Main Tropes: He Falls First, Hidden Identity, He Teaches Her

Firstly thank you so much for the ARC of Heir of Sin in exchange for an honest review!

I really enjoyed this book, it was easy to get into and the story was cosy and sweet. It draws inspiration from a few different tropes and lores, giving strong cottagecore vibes especially in the first half.

Both the FMC and MMC were really likeable, although I found the MMC quite difficult to visualise due to his changing form.

There was actually so much world building crammed into just over 200 pages. I was quickly immersed in the world of Illnora and excited to see this will be the first in a number of romantasy novels in the same series. The latter half of the story could have been developed a little more / been a bit longer, but the book still flows well.

Overall I really enjoyed it and I’m keen to go back and read the authors debut trilogy now!

I absolutely devoured this book! I hadn't heard anything about it or this author before seeing the cover on netgalley and it piquing my interest, but I'm so glad that I requested it and was accepted. I was hooked from page one right up until the end and even after I finished it. It was a quick, fast-paced read that hit me in the emotions in way that I truly wasn't anticipating- but my word, did I love every second of it. Heir of Sin has everything a reader could possibly want in a book- magic, djinn, witches, betrayal, angst, heartbreak, healing, and so much more!

I really enjoyed this book (but the ending, see below), the characters were engaging, the concept was interesting and nothing Ive read before and the pacing was really consistent. I could not put it down
Would recommend to lovers of OUABH. The smut was also very nicely written

What I liked:
- FMC is not sassy, just a lonely girl trying to find somebody to be with and learns to stand up for herself more
- MMC really does feel like a more adult version of Jacks. As someone who loved OUABH, I absolutely loved this
- the book has a nice message regarding female sexuality and associated shame in society, which is also mentioned again by the author at the end

What I didnt like:
- right at about the 70% mark things just went downhill for me. It felt rushed? Could probably have used an additional 50 pages or so. I really did not like the turn of events and even less so the resolution of the conflict. There were some plotholes in the end and it just made me sad cause the book started so strong. I almost wanted to give 3 stars but the first 70% just had me so hooked that I believe it does deserve 4 stars
- As I have not read the trilogy before and therefore have no prior knowledge about the world, the worldbuilding itself felt a bit thin. Might be because I lack the extra input so take that with a grain of salt.
