Thank you so much to Quarto Kids and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
A look into one families way of celebration during Christmas time, what it meant to this family and the ways in which they celebrate. From celebrating Christ, to baking, decorating and handing gifts out to those that mean the most to them.
Charlie, Emily and Lou were so sweet, they loved helping to do anything and everything that they can during the holiday season, it was the most special time of the year for them and they had multiple ways of celebrating the season. It was really sweet seeing what they did and why they did it.
I did like the variety of what they did from the biblical aspect of the holiday season, to Santa Clause and also giving back and enjoying time with your family, this book showcased such a variety of events it was really wonderful to see.
The illustrations were really sweet within this book and I loved looking at them seeing all the aspects of celebration with these children right there. I also liked that the end of the book contained so much extra information from how to bake decorations to how others celebrate the season around the world and also about the birth of Christ.
This was a lovely little Christmas book. It has activities and deeper explanations to what is shown throughout the book. Note the while religion isn't heavily laid on in this book, the characters are shown doing some religious activities (e.g. the mother reads to the kids from the Bible).
Overall, it's a great little book and I especially loved how it also had a couple pages on how Christmas is celebrated around the world.
Whipple does an effective job explaining the family's Christmas holiday traditions through simple text and colorful imagery. There's an accessibility here that will help kids easily understand all of the different sorts of traditions, maybe even seeing their own families on these pages. The illustrations are really soft and welcoming, as is the thoughtful tone of the story.
Thank you to Annette Whipple and NetGalley for the early access to this book! “Christmas” was such a cute story, and I really enjoyed how Charlie told the story of how he and his family celebrated Christmas. I think this book does a great job of tying together the true meaning of Christmas and the fun traditions we all have throughout the holiday season. I can definitely see myself using this book to teach my son the importance of Christmas and how we should treat others throughout the season as he gets older.
Love the cover, the illustrations, the family members in the story!
I already miss the holidays and this book is perfect to gift/ read and reread with the kids to give them an idea how most families celebrate Christmas all over the world!
Perfect book!
Thank you, words & pictures, for the ARC.
love how this book tells the story of Christmas in a fun and engaging way that children can enjoy while still sparking their interest. The illustrations are incredibly cute, and the story beautifully captures the true spirit and symbolism of Christmas.
Very quick and fun read for your little ones! I personally loved the activities at the end of the book and the recipe for the pretzels. Christmas traditions are always fun to do and pass on to your children. Teaching them about Christmas and traditions is also great with books. Thank you so much NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group!
This is a lovely Christmas read. It begins with a story of how a family celebrate Christmas and this includes both Christmas traditions such as decorating the tree and writing to Santa Claus but it also includes a more religious element such as the lighting of the candle.
Towards the end of the book, there are some easy to follow instructions so that children can make their own. Christmas pictures and ornaments. There are some helpful things which suggest when an adult should help.
The book also details how different countries around the world and there is a quiz which children can complete and the answers are on the next page.
Throughout the book, the pictures illustrate the text beautifully.
Great book!
This Christmas story is so sweet, and truly teaches children what Christmas is all about and how it is celebrated across the world.
