This plot felt like a slow burn and was quite predictable for my tastes; however, I’m glad I read it all the way through. The characters were complex, and the sensitive writing style effectively depicted the abusive relationship storyline.

Although I anticipated the conclusion before reaching the climax, I still found it enjoyable. This would make a great quick read for fans of this genre.

Was it the best book I’ve ever read? Not by a long shot! But was it worth the read? Absolutely!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to receive an eGalley of this novel in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I wanted to love this book, but for some reason, it just wasn't working for me. I think it was the dialogue feeling a bit forced and the attitude of the main character not really clicking. The format of the eGalley on my Kindle was also a little disjointed that made reading a smidge clunky.

Overall, I just wasn't able to get fully invested in the plot, so I made the decision about 25% of the way into the novel to move on. I do not want my review to scare anyone else away, I feel this book just wasn't a great fit for me as a reader, but others will certainly enjoy it based on the positive reviews I have seen coming out.

I have acquired a love for books with Desperate Housewives vibes. The trope of women banding together amidst mystery, death, and chaos.

Thanks for the opportunity to read this advanced copy. In the beginning I was honestly not sure if I was going to like or want to finish this book. I’m glad I stuck with it and gave it a chance. One man, multiple women. So many secret lives and of course it finally comes tumbling down. Give it a chance and read this book!

This book was wild. It started off so strong with a group of scorned women banding together to figure out what is really going on with Sean, the man they are all dating and ended with them setting up a ridiculous plan to give him a heart attack. I would not read this book again or recommend it.

Very quick read but not without its challenges in that most of the characters’ names start with the same letter. The plot isn’t heavy and I did not gel with anyone particularly.

A woman looking for love that falls for a man who isn't what he seems is not a new plot line but Julie Edelman took that same plot line added some distinctly different characters and upped the game of payback is a bitch!!!!

In THE ACCIDENTAL SISTERHOOD, Jules Malone is a divorced mother stepping back into the dating game when she meets Sean. Maybe he's not Prince Charming but she already has two strikes in choosing the man of her dreams. Julie Edelman spends the first few chapters introducing us to Jules and building the back story. When the fairy tale explodes and she finds herself as one of four women in Sean's harem, she will join forces with the other three to see that Sean realizes his mistakes.

This was a truly entertaining story that will be enjoyed by anyone who would love to see the playboy get his just desserts at the hands of those he had played. 5 easy stars.

I flew through this book! It felt like I was listening to a story from a friend. I found the storyline to be predictable but you just can’t go wrong with a story about girls coming together to get revenge. It definitely wasn’t the most complex read but would make a great palette cleanser/ quick day read. 4 stars!

I usually like mystery (or thriller or horror) stories envolving sisterhoods or brotherhoods, so I was eager to read this one.
Fortunately, this book ended up being not what I expected - but in a good way - which doesn't happen very often.
This story is deeper and more realistic than I could have thought, with believable characters, too - which made it easier to care for what was going on.

This may be due to the version NetGalley have delivered it, but there was ALOT of issues with the formatting. Lines broke off half way though, there was no paragraph spacing at all and chapter titles and headings read like part of the text, and it was hard to distinguish when a new chapter began because of it. I also feel like this needs more ‘editing’ as there was multiple grammar errors and spelling mistakes that a simple proof read would have caught. However - again, these are issues that may come from the version NetGalley have sent over - it is an ARC after all! But worth the publishers checking over before it gets officially released.

As for the book itsself - the premise is a good one! Multiple woman scorned by the same man and form ‘the accidental sisterhood’ I liked the premise! Although all those ‘J’s got confusing and I was starting to struggle with who was who as they were all such similar J names. It was very easy to follow but I found the MC to be a bit annoying - she came across as MUCH younger and it was so hard to believe she was in her 50s in the book. She acted very immature and her actions definitely do not reflect her age! And the overuse of the words ‘dickmatized’ and ‘fluck’ had me cringing.

All in all, it wasn’t ‘bad’ per-se, it has soooo much promise with some editing and a bit of a refine the book can really be something!

This was an interesting read. What made me enjoy the plot was how four women came together to protect each other. Especially given the circumstances as to how they connected. Jules, divorced, one son has not been on a date since her divorce. Her best friend Tess encourages her to get back out there. She meets Sean Connors, they begin dating. Sean father of two and in the process of divorce. This is where things become interesting and not appear as they should. Lots of twist and turns, women empowering women, a bit of a mystery-thriller, and good old fashion humor and romance all bunched together. The ending did surprise me. I do recommend reading. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy.

📚 PRE-PUBLICATION BOOK REVIEW 📚

The Accidental Sisterhood By Julie Edelman
Publication Date: October 8, 2024
Publisher: Self-Published

📚MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐✨
(Rounded Up To 4⭐)

📚MY REVIEW:

The Accidental Sisterhood is the perfect book for anyone who enjoys revenge thrillers or thrillers that feature plotlines about the empowerment and strength of women standing up for themselves!

This was a very quick read - I read it in less than three hours - and it felt like light reading. There were some parts of the writing that were incredibly detailed, but other parts in which the writing seemed to move at warp speed by glossing over big segments of time. Sometimes I liked it because the author honed in on what really mattered to understand the story... At other times though, the timeline of the book moved so quickly that I felt like I was just skimming the book, despite the fact I was actually reading and digesting every word.

Though it was a slow burn initially, the plot did pick up about halfway through and I did really enjoy the second half of the book! I think the toughest part of this entire story for me was having to suspend my disbelief so often. I felt like the protagonists were all strong and accomplished women - and Edelman spent time ensuring the readers understood their strength. Yet the book was filled with red flags for our MC Jules, again and again, and she continuously ignored them or seemed to not want to deal with her questions simply because of some good sex? For me personally, there were too many "oh wells" from an incredibly intelligent and independent woman. And there were so many more ignored red flags as the story developed...I struggled to believe all those red flags would have been so willingly tolerated. I'll tell you though, the antagonist Sean was definitely an easy character to despise. Didn't have to suspend any disbelief for that!

Overall, I enjoyed this book and felt like it was a fun, easy read! Fans of books like The Mrs. Parrish series from Liv Constantine or The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose would probably enjoy this book. Or if revenge thrillers, avenging betrayals, and strong women are your vibe, be sure to add this one to your TBR! Thank you to NetGalley and the author herself for gifting me an advanced e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a story about 4 women sharing full lives with one man and the sisterhood that is born from their shocking experiences.

This story started off a little slow, it didn’t hook me right away, but it was worth sticking it out. It really picked up about 30% of the way in, it started getting exciting! Once I hit half way through, I couldn’t stop reading! It contained a lot of humor and I love when a thriller makes me laugh. The scandalous twists are perfect! If you like exciting stories of revenge, this one’s for you!!

Once The Accidental Sisterhood sucked me in, I wasn’t able to put it down. Jules is a very likable character, and I enjoyed following her story. Julie Edelman did a superb job of building up her characters while telling a story of powerful women that may have fallen for the wrong guy. This isn’t my typical read as I like books to be more twisty, but I really enjoyed this book! Thank you to NetGalley and Julie Edelman for providing me with this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
