While it is a good military thriller, it's also very much unbelievable. The governor of California partners with the head of the California National Guard and a strategist to make California secede, and the federal government does nothing about it? Very much unrealistic and unbelievable. The writing is good, I find the characters hard to connect to, but overall an enjoyable read if you can suspend your belief in reality.

This was a very interesting read especially during this crazy political season. Being a California native, I took particular interest in the coup and considered the chances for success. Unfortunately, with the current facture of both political parties and extremists on both sides concerned more for political power than the good of the people, I believe a coup could take place. Should that ever happen, I hope there are people like Chazz and Ollie who can help restore peace and order. I received an ARC from NetGalley, and the opinions expressed are my own.
