I skimmed through this book to check out the recipes and see if I would find any I would like to make and I didn’t find any at all. Beautiful photos, interesting recipes.

The cover to this cookbook immediately drew me. It is such a beautiful cover. After looking through this cookbook I was a little intimidated by the recipes. The measurements for ingredients are weight which I feel is not the most convenient for a busy mom. Overall, the recipes look delicious and the directions seem straightforward.

Comprehensive cookbook with plenty of baking recipes to last the season. I’d say this is a bit of an intermediary cookbook, and really appreciated the range of options.

Filled with so many yummy looking christmas themed deserts! I want to try them all! They're well organized into different categories (cookies, cakes) So it's easy to find the one you're wanting to try next.

Today is our town’s “famous” cookie sale by the Friends of the Library – members bake dozens and dozens of holiday-themed cookies and sell them as an annual fundraiser. I’m one of the members, and I have a good stock of reliable recipes, but this book will up my game for sure! The cover is spectacular, isn’t it? The book is organized into six sections – the first and biggest section is cookies, of course. There are the classics – decorated sugar cookies and gingerbread cutouts, biscotti, chocolate crinkles, snickerdoodles – and some appealing recipes that are new to me – pfeffernüsse, madeleines, and the intriguing-looking cranberry, pumpkin seed and chocolate chip cookie, studded red and green. There are also five other sections for special desserts for your holiday table – cakes, breads, pies & tarts, pastries, custards & more, as well as a helpful appendix and an excellent index. Here’s what you won’t find – any information on the origin of the recipes, which is too bad. I recognize some of them as Scandinavian and European, of course, but others are brand-new to me, and I would have loved to know more about the traditions for these. The recipes also seem cobbled together; for editors, they kind of dropped the ball. Some of the recipes use cups; others use weights, and in ounces rather than grams. And the amounts are rather bizarre: 12 and 3/4 oz of flour translates into 361 grams. Huh? But it’s the inconsistency that irritates; I wish they had chosen one method and applied it across all the recipes. The digital copy I read had lovely full-colour photos for pretty much all the recipes I think, which is always a plus in a recipe book. Photos inspire you to try, so I appreciate their inclusion. There are a few gluten-free recipes, though they aren’t marked as such. No nutrition information is provided, though each recipe lists yield, active time and total time for completion. The appendix includes instructions on making royal icing, fillings, ganache, pie crust and more, as well as a conversion table for weights, volumes, temperature and lengths. My thanks to Cider Mill Press for the digital review copy provided through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to both the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc of this book. I find this book to be very well organised and it also offers a wide range of recipes, although I am not entirely sure whether all of them were truly Christmas themed. I would have appreciated more pictures, especially as some of the recipe are more complex. I think more personal touch would have been quite nice, although I understand that when you have more than or two author that could be harder to achieve. Overall, I think it's pretty nice, especially if you are a somewhat experienced baker.

Just what I needed to get the holiday baking started!

I knew as soon as I opened the PDF to review this book, I had to have it. A few days later it arrived at my door and I have been baking since. LOL. This book covers all of your holiday baking, everything from cookies to cakes, scones, muffins, sticky buns, bread, and more.

I found the recipes easy to follow and loved the images of the finished product.

Start with the Orange Cardamom cake, yummy!

Anyone who wants to make good treats for Christmas will want to pick up The Christmas Baking Cookbook: ’Tis the Season for 100+ Festive Treats. This cookbook is authored by the Editors of the Cider Mill Press. It has dozens of mouthwatering recipes that are festive and mouthwatering. The problem with editors as opposed to a single author is that the book lacks the personalization that comes with getting to know a cookbook author who is * and lets his/her personality show through in the recipes. It also means that there aren’t any personal notes at the beginning of each recipe with tips, origin, or vignettes. The book is a bit impersonal for that reason, but that shouldn’t stop someone from loving it since it contains so many seasonal treats.

The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow for both beginning and advanced bakers. All of the recipes make very small amounts, making it necessary for most of us who make Christmas cookies to give to neighbors and friends to double or quadruple the recipes. For special diets, there are a few recipes for gluten free and vegan – helpful for some. The cookbook includes a good variety of recipes: cookies, cakes, puddings, holiday breads, pastries, pies and tarts, and candies.

One of the best things about this cookbook is that every recipe includes a beautiful, professional photograph of the finished product.

All told, even though there are no personal notes and just a book full of recipes, this is an excellent cookbook because it contains so many fabulous recipes. The ones I have tried so far have turned out picture perfect, and every time I pick up this cookbook, I find something new I want to add to my “must make” queue.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

The Christmas Baking Cookbook focuses on unique Christmas treats. I enjoyed how there were classic Christmas treats mixed in with treats from around the world. Although some recipes required specific tools or ingredients that aren't as readily accessible in most households.

The Sections are
cookies
cakes
breads and breakfast treats
pastries
pies and tarts
custards and other decadent confections

Each recipe has yields, active time, total time, ingredients and directions. Most have pictures of the treats. I wish all of the treats had pictures as they looked scrumptious and beautiful.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is an impressive collection of 100 Christmas baking recipes to choose from when preparing sweet treats for Christmas. Many recipes are classics like the gingerbread cakes, the snowman cookies, stollen, panettone and much more. Others have a modern twist, such as the matcha Christmas trees. There is something for every taste, from simple cookies to mouthwatering desserts.
The recipes are well explained and complete. The quantities need to be converted from American standards and the units of measure are not always consistent in the book. Something to keep an eye on, especially for the less experienced bakers. Clearly this is a book of recipes. I would love to know more about the authors and the story behind the recipes. This was something I missed a little.
With its beautiful pictures, the book brings the recipes to life and we can almost smell the delicious spicy aroma of Christmas baking. It is a beautiful book full of inspiration in the run up to Christmas.

Bring it on! Every year, I mark the passing of time with the recipes I make. This cookbook has some scrumptious recipes that will find themselves on our holiday tables- even snuck in throughout the year. I am especially appreciative of the beautiful photos and the clearly explained recipes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.

They honestly could remove the word Christmas from this title because honestly, this is just the best baking cookbook ever. The recipes are super diverse. I found recipes I haven’t seen since my German grandmother passed away! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
