installment in the series which allows you to revisit the crazy life of Alex Cross and those around him. Although parts seem unbelievable, it is a really good murder/thriller book that keeps you wondering what will happen next.
