I was asked to review by NetGalley - what a great read. the characters werw real and likeable.
What was interesting was the relationship of the family and estranged brother which runs through the story.
There were highs and lows but incredible strength which I enjoyed also.
A recommended read
This book was very well written and the descriptions of the scenes make it feel as if you are there.
The story is a little predictable in places but is still very funny and true to life
Thank you to Troubador and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Travellers in Transit got a 3* rating from me. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy it, I did. It was an easy read with an enjoyable writing style. The characters were well developed with great realistic backstories. I just felt there was something missing for me. I loved the aspect of the story being based around 1 family with multiple backstories, secrets and mystery from every angle. The 'we all know each other but do we really know each other?' angle of the story is probably what kept me wanting to read more on this one!
I felt that the ending was very predictable and there was no real big turning point or reasoning to the story, it felt a little stretched out to me. I did however love that the story viewpoint went between the past and the present and that we got an insight to the history of the family and some of the characters and felt that in places, that added depth to the story. I think maybe more of this and I would've enjoyed the book that much more.
Overall though, an enjoyable, easy read and if you're looking for something that's uncomplicated and simple to follow, i'd definitely recommend it!
At 31, Cassi finds herself at a pivotal moment in her life. With growing doubts about her impending marriage to Daniel, a sense of monotony in her job, and strained relationships with family and friends, she feels the weight of indecision pressing down on her. Yearning for solitude and the opportunity to reflect, Cassi embraces her grandmother’s request to clear out an attic in an otherwise vacant house, viewing it as a chance to escape her current turmoil.
However, as she begins to sift through the attic's contents, she discovers she is not alone. The remnants of her family's past—forgotten artifacts, hidden letters, and untold stories—begin to surface, intertwining with her own struggles. As Cassi unearths these family secrets, she confronts the complexities of her lineage and the choices that have shaped her family history.
Will these revelations provide the clarity she seeks, illuminating the path ahead and guiding her toward a deeper understanding of herself and her relationships? As Cassi navigates the delicate balance between past and present, she must decide whether to embrace the lessons of her family's history or forge her own future, unburdened by expectations.
