This is book 3 in the "Nightfire Quartet" and it's so good! It might be my favorite in the series.
It was a great mix between the MCs inciting revolution and getting down and dirty. The steam was *chefs kiss*

The third book in the series and I am honestly still very much amazed!
It's such a good fantasy series and I can't stop recommending it to anyone who's listening.
Zary and Rabin are one of my favorite characters of all time!
Book 3 is here!!!!! I have waited to read book three for awhile and it was so good. This book had so much action and character development. I absolutely LOVE the found family trope throughout this story, it's probably my favorite aspect. Zarya really grew in this book and I enjoyed reading her story! Rabin is still soooo dreamy and only continues to be even more so. He is SO thoughtful of Zarya in every situation, but still such a strong MMC. Super thankful for receiving this as an ARC, but waiting for book 4 is going to be tough!
I couldn’t wait to dive back into Nisha J. Tuli’s magical and richly original fantasy world with Storm of Ink and Blood, the third installment in her captivating series. And once again, Tuli delivers! This book is just as thrilling and intriguing as the first two, continuing the fantastic mix of tension, compelling characters, and an incredible magic system that makes the series so special.
What’s truly impressive is how Tuli keeps the excitement and mystery alive with every book. Maintaining the same high level of energy throughout a series can be tough, but she nails it. The pacing is perfect, keeping you glued to the page, and the twists and turns feel fresh and engaging. The characters continue to evolve, and the intricate magic system only deepens, pulling you further into this fascinating world.
If I had one complaint, it’s that I now have to wait for the next book! This is yet another jewel in Nisha J. Tuli’s crown, and it’s a must-read for fans of immersive, well-crafted fantasy.
I absolutely loved Storm of Ink and Blood! It was action packed and I thoroughly enjoyed discovering more of Rahajhan, and meeting new characters. I couldn’t stop reading. I wanted to find out about everything! What would happen to the Vanshaj? Would Zarya forgive Rabin? Would she be able to control her magic? How are the Madan’s, are they all bad? And although a lot of them were answered, I’m excited to find out the answers to my other questions in the next book.
I absolutely loved the romance in this book, but I loved the platonic soulmates relationship even more. It’s so refreshing to see that type of relationship in a book. Oh and we can’t forget about the new romantic relationship that has developed. I NEED to see more of that in the next book 🥰
I will be (im)patiently waiting for book 4!
We rejoin Zarya and Yasen where shenanigans are already in progress....
Zarya is certain of her destiny and it’s to free vanshaj from their oppression and servitude. So naturally her and Yasen have joined a rebellion....
From the first page you are thrown right into the action. As always the story is very well written and you can’t possibly put it down once you get into it.
I love Zarya and though she tries she’s still a bit reckless and impulsive but her heart is in the right place so you can’t help but to love her anyway. It’s like after all the years Zarya spent in seclusion she has to make up for it by never having a dull moment in her life.
Can’t wait till the next one... even though it’s the last one so that’s sad but all good things must come to an end...
After Rabin's betrayal, Zarya joins the struggle for freedom within violent Ishaan. Nobles and scholars live in luxury as vanshaj are born into magical slavery as punishment for ancestors' crimes centuries ago. She is sure that their fate is linked to her mysterious and forbidden magic, so she helps rebels fighting for their freedom. On a deadly raid, Zarya uncovers the key to freeing the vanshaj, but it involves harnessing deadly power and possibly interacting with Rabin again.
As the third book in the series, it absolutely relies on reading prior volumes. (Heart of Night and Fire and Dance of Stars and Ashes) The magic Zarya has was the source of negative stories for generations, seen as evil and vile. She tries to understand the Nightfire as well as the sixth anchor of shadow, and the suppression star tattoos on the vanshaj are similar. Her work becomes focused on breaking the stars, learning more about the vanshaj, and the bond she has with Rabin. As betrayed as she felt, she still hoped for a reason behind it. She also hoped to meet her mother's other children in the royal family but is disappointed that they benefit from slavery and have no intention of ending it.
This volume of the Quartet spans months. We hear about Zarya's former friends via letters and see the conditions for the vanshaj worsen as rule tightens around them in Gi'ana in response to rebellious actions. She makes mistakes along the way, which makes her feel like a real person and not just a prophesied savior. She is trying to figure out the best way to help others, which makes for a fascinating story. There's one volume left, and now we're likely going to find out exactly what happened to her mother and the reason she was hiding in the first place.

It's been a little while since I read the previous book so I was grateful for the cast of characters at the beginning of the book alongside a glossary of the places and the types of creatures, it really helped me.
I liked the action but I wish there was a little bit more because politics and the rebellion were focused on a lot more.
It was great to see Zarya grow and become stronger in this book. She really became her own person and finally stopped fearing her magic.
The world building was very nice. The descriptions of the clothes, traditions/customs and the places were lovely.
I liked exploring the magic, the history of the kingdoms and the laws that Zarya was trying to fight against.
I'm not sure I would've forgiven Rabin if I was Zarya but it was nice to see him work on earning her trust back.
Yasen's friendship with Zarya was very sweet. I'm glad that she had so much support from him.
The ending was good although the big cliffhanger was both frustrating and intriguing at the same time 😂.
*Thank you to @Netgalley, the author, and @secondsky for providing this ARC. This is my own opinion and an honest review, which I am leaving voluntarily*
4.25/5 Stars
Storm of Ink and Blood is the third book in the Nightfire Quartet by Nisha J Tuli. I read this one as a mix of audio and ebook, and had such a blast with each version! Tuli has crafted such an intriguing world with engaging characters, fast-paced plot, and some steamy romance!
The story picks up a few months after the events in book two and it takes off with a bang (literally). The FMC, Zarya, is busy trying to figure out her newly uncovered magic and how her powers relate to the prophecy her mother left her. She is also reeling from a horrible betrayal with way too many questions and very few answers. I love how action packed this story was, while also adding in plenty more character development. There is SO much going on with Zarya and Yasen’s quest to free the vanshaj, along with new characters added into the mix.
In this story, we get so much more from Zarya as she learns more about herself and her powers. She is still on the naive side at times, but given her background, some naivete makes sense. I absolutely adore her relationship with Yasen. He is the best friend and side kick and honestly steals the show any time he is on page. Their banter is hilarious and they make for such a fantastic platonic pairing. Yasen is easily my favorite character in this series and quite possibly top five in all of literature.
Then we have Rabin. I LOVE his character. We’ve learned so much about him in the last book and get even more depth in this story. His character is so complex and the man is just trying so hard to do the right thing. The chemistry Rabin and Zarya have is off the charts! I think this book cranked up the spice level from the previous books and WOWZA Rabin is a man obsessed.
The found family in this series is actually perfection. While we are in a new location in this book and introduced to some new characters, that thread of found family remains and runs deep. These new characters are so interesting and were given plenty of development to make me love them just as much as those from the first two books.
The action and development of this book had me on edge for so much of the book. It felt like everything was happening exactly as it needed to and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. The anticipation and anxiety were SO GOOD. This book did such a good job in building up to what will be a fantastic finale, without being just a filler/bridge book. There was plenty of action and important events in this one too, but we will FOR SURE get a lot of excitement in book 4 based off how this one ended! Where they are going at the end has me NERVOUS and I don’t know that I trust it at all! I cannot wait for book four to see the conclusion of Zarya and Rabin’s story!
Thank you NetGalley for an early copy of this book!
I love this book. I love this series. If you read books 1 and 2 - keep going! This book brings a different vibe to the series thus far. The calm before the storm is how it felt to me. Yasen was perfect per usual. While still being charming, witty and my favorite, he had a mature and wise side to him throughout as well. Z and R are a 🎢 as we love. We learn so much new intel too. I had the eARC and the audio ARC. I really, really enjoy this series via audio. The narrator does a beautiful job with the dynamic cast. I also really like not having to guess how to pronounce things. 💁♀️
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Nisha J Tuli 👸, Second Sky books and DreamScape Media for ARCs of this book!
Thank you so much to Nisha J Tuli & NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book! I am in love with this series and cannot wait to see what happens next! This review is all my own thoughts and opinions.
💙 Yasen is my favourite best friend character and I will be taking no complaints about him. He and Zarya care about each other so much but still have a fun and playful relationship, teasing each other for their mishaps and makeouts.
💙 Zarya is a strong woman who is learning about her magic and her identity under very stressful circumstances. She makes mistakes and doesn’t always know what to do, but she has a strong support system in her found family, and ultimately learns to trust her instincts.
💙 Rabin and Zarya have a lot to sort out in their relationship after book 2. Things are complicated by Abishek’s orders, and they need to figure out what’s going to be best for both of them. Of course Rabin is a super hot dragon shifter so he obviously has my vote.
"He would have done anything for her in that moment. Torn apart mountains and worlds. Climbed to the moon if she asked. She was his purpose. His destiny."
OH HOW WE'VE BEEN FED IN THIS ONE!!
We got the most relationship development by far in Storm of Ink and Blood, Zarya and Rabin went from her not trusting him, to slowly rebuilding that trust, to being lovers (again), to something even more and then something I wasn't expecting, but it makes perfect sense for them.
Rabin isn't hiding his feelings for Zarya AT ALL, he's completely devoted to her, mind body and soul. It's so refreshing to see.
Like, if anyone went to the school of grovelling, Rabin did. He really made up for his mistakes. Which is not to say that I think their decision to go where they're gonna go at the end of the book is correct, by the way, just putting that out there.
Also, I love how, for him, there was no one else while they were apart, it just proves he's so down bad for her. He's come a looong way from the start of the series and he's almost (but not quite) sharing Yasen's spot on my faves list.
Zarya meanwhile, developed her powers and is so much more confident using them. I also like how Rabin doesn't just encourage her, but helps her along the way (in more ways than one).
I love that she's finally properly embracing her destiny, and that we're taking this journey with her step by step. I may or may not have cried as the prophecy was coming true.
And Yasen, my fav fav favvvvv character, the apple of my eye, my sugar plum, sweetie pie, HAS FOUND A SPECIAL SOMEONE, WE CHEER!!! I wasn't expecting it, but the pairing is perfect.
In every single book, Yasen's friendship with Zarya is the highlight of my reading experience and this one is no different, the way they joke around and care for each other warms my heart.
Because of everything that happened here, I'm expecting an epic battle in the final book, and I'm already telling you, I don't trust You Know Who. Absolutely not. I'm open to being proven wrong, but...we'll see.
And you know, it's not just this series that keeps getting better, but Nisha J. Tuli's writing also. With every single book, she blows me away. This series is now my favourite by her, and if you know me, then you know Cursed Captors, more specifically Wicked is the Reaper, was hard to beat. AND YET.
So if you haven't started The Nightfire Quartet yet, please do. The final book will be out before you know it, and until then, you can enjoy the lovely cliffhanger Nisha left us with.
P. S. That glossary at the beginning? So funny!
P. P. S. I'm really hoping that one line about x character being the death of a different character was just a figure of speech and not foreshadowing.
*Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
I really enjoyed this book!! The plot was so interesting and full of adventure that I was never bored. The author did a great job with character development because I was full invested in there stories. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends and family.
New settings and characters! I'm enjoying where this story is going and can't wait to read the last book. I would love to know why Amrita and Vikram seem so different from who they were. In the back of my mind, Abishek has ulterior motives with his daughter. I guess we'll find out.
Thank you, Second Sky, for the approval of the ARC of Storm of Ink and Blood
Story: 4 ⭐
Spice: 2🌶 (I had a hard time trying to decide the spice rating. It's nice and spicy but there is also a lot of plot!
Narration: ⭐
This is Book 3 of The Nightfire Quartet. ONLY ONE MORE LEFT AHHHHH. I've really enjoyed this series and watch Zarya grow as the FMC. Also, you get to see a whole new side of Rabin, which made me laugh. Like of course, he could be like that. This book was action packed and a lot of secrets are revealed. I cannot wait for book 4!
There were lots of new characters, new settings, and I definitely felt a shift in the story heading towards a big finale.
Got a lovely “where is my wife?” moment and of course it was very spicy 🥵
The setting is the cherry on top of this series - the South Asian inspired world is so bright and colourful
I look forward to the finale of this series and for Zarya to meet her father - he is not gonna be a happy bunny.
Storm Of Ink and Blood by @nishajtwrites is out now and you don't want to miss this one!
When I heard that this series was perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas, Carissa Broadbent and Rebecca Yarros I knew I had to read it!
I loved the slow burn romance, world building and the banter! I thought Zarya's character growth was great!!
If you're a fan of slow burn romantasy series I definitely recommend this one
Thank you @nishajtwrites @secondskybooks and @netgalley for this ARC!
I LOVE this series so much and I hope you do too! I love the magic system in this series. It has been really interesting to learn more as the series continues.
Zarya is one of my favorite main characters. It has been so much fun to watch her learn and grow. I have loved all of her relationships throughout the story. The love interests, the best friend, the found family... all of it!
This is a book I've been dying to dive into, especially after that BETRAYAL! Eeek!
I still crave more Rabin. While we do get some of his presence—through dream-plane interactions and a couple of POV chapters—it wasn’t enough to satisfy my curiosity. He’s such a complex, fascinating character, and I wanted more! Zarya, meanwhile, is fully focused on her mission to fulfill the prophecy of saving those "caged by stars." However, I found myself struggling to get a real sense of some characters like Abishek, the Chandras, and her family in Ishaan. It left me feeling constantly on edge!
I also wish there had been more banter, maybe an extra dose of enemies-to-lovers tension. Zarya and Rabin have so little interaction, and it felt like they were spending months apart. I was starved for more of their chemistry.
Another thing that stood out was the number of “and then she told them everything” moments. Zarya seemed to be recapping her life story to every new person she meets, and it did get a bit repetitive.
That said, once I hit the 80% mark, the book became impossible to put down. The action ramps up here, and it finally felt like Zarya and Rabin were involved together. It was a long time coming, but worth it.
Yet, there are so many loose ends—almost nothing gets resolved in this book, which was a little frustrating.
Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but I wish the pacing had been tighter. Despite that, I still love Rabin, Zarya (and of course Yasen!), but it felt like while a lot happened, none of it seemed to push the series plot forward. Plus, we learn almost nothing new about Amrita or Vikram, except that they both seemed... changed.
Regardless, I’ll definitely be picking up the final book when it’s out!

It was so great to get to read the next installment of Zarya's story!! I loved continuing to watch her master her magic and her friendship with Yasen. I of course, am happy, that Rabin managed to get himself out of the dog house and can't wait what to see what happens in the final installment!
