Another enjoyable read that sees Gina and the team try to solve the murder of a young mother. When Gina hears from the local vicar that this young women may have been a victim of domestic abuse it brings back bitter memories for the detective. So much so that she links feeling unwell with ptsd but has she ignored the warning signals for too long.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book

I always look forward to a new DI Harte novel and this one did not disappoint.

The plot bombed along nicely and it was nice to see some new characters, I certainly hope that vicar Sally sticks around.

Gina’s health issues were believable and a nice change from the usual killer/detective connection.

I thought the plot got s little too convoluted as it went on with possibly a few too many characters.

Overall, I enjoyed the read and will certainly be in the queue for the next instalment.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I have love the Gina Harte books since The Next Girl. I am exctied to see that the series is still going strong.

Gina is called in to investigate a murder of a young mother who appears to have been hiding secrets from everyeone. When her primary suspect is taken out of the equation she is left to wonder how many secrets the victim had?

At the same time Gina is facing a health crisis and threats from an unknown, possible known person who seems to want to make her pay for the past.

It was great to see Gina having a friendship with Sally and keeping her wits about her. There was a side story with finding out the paternity of the little boy left behind that was actually the most predictiable part of the story.

I enjoyed finding out the "secrets" and will for sure continue to read Gina to see who wants her to pay.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy to offer my opinions.

I read One Last Prayer (Detective Gina Harte Book 16) by Carla Kovach over the weekend. It's a page-turning crime thriller and a good addition to the series.

The plot was interesting and unique. I really like the familiar characters and getting to know new characters. They are three-dimensional and believable. The writing keeps you engaged in the story, and there are good red herrings. The story is fast-paced.

I loved the dogs, Jerry and Toffee.

One Last Prayer is a thrilling mystery with credible characters and an atmospheric locale. There were sneaky antagonists, false clues, suspense, and tension.

I would recommend this book and this series. I am looking forward to more as there is yet another plot twist that involves Gina, which has me anticipating what is going to happen next with her.

Just when I was beginning to loose hope with my tbr pile Carla swoops in to save me with a whopper of a thriller!

I love Gina Hart and the series that Carla has created with her as lead. She’s a mature, knowledgeable and hardworking detective who respects her team and can sometimes take a risk. Now on paper that sounds deadly dull but in reality it makes for a really strong character development. One which allows for the story and all of the emotions surrounding the crime to really come to the fore.

This series for me is a guaranteed must read set of books. I know what I’m going to get with Carla and she is consistently top of her game delivering fast paced, thrilling and yet brutal murder mysteries.

You don’t need to have read any of the series to pick up this book as whilst it’s a part of a much larger series of books this, and all I’ve read before it work really well on their own. My only criticism on that note is the addition of these stalker-like emails and harassment emails. I feel like I’ve either missed a byline or skipped a book to understand why they are relevant or needed in this story. If it were me I’d remove them as I felt they deterred from the narrative and didn’t come to any fruition.

Loved it! Can’t wait for more! … Be prepared to be entertained!

When Nell is found murdered in her garden - Gina and her team are called out.
In this book nothing is as it seems, the suspect is quite clear, or is it? Gina's Health! Friends !

It was a entertaining and tension filled ride!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Carla Kovach for this ARC in exchange my honest review.

I’ve always been a fan of gripping thrillers and psychological dramas, and when I stumbled upon Carla Kovach's latest novel, One Last Prayer, I couldn’t resist diving in. I had heard of Kovach’s ability to weave suspense-filled narratives, but this book took me on an unexpected journey that was both thrilling and reflective. Kovach has woven a brilliant tapestry of tension and emotion that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. I was left with so many feelings—intrigued, satisfied, and a little wistful. In a way, the book felt like a long walk through the woods, with ebbs and flows that reflected the twists of life itself. I wholeheartedly recommend picking up this book. It’s a thrilling ride filled with rich characters and important themes that linger in the mind long after you’ve read the final line. So, grab a cozy blanket and a cup of tea, and get ready to immerse yourself in this fantastic read!

My Review:
Loved, loved and more loved!!!!! It had me gripped from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down. This has to be one of my favorite series ever. I do want to say that you can read each of them as a stand alone though. I would also recommend starting it from the very beginning. I started in the middle and didn’t get the full experience in my opinion. Now let’s talk specifically about this one. One of the main reasons this book was so terrific was because of the characters specifically the detectives. The team of them work so well together. Each of them have a specific quality within them that blends well with the others on the team to help close the case and fast. The plot on this one did not disappoint either. I was kept interested the entire time and it was full of twists. Each chapter brought us many surprises and then to that shock of an ending. I was speechless. It was my favorite of all her books so far. This author and series never ceases to amaze me. Just when I think how can the next book get any better than the last one, it does. I’m not sure how this author does it but she’s brilliant and I can’t wait for the next one.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yet another fabulous book to add to the Gina Harte series. This time Gina and the team have a complex case to unravel and Gina has her own problems to deal with as well. I am a big fan of the series and although some books are better than others this one is a definite winner. It kept my attention throughout and I didn't work out the killer at all thanks mainly to lots of twists in the narrative. An excellent read I'm very happy to recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

When a young mother is killed and her eyes have been removed, Gina knows this latest case is going to be a tough one. With diary excerpts and a few pov’s, we have an idea of what is going to happen, but we don’t know who is doing these despicable acts. Gina also battling some health issues and seems to only get worse as the case moves forward. Also, someone from Gina’s past is back on o make her life hell. An interesting case and am looking forward to the next one.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

A young mum is found dead in her garden, and detective Gina Harte and her team are called in to investigate. Pretty soon they have a clear suspect, but are things as they seem?

Wow this was a good one! Just finished and my muscles are sore from tensing with all the tension in this book. The running theme throughout, of Gina’s health issues had me on the edge of my seat. I was definitely fearful for something bad to happen. I enjoyed all the characters in this and how they all were related to each other in some way. There were no loose ends which I enjoyed. Character progression with some more selfish characters was good too.

Highly recommend this!

Gina Harte is back and this is a heart racing read in more ways than one. With a large cast of characters you'd be forgiven for thinking it's going to be confusing but it's written in such a way that it all flows seamlessly.
If you love a police procedural drama with plenty of red herrings and twists then this book (and series) will be perfect for you.
