I am glad I added this book to my December reading list.
A truly heartwarming tale with a festive feel.
As well as enjoying the themes of friendship, love and life, set to a WW2 backdrop, I actually gleaned fascinating historical information on this period.
I have not read the other books in this series, but found that this still worked well as a stand alone novel.

The next in this series and a worthy follow up. Works as a fine standalone adventure, though probably best to read the others first. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the reading copy.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from Netgalley. I love this series so was pleased to have a festive installment. I was expecting it to be centred on Thea, following the pattern of Beeby's other series, but enjoyed the focus being on Dee Dee instead. Although I felt less engaged with this book than the others, it was still an enjoyable read where I was invested in the characters. Beeby created tension and hope, and I enjoyed seeing the story develop.

For the Bomber Girls Christmas is always going to be difficult when the men they love are away. For this Christmas as the war nears it close, this one is particularly difficult as for Pearl and Jenny, those they care about are missing behind enemy lines as the countdown to Christmas begins.
For Pearls’ sister, Thea it is more stable this Christmas and their grandmother Edith moves to be nearer to the girls an reignites a romance from a long time ago. Something that her granddaughters know nothing about and it seems this Christmas is going to be very different for them all.
A lovely book and one that adds to the saga series.

Loved this book with many twists and turns. You imagined you were in their company. The characters were very real and descriptions of the area they lived brought the story to life. A real Christmas read

Festive, cute and compelling: a lovely Christmas historical novel that kept me hooked.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

As usual in my reviews I won't rehash the plot - there are reviews like that out there if that is what you are looking for...
I've read the previous two "Bomber Girls" novels by Vicki Beeby, so was delighted to be invited to read this latest book.
This is a cosy read - the story is a mix of friendship, romance and history - and features the core characters from the previous novels plus some new ones, all well written and believable. This time, we learn more about Pearl and Thea's family history - with some surprising twists.
As usual, there are multiple plot lines running through the novel, which adds extra layers of interest to the story. There's also an element of tension - I won't give away the reasons for this to avoid spoilers!
I'm hoping that there will be more stories in the "Bomber Girls" series.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.

A heartwarming world war saga featuring Deedee who is Pearl and Thea's grandmother. The war is placing there loved ones in danger and missing in action. Love and comradeship is what gets them through. A story full of emotion and courage.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I loved reading this book.
The story is mainly about Deedee who is a grandmother to Pearl and Thea.
She moves to Fenthorpe to be with Pearl after news is received by Pearl that Greg’s plane is missing. She’s trying to keep herself occupied with her work at the local paper she’s in charge of.
But, it’s not easy as her sister Thea has her boyfriend with her and Edwin who is friends with Jenny was in the same plane as Greg. So, until she hears otherwise, she will continue doing what she does with her loved ones by her side.
DeeDee hears a young girl sing when she attends church and gives her some advice, which helps the young girl when she meets Slater and decides whether to follow up on what he tells her.
DeeDee is also keeping something from her past from the girls and does it have something to do with someone close to Pearl?
I highly recommend this book.

This is the third book in the Bomber Girls series.Pearl has just got word that her husband Greg is missing after a leaflet drop .Deedee her grandmother comes to look after her ,her sister Thea is at the RAF base Fenthorpe.Pearl is working on the forces magazine with owner Thomas. It seems that Deedee knew Thomas many years ago.All are getting ready for the Christmas festivities but Pearl is finding it hard. Will Greg survive and will Deedee meet up with Thomas. Can't wait for the next book in the series.Thank you to Netgalley and Canelo.

Thank you for the chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion
I have read the other books in this series and looked forward to the next one.
Perhaps reading the author's note first was not my best decision as I knew what might happen - but this is a choice I often make .
This was well researched and well written. To provide too much information would spoil the story - lets just say that tissues are needed and one character does behave in an unexpected way. Though to be honest I am not sure I wouldn't have felt the same.
The story revolves around Deedee and her chequered past. It was hinted that she an Thomas had had some sort of relationship in the past but what was revealed was unexpected in some ways.
This is set around Christmas but isn't necessarily a Christmas story and could be read and enjoyed anytime of the year.
I am hoping that there will be more in the series and we learn more about Jenny and her relationship with Edward as well as her meteorological work
A superb read

"Some people seemed to think women her age were good for nothing apart from knitting and baking, but she could tell them a thing or two about that."
Deedee and her story were the highlight of this book for me. I loved hearing what happened to her and seeing her vivacity. I feel like stories typically don't feature romance between people in their later years, so I loved that and thought it was very sweet.
This was the first Bomber Girls book I read in the series, but I think the introduction did a wonderful job of getting me up-to-speed on who was who and what was going on.
The pacing was a bit slower for me personally, I prefer faster stories with more external plot, but I think this would be a great story for those who like lots of character development. I loved that Christmas for the Bomber Girls also addressed some uncomfortable topics like feelings of jealousy when someone else's boyfriend is safe and your husband is reported as missing in action.
All in all, this was a great, cozy holiday read with a cast of intriguing characters.

Part of a series, best read in order for background. Set during the war their is heartbreak and joy. A good read.

As with all of Vicki's books, I thoroughly enjoyed this! The story was engaging and had moments of humour as well as some more serious issues. Vicki always manages to bring a smile to the reader's face as well as having moments where you find it hard not to cry. Can't wait to see what happens next!

this is a book in a series, I think you would enjoy it more if you had read the other books . lovely story set during christmas.

It was a joy to be back with the familiar Bomber Girl series characters.
There were several strands to this story, which mainly centred around Deedee, the grandmother of Pearl and Thea. I enjoyed the revelations of Deedee’s past which inevitably impacted the present and the ongoing stories of Pearl, Thea and Jenny.
The background tension associated with Pearl’s husband, Greg going missing on a flight over Europe and its impact on Pearl and her relationships with those around her, made me think about how many people, including in my own family, must have struggled day to day with similar lack of information and confusion in WW2.
I was fascinated by the inventiveness required in the war to provide festive cheer with limited resources.
Vicki Beeby has once again skilfully produced a novel which is easy to read, full of interest and evoked many emotions in response to the story. I am looking forward to the next book in this series already.

Nice addition to the series with plenty of holiday touches. Cannot be read as a standalone but if you are a fan of the series, this book is for you!

As a fan of Christmas and holiday romances, as well as stories set in England during WWII, I was eager to dive into "Christmas for the Bomber Girls" by Vicki Beeby.
Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, the story follows a group of brave women working as "bomber girls," delivering supplies and support. Beeby captures the challenges they face while highlighting their strength and determination. The holiday setting adds a lovely warmth, reminding us of hope and love even in the darkest times.
I appreciated the well-drawn characters and their evolving relationships, which added depth to the narrative. The festive elements blended seamlessly with the historical context, creating a captivating read.
While I loved the overall vibe, some plot points felt a touch predictable. However, the charm of the story and its celebration of community and love during Christmas more than made up for it.
Overall, "Christmas for the Bomber Girls" is a delightful addition to both the holiday and historical fiction genres. Perfect for a cozy read during the festive season!
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.

Absolutely loved this instalment of the Bomber Girls, mainly as it centres on DeeDee who is one special grandmother to Pearl and Thea. DeeDee decides to move to Fenthorpe to support Pearl after finding out that Greg’s plane is missing Pearl is using her work at the “Bombshell” to keep herself occupied and hopefully stop thinking about Greg and what May have happened to him”. This becomes impossible without upsetting sister Thea and friend Jenny boyfriends Fitz & Edwin were in the same plane. So until there is more news Pearl tries to soldier on with the help of DeeDee. Does DeeDee have another interest in the village? While staying in town DeeDee gets to hear a o young girl sing who sounds promising and decides to offer some words of wisdom which prove invaluable when faced with nasty Slater.
I personally liked that the story centred on slightly older person, who it has to be said had a young and wise outlook on life. The bit about her undergarments was funny. As usual I enjoyed Jenny’s mispronunciation.
I always think when reading a part where the author has written offering advice to a character to make them look at something differently, that the author themselves must be quite wise!
Look forward to the next instalment.

Another lovely festive read in this series. It was great to go back to these characters again. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review .
