"He would have done anything for her in that moment. Torn apart mountains and worlds. Climbed to the moon if she asked. She was his purpose. His destiny."
OH HOW WE'VE BEEN FED IN THIS ONE!!
We got the most relationship development by far in Storm of Ink and Blood, Zarya and Rabin went from her not trusting him, to slowly rebuilding that trust, to being lovers (again), to something even more and then something I wasn't expecting, but it makes perfect sense for them.
Rabin isn't hiding his feelings for Zarya AT ALL, he's completely devoted to her, mind body and soul. It's so refreshing to see.
Like, if anyone went to the school of grovelling, Rabin did. He really made up for his mistakes. Which is not to say that I think their decision to go where they're gonna go at the end of the book is correct, by the way, just putting that out there.
Also, I love how, for him, there was no one else while they were apart, it just proves he's so down bad for her. He's come a looong way from the start of the series and he's almost (but not quite) sharing Yasen's spot on my faves list.
Zarya meanwhile, developed her powers and is so much more confident using them. I also like how Rabin doesn't just encourage her, but helps her along the way (in more ways than one).
I love that she's finally properly embracing her destiny, and that we're taking this journey with her step by step. I may or may not have cried as the prophecy was coming true.
And Yasen, my fav fav favvvvv character, the apple of my eye, my sugar plum, sweetie pie, HAS FOUND A SPECIAL SOMEONE, WE CHEER!!! I wasn't expecting it, but the pairing is perfect.
In every single book, Yasen's friendship with Zarya is the highlight of my reading experience and this one is no different, the way they joke around and care for each other warms my heart.
Because of everything that happened here, I'm expecting an epic battle in the final book, and I'm already telling you, I don't trust You Know Who. Absolutely not. I'm open to being proven wrong, but...we'll see.
And you know, it's not just this series that keeps getting better, but Nisha J. Tuli's writing also. With every single book, she blows me away. This series is now my favourite by her, and if you know me, then you know Cursed Captors, more specifically Wicked is the Reaper, was hard to beat. AND YET.
So if you haven't started The Nightfire Quartet yet, please do. The final book will be out before you know it, and until then, you can enjoy the lovely cliffhanger Nisha left us with.
P. S. That glossary at the beginning? So funny!
P. P. S. I'm really hoping that one line about x character being the death of a different character was just a figure of speech and not foreshadowing.
*Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I really enjoyed this book!! The plot was so interesting and full of adventure that I was never bored. The author did a great job with character development because I was full invested in there stories. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends and family.

New settings and characters! I'm enjoying where this story is going and can't wait to read the last book. I would love to know why Amrita and Vikram seem so different from who they were. In the back of my mind, Abishek has ulterior motives with his daughter. I guess we'll find out.

Thank you, Second Sky, for the approval of the ARC of Storm of Ink and Blood
Story: 4 ⭐
Spice: 2🌶 (I had a hard time trying to decide the spice rating. It's nice and spicy but there is also a lot of plot!
Narration: ⭐
This is Book 3 of The Nightfire Quartet. ONLY ONE MORE LEFT AHHHHH. I've really enjoyed this series and watch Zarya grow as the FMC. Also, you get to see a whole new side of Rabin, which made me laugh. Like of course, he could be like that. This book was action packed and a lot of secrets are revealed. I cannot wait for book 4!

There were lots of new characters, new settings, and I definitely felt a shift in the story heading towards a big finale.
Got a lovely “where is my wife?” moment and of course it was very spicy 🥵
The setting is the cherry on top of this series - the South Asian inspired world is so bright and colourful
I look forward to the finale of this series and for Zarya to meet her father - he is not gonna be a happy bunny.

Storm Of Ink and Blood by @nishajtwrites is out now and you don't want to miss this one!
When I heard that this series was perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas, Carissa Broadbent and Rebecca Yarros I knew I had to read it!
I loved the slow burn romance, world building and the banter! I thought Zarya's character growth was great!!
If you're a fan of slow burn romantasy series I definitely recommend this one
Thank you @nishajtwrites @secondskybooks and @netgalley for this ARC!

I LOVE this series so much and I hope you do too! I love the magic system in this series. It has been really interesting to learn more as the series continues.
Zarya is one of my favorite main characters. It has been so much fun to watch her learn and grow. I have loved all of her relationships throughout the story. The love interests, the best friend, the found family... all of it!

This is a book I've been dying to dive into, especially after that BETRAYAL! Eeek!
I still crave more Rabin. While we do get some of his presence—through dream-plane interactions and a couple of POV chapters—it wasn’t enough to satisfy my curiosity. He’s such a complex, fascinating character, and I wanted more! Zarya, meanwhile, is fully focused on her mission to fulfill the prophecy of saving those "caged by stars." However, I found myself struggling to get a real sense of some characters like Abishek, the Chandras, and her family in Ishaan. It left me feeling constantly on edge!
I also wish there had been more banter, maybe an extra dose of enemies-to-lovers tension. Zarya and Rabin have so little interaction, and it felt like they were spending months apart. I was starved for more of their chemistry.
Another thing that stood out was the number of “and then she told them everything” moments. Zarya seemed to be recapping her life story to every new person she meets, and it did get a bit repetitive.
That said, once I hit the 80% mark, the book became impossible to put down. The action ramps up here, and it finally felt like Zarya and Rabin were involved together. It was a long time coming, but worth it.
Yet, there are so many loose ends—almost nothing gets resolved in this book, which was a little frustrating.
Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but I wish the pacing had been tighter. Despite that, I still love Rabin, Zarya (and of course Yasen!), but it felt like while a lot happened, none of it seemed to push the series plot forward. Plus, we learn almost nothing new about Amrita or Vikram, except that they both seemed... changed.
Regardless, I’ll definitely be picking up the final book when it’s out!

It was so great to get to read the next installment of Zarya's story!! I loved continuing to watch her master her magic and her friendship with Yasen. I of course, am happy, that Rabin managed to get himself out of the dog house and can't wait what to see what happens in the final installment!

This book grabs you by the imagination and does not let go! Zarya and the crew are back and in fine form. I love the camaraderie and found family vibes between Zarya, Yasin et al. The banter and insults fly thick and fast between them but when someone threatens one of them, they'll all plot your death!
Zarya is really coming into her own. Learning to be independent, to trust her instincts and fight for what she wants and what she knows is right. She's learning it's ok to ask for help and that that help can be found in the most unlikely places. We have to navigate new territory, new foes, family politics and a small revolution!!
I loved learning more about the ways in which the various factions controlled others. The rebellion in Gi'ana really felt a bit "Oceans 11" heist at times and I'm here for that! It was nice to see Yas get a bit of a HFN too!
A gloriously detailed and descriptive world to get lost in with characters of all hues of the rainbow, genders and sexual orientation. The mythology is so rich and I really want to read more books that aren't based in "Western" mythology worlds. The South Eastern Asia mythology vibes really transport you to another plane! Now I've got to wait for the next book!

“Trust me…There’s no possibility this thing I feel for you could be anything but destiny, no matter what anyone might say.”
Storm of Ink and Blood is the third novel in The Nightfire Quartet, an adult fantasy romance series following our fierce heroine, Zayra as she uncovers the secrets of her heritage and the destiny coming for her.
Zarya has discovered a darker magic within her she has yet to fully understand. Betrayed by her lover, she finds herself in a new city alongside friends but she quickly realizes this city is in need of saving. With severe class disparity between scholars, nobles, and the magically enslaved, Zarya may be the only one to save them...but it will require her to learn how her magic works, quickly, and, unfortunately, the only person who can help her happens to be the one who betrayed her…
GAH I loved Rabin in this book!
Zayra has grown so much in the series and I had so much fun with her in the book. She recognizes her limits here and seeing her turn to others and lean on them showed her strength in so many ways. She sometimes can make irrational decisions that lead to pretty big consequences but she had good intentions that drew me in. I loved seeing her move through the highs and lows here.
Rabin...he is a dragon shifter turned simping male. He worships Zayra and makes no qualms about it. He is ready to be whatever she needs him to be and will do whatever it takes to earn her back. I liked how he acknowledge his mistakes, seeks to remedy them, and also listens to Zarya. He would be willing to just be in her life if that is all she wants and that kind of love just spoke to me.
There is an array of side characters that richly build up this world as well from our beloved Yasen to newer characters like Vikas who inspired Zarya. I liked seeing a mix of familiar characters while also being challenged by new characters. I felt these characters helped add tension to the story and open up the world to feel big and exciting.
The spice level of this book is about 2.5 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. Rabin has some grovelling to do so you won’t see spice until the halfway mark and there are 2-3 scenes. They are an absolute delight because once these two give into their connection the spice hits so hard and fast. Also, they may or may not get risky outside of the bedroom, which creates some fun.
“I would have waited until the sun burned out of the sky, Spitfire. I thought I made that clear.”
The story itself was probably the strongest of the series so far. You have the overarching story still unravelling with Zarya's destiny, her heritage, and Rabin's connection to Zayra's father (I am still sus of the dad). At the same time we also get the story within the city between the oppressed slaves and the rulers. I found this balance gave us tension, mystery, investigations, and more to shake things up. We also do get some slices of life that helped the romance along which I loved. The story had such good pace as we moved through the stories and there are twists and turns that really get you because there is a cost to mistakes here which added to the realism. The ending has a sweet twist and the ending isn't a cliffhanger that will hurt you, rather it ends on excitement that has me ready for book 4.
Overall, this series just keeps getting better and better and I CANNOT wait for book 4!
Thank you Second Sky and the author for this arc!

Amazing! I love this book and this series so much! I absolutely cannot wait for the next book. Just like the first two, I could not put this book down once I started it!

Storm of Ink and Blood is now available by Nisha J. Tuli!
3rd in the Nightfire Quartet. This book picks off immediately when Dance of Stars and Ashes left us. Zaraya is off to find her family and break free those whose magic has been forcibly taken.
In this book she comes into her own independence and strength. “With great power comes great responsibility” and she feels the weight of that responsibility pressing down.
To me friends and lovers were the shinning stars of this book. May we treat others with such respect, honesty and love.
I cant wait to see how this series finishes in the next books.
Thank you Second Sky Books & Dreamscape for my ARC & ALC.

It was fun seeing what Zarya and the others were getting up to. However, i was expecting to see a bit more adventure after the day the last book ended. Looking forward to the final one and to finally see if Zaryas father is the big bad or if how Rabin knows him is the truth.

This was a phenomenal third book in the Nightfire Quartet series!
Zarya displayed amazing character growth throughout this book. Her perseverance to find a magical key to the chains the vanshaj were locked with, along with her bravery in facing the many dangers coming at them regularly, had me feeling such pride for how far she had come.
I don't know if it was Rabin's unfaultering love for Zee that melted me, or his deliciously filthy mouth, but I loved any and all scenes with him in them. He is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
I loved all the side characters in this book, especially Yasen and you-know-who. Their friendship was everything, and I'm definitely hoping for more of these new side characters in the final installment.
I am so excited to read the fourth book in this quartet. Everything is set up for an epic finale and I can't wait to see how it all ends!

This is the third book in The Nightfire Quartet and I think my favorite in the series so far!
I absolutely love @nishajtwrites writing style and humor. Even the glossary in the beginning is hilarious.
In this one our FMC Zarya grows more and more into herself, learns about her powers and works towards a higher goal with the rebellion. Her character growth is amazing!
Of course we also get delicious scenes with one of our favorite dragon shifter MMCs. And yes, after the events in the second book, he has to work for it 🧎and I just love how obsessed he is with Zarya 🖤
The friendship between Zarya and Yasen continues to be one of my absolute favorites! I would gladly read a book just about the two of them.
So if you’re into vivid romantasy adventures with an obsessive dragon shifter and ride or 💀friendships, I highly recommend this series!
Thank you Second Sky Books and NetGalley for the gifted review copy!

This had a very different feel to the previous two books as Zarya has travelled to the country where her half siblings rule. As this begins not only is she devastated by Rabins betrayal but she's horrified by the treatment of those who are vilified and treated as little more than slaves. Zarya is still coming to terms with her powerful Nightfire and the fact that she has a sixth ability which everyone has been taught is evil. A prophecy has brought Zarya this far and now she finds herself helping the resistance and yet Rabin is never far from her thoughts and of course that stubborn male tracks her down but can Zarya ever really trust him ?
This for me started a little slow but boy did it find its feet once Zarya embraced all that she could be. Whilst she has always been written as a gung ho strong female I much preferred the second half when Rabin pushed her to take chances. This is a tale of a quiet revolution and truthfully the revelations along the way are truly heinous. Yet there's hope here, joy and emotions too. It perhaps doesn't have the ending we hoped for but boy does it open up possibilities as Zarya is ready to face the truth of who she really is and the final book will be unmissable.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Nisha does it again!!! I love everything about this series, and each new thing we uncover about Zarya and the world around her only makes me love it more. After that ending, I’m SALIVATING for book four.
The slow burn to the SPICE was absolutely delicious. I’m obsessed as always with Rabin and how down bad he is for Zarya even when she hates him lol.
This world Nisha has created is so lush and vibrant, and I loved every second of these pages.

5/5 stars
2/5 spice
I was so excited to start this book because I knew we be introduced to new characters and new settings. I loved the character development for Zarya and how her connection to Rabin becomes clear. But honestly I'm loving the friendship that grows with Yasen more. I'm super excited to read the final book.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and offered voluntarily.

Storm of Ink and Blood is the third book in The Nightfire Quartet and it really steps up the action and world-building. Zarya’s powers continue to grow, and we get to see her take on more responsibility in the rebellion. The relationship between Zarya and Rabin is intense and filled with tension—sometimes a bit too much—but it makes for a compelling storyline. Their dynamic keeps shifting, and I like that she didn’t immediately forgive him after the betrayal from the previous book. Yasen also shines in this one, with his unwavering support and their evolving friendship being a highlight.
The pacing is faster compared to the earlier books, with plenty of twists, new characters, and a lot more spice. The found-family element is still strong, which is one of my favorite parts of the series. If you enjoy fantasy with rich magic, complex characters, and a good mix of romance and action, this book won't disappoint. It ends on a cliffhanger, so I'm definitely excited for the next one!
