Amazing! This was such an amazing read. I couldn’t put it down and I read it so quickly and easily, the words just flowed.

I loved Clara and there were many aspects of her character I could relate to. She dug deep and found out just what she could do and it was amazing. I loved seeing Clara pulling all the other students together and helping them make friends and showing them that together they were unstoppable. Gabriel was a great character and his secret was interesting and cleverly done.
The descriptions of Switzerland were amazing and I really felt I was there and it amazed me how everyone just got on with normal life with all that snow, not like here in the UK when a few flakes fall and everything stops!

Jo always writes such great books and this was no exception, a must read for Jo Thomas fans and chocolate fans alike.

A bit lacklustre for me. It was nice enough, though I didn't really feel a Christmassy vibe. Nor did I feel much in the way of romance. It was all very quick, I didn't feel there was much in the way of emotion from either Clara or her love interest. I think the chocolate making took over and dominated. Clara, for a 39 year-old, was extremely naïve in her romantic decisions. Do serious relationships really develop so quickly these days, in a matter of weeks? She does it not once, but twice. Loved the setting. And I enjoyed the way Clara made friends with the other students. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Switzerland, Christmas and Chocolate what more could you want in a book. Clara is leaving England and her job behind to take a course in chocolate making in Switzerland when she arrives the course is much more advanced and finds herself out of her depth. but determined to learn the secrets of chocolate she carries on. Living in a new country with a relatively new boyfriend Clara has to take a look at her life and find herself . With the help of the people on her course and friends she makes along the way . Can Clara find a new life and will it contain chocolatier Gabriel. Jo Thomas is slowly taking me round The world in her books and I love all the different countries. A fantastic festive read

Snow, chocolate, mountains and romance! Roll them all together and you’ve got A Recipe for Christmas
Another fantastic festive book set in the mountains of Switzerland in a chocolate school.
From the first page I was drawn into the fabulous world of being a chocolatier. When Clara moves to Switzerland to start a new life her new boyfriend Daniel she enrolls in the chocolate school. Clara slowly begins to realise that it’s not about how many lindor chocolates you can fit in your mouth.
What a fabulous book as always Jo knows how to write an amazing Christmas book.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

Jo Thomas has done it again! What I love about Jo Thomas books are the fact they're always connected to food, this one was focused on chocolate and who doesn't love a good romcom with chocolate and Christmas! It's like the perfect combination. Switzerland has always been a place I'd love to visit and after reading this I want to go even more, I want to go and have hot chocolate and watch the world go by, and eat raclette at the restaurant with the view of a waterfall (cheese, wine and waterfalls are like my dream date). All in all this book was like a huge warm hug, full of cosiness and joy and making me want more, I would love there to be another in the series based in spring to see what happened in the future with all their plans (no spoilers from me). If you want a book to get you into the festive spirit and is full of joy then pick this one up!

I’ve read most of Jo Thomas’ books, and every time I think she’s written her best, she releases another one that tops the last! I don’t want to sound clichéd, but A Recipe for Christmas is definitely her best yet—and I absolutely adore all her books!

The story follows Clara, who feels stuck while life moves on for her friends. So, when the opportunity for voluntary redundancy arises at work and her new boyfriend suggests moving to Switzerland with him, she jumps at the chance. Clara has always dreamed of the perfect Christmas—family, friends, festive cheer, and delicious food—so what could be more perfect than a Yuletide in the Swiss Alps?

Looking to fill her time, Clara signs up for a chocolate-making course, only to discover she’s in over her head. As her relationship starts to fizzle, she begins to wonder if she’ll ever have the Christmas she’s dreamed of.

Once again, Jo Thomas delivers wonderful storytelling, drawing readers into the heart of the setting. You can vividly picture the train station, the chocolate school, and even the aloof receptionist. The immersive experience made me feel like I was living the story alongside the characters, and I loved every single page.

First book I have read by this author.

What a lovely winter read
Clara works in HR but takes a risk and ends up on a chocolatier course in Switzerland
It’s a fun, light hearted read about relationships and believing in yourself

Clara is the sensible one. A good job in HR at the same firm she’s been with since she left school.
But Clara has had enough if being cautious and decides to take a chance.
Will it work out? You'll have to read the book and find out.
A lovely read. .

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

We meet Clara, she sees herself as just someone who works in HR at a company called Duncans and Daughters.

She makes a decision to go to Switzerland with someone who she’s not known long, feeling like she’s the one. But is he?

She enrols in a course to learn how to make chocolate. When she arrives at the school, she finds herself out of her depth.

The story is about believing in yourself, friendships, not forgetting chocolate.

The story had you engrossed, turning the pages to read whether Clara continues attending the school and whether she achieves what she started to do.

I loved the setting, the characters and the food which made your mouth water.

I highly recommend this book.

Chocolate and Christmas- what a great combination.
I loved Clara’s story. Her ‘never give up‘ attitude was to be admired and her courage and resilience to be enjoyed.
Switzerland in Winter sounded magical and Jo Thomas has again given us sights and sounds to enjoy and feast upon.
As always, she’s included characters to love and maybe not love, but each play such an important role in the story. The setting, the people and the love all so evident and integral to putting the story together. Another one to savour.

What a gray way to spend an autumn reiny day. Curled up on the sofa whilst the dog snoozes on my feet. Clara is off on an adventure with her new man in Switzerland on a chocolatier course. She has a lot to learn she realises as she soon finds out it’s not a novice course and has a world renowned chocolatier judging. She’s miles older than the other attendees and her relationship is not what she thought it would be.
She is all out of sorts and tempted to give in. Alain the assistant is turning out the be her true friend and sue decides to take it one day at a time.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.

I just love Jo's books. This had such a warm christmassy feel with the snow and the 🍫 chocolate. What a lovely story. Clara who was at a turning point in her life took a massive leap of faith moving to Switzerland with someone she hardly knew at all!

What a fabulous opportunity to join the course at the Chocolate school under the mentoring of such a luminary, Gabriel who was a well renowned chocolatier! That was part of Clara's leaving package in her old HR job and entirely different from anything she'd ever done. The only thing she had goind for her was her love of chocolate.
Although she nearly fell at the first fence, Clara picked herself up and was determined to prove herself.

I loved the ending and will look for more of Jo's books although I have read a few.

Thank you netgalley for this Arc.

How gorgeous is the cover for this book? I can't stop staring at it! I find that there is nothing better than a Jo Thomas book at Christmas time because not only is the story lovely but the setting and the descriptions of all the gorgeous swiss food and chocolate is absolutely fantastic and no one can quite take you right into the story like Jo Thomas is.

Clara is a wonderful character who moves to Switzerland with her boyfriend something which is very out of character for her, but she takes a chance and signs up to become a chocolatier and so her journey begins which of course is not smooth sailing. I learned so much about chocolate from this book and never understood the work that goes into it!

One quick note....do not read if you are hungry and have no snacks on hand!

I absolutely loved this book. It is not a typical Christmas book either!
It follows the story of Clara a HR manager who has decided to take redundancy and rent her home out long term
She has met a guy on the internet who seems compatible at least in the bedroom department and he has been offered a job in Switzerland, her company will pay for her a course anywhere in the world she fancies
She has always fancied a chocolate making course so off they go
Except in Switzerland chocolatier’s are of the highest quality and their schools are too so this one Clara is at is very high end from the start even the student at least half her age are mostly from famous chocolate families. She fails her first task miserably and Daniel seems to think she is there to pick up his underwear and have sex
I loved Clara and found myself fighting for her every step of the way
Lovely book by Jo Thomas

Clara decides to make changes in her life and takes voluntary redundancy from her HR job at a department store. She makes a leap of faith and moves with her new boyfriend when he takes a job in Switzerland. As part of her redundancy package she has the opportunity to take a training course and decides to attend a training camp for chocolatiers.
This reminded me in a strange way of the film Chalet Maid where someone feels totally out of their depth, albeit with chocolate rather than snowboarding. The descriptions of the course sounded so tempting, but I'm not sure that I could take the pressure that the school attendees were under. The course mentor, Gabriel, is certainly enigmatic and I felt sorry for the course assistant, Alain, who seemed to be the underdog at the school. I felt perpetually hungry reading this book , with a yearning for chocolate, and read it almost in one sitting. The Swiss setting also sounded fantastic, I haven't been there for decades, and the emphasis on friendship also struck a chord. Although set near Christmas this is a book to enjoy at any time of the year.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
