I loved the ideas and recipes in the book.
I tried the Madeleines and the Pfeffernusse recipes and both turned out fantastic! I love pfeffernusse with my coffee. My family ate the madeleines right up. Just a side note: The recipes are a bit inconsistent by mixing weight (ounces) with volume (cups and teaspoons) measurements. Not a deal-breaker by any means. Just be sure you're prepared to measure both ways (a kitchen scale and a set of measuring cups/spoons).
I was a little disappointed that there wasn't some sort of background about the various regions/cultures/countries the recipes came from. It would have been cool to have an explanation of the significance/folklore/tradition, as well.
Overall I recommend this cookbook if you're feeling adventurous during the holidays, or any time, really. This collection of world flavors is amazing.

The Christmas Baking Cookbook by Editors of Cider Mill Press is a delightful and indispensable addition to any holiday kitchen. This beautifully curated collection of recipes captures the essence of Christmas baking, offering a wide variety of treats that are sure to bring joy and warmth to your holiday celebrations.
The cookbook is filled with mouth-watering recipes, ranging from classic cookies and cakes to innovative desserts and festive breads. Each recipe is clearly written and easy to follow, making it accessible for bakers of all skill levels. The stunning photography throughout the book not only showcases the delicious results but also provides inspiration for presentation and decoration.
One of the standout features of this cookbook is its attention to detail and the inclusion of helpful tips and tricks. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a novice, you'll find valuable advice on techniques, ingredient substitutions, and creative variations to make each recipe your own.
The Christmas Baking Cookbook also includes heartwarming anecdotes and holiday traditions, adding a personal touch that makes it more than just a collection of recipes. It's a celebration of the joy and togetherness that baking can bring during the festive season.
Overall, The Christmas Baking Cookbook is a must-have for anyone who loves to bake and wants to create memorable holiday treats. It's a perfect gift for yourself or the baking enthusiasts in your life. Highly recommended!

A festive baking delight! And such a pretty cookbook. There So many cosy and comforting recipes for the holiday season/colder months! I can’t wait to try more recipes next Christmas. I would say some of the recipes needed a bit more detail/explanation and sometimes the way the measurements were written made it a bit clunky to follow.

I love Christmas and after reading many cookbooks with this theme, I didn't have high expectations, but this book managed to surprise me in the most pleasant way.
While looking at the recipes, I was transported back in time to many Christmases I celebrated when I was younger, but I also found mouth-watering recipes of goods that I usually see in the Christmas movies.
This book is filled with plenty of recipes, so anyone has something to pick from, including (but clearly, not a lot of them) vegan and gluten free recipes (not only variations). Each recipes comes with a photo (there were actually a few that didn't have the photo right next to them, because it was used at the beginning of the chapter) and information about how much portions you get, how long does it take to make and after how many hours it will be ready to eat, a list of ingredients (only with imperial units) and clear instructions.
Personally, I really liked this book because it uses so many traditional recipes and you can totally find your perfect festive dessert. I would have liked to have both measurements listed, but I can always do a quick google search to convert them or simply use the cups/teaspoon tools since I got them especially to be able to do this type of recipes.

This cookbook is well organized and straight to the point which I love. There are also various recipes from all over the world which makes for a fun time baking different items. There are even tips and tricks included to help with baking which is very much needed.
Thank you to the Editors of Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book!

The Christmas Baking Cook Book is a collection of 100 festive, deliciously simple recipes with step by step instructions.
This recipe book includes a good selection of treats and desserts from cookies, cakes, breads, pastries, pies, tarts and custards and I loved the mouthwatering pictures of the desserts the most.
I highly recommend to all home bakers and for anyone looking for inspiration to make festive desserts over the Christmas holiday season. This book will also make a perfect, wonderful gift for home bakers or anyone inspiring to bake over the festive holidays.

There are some beautiful recipes in this book. Perfect to get for yourself before Christmas or to gift to others who love baking. Ideal for a beginner too, which is really lovely.

Disappointed at the lack of personality in this cookbook. It did not feel cohesive. It's just recipes and even recipe magazine offer you a few personal phrases before they go into the recipe - there was room at least for a few notes on the traditional cakes and cookies and traditions or the more wintery ingredients.
No recipe caught my eye because I felt like I was browsing Pinterest in search for a cookie recipe, rather than a Christmasy cookbook.

I love a good cookbook. I love curling up with a coffee and a pretty cookbook, flipping through the pictures and imagining my kids would actually eat anything I made out of them. We all have dreams.
Christmas cookbooks are my favorite.
This one has a great variety of recipes that covers a real cross section of traditions and regions. Everyone’s holiday favorites are likely on these pages. Danish and Jewish recipes, German favorites like the ones I grew up with, Italian ones that look like art and traditional American favorites are all included to name a few.
While I see the Value to the minimalist approach I would have loved to see at least a one line description of the treat and where it originates. As it was, it was essentially a collection of recipe cards but, given that so many beautiful traditions were included, it would have been neat to see some of the background. I love that stuff.
The photos are beautiful. I eat that up. Make them bright and beautiful but not too busy and my photographer heart is happy.
The Recipes are well written and made accessible. Even trickier items felt like they would be easy to make given the good instruction. I’ve already made the harvest sourdough and it was delish! My only complaint is that measurement units changed within the recipe. They used cups, grams, and ounces in same recipe. It’s a bit of a personal pet peeve. I just find it confusing.
Overall I really enjoyed it and am thankful to @netgalley and @cidermillpress for my e arc. I wouldn’t be sad if Santa is reading this and a hard copy came my way!

I love flipping through new cookbooks to see if it would be one that I would need for my kitchen and unfortunately this one didn’t make the cut.
While the pictures are very enticing, the recipes and some of the flavor combinations are definitely not for the everyday baker. Now, I am the family member that does ALL of the Christmas baking for our get togethers, so I’m very familiar with baking and trying a range of recipes. This cookbook just didn’t match my kind of baking.
Also worth noting that you need a kitchen scale as they do not give cup measurements for flour etc.

I appreciate that this cookbook’s recipes are measured by weight and not by cups, it makes it easier to get the best consistent results each time. The other thing I really like is that there are pictures for every recipe, we eat with our eyes first and if something doesn’t look appealing, I don’t want to waste my time or ingredients making it. While they do have their specialty Christmas recipes, there are still classics like Chocolate chip cookies, coconut macaroons, brownies, macarons, snickerdoodles, etc. I am looking forward to trying the Lebkuchen cookie, it is a German cookie that is often eaten around the holidays. Beautiful cookbook, looking forward to making plenty of recipes in the future.

I really enjoyed this cookbook. My library will likely not purchase it because of its holiday theming, but I would recommend it to people who are looking for holiday recipes.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this delightful cookbook! It’s packed with an array of holiday baking recipes—cookies, muffins, cakes, gluten-free treats, bread, breakfast options, pastries, pies, and tarts from various cuisines. Plus, there are glazes, fillings, and handy metric conversions. The inclusion of end-result photos is fantastic. I can’t wait to dive into all the recipes! This book is bound to be a favorite in my kitchen. It also made my 8 year old very excited to bake. Happy Holiday Baking!"

This was a fun baking cookbook full of Christmas themed recipes. I enjoyed flipping through it. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for review.

Overall, the recipes felt generic but it was helpful to have them all in the same place. I would recommend this to someone who is looking for beginner Christmas baking recipes.
If you already have your own baking recipes, this book probably won't provide you with anything new.

This baking book was fantastic. The pictures were fantastically deliciously wonderful! What yummy recipes!

When it comes to cookbooks, I usually only like one or two recipes from the whole book, but I want to make almost everything in this book. If you want one book with all the classic older style cookies, this is the book for you. I honestly think that this should be a basic cookbook that everyone should have if you are wanting to bake. I will definitely be making a lot of these throughout the whole year, not just the winter.

Great Christmas gift! Lots of delicious looking recipes to bake and be merry this Christmas. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

Thank you for letting me review this cookbook! There are so many classic recipes to choose from, with a few unique options as well. Such a great selection! I wish there were a few more photos to accompany the recipes but that’s a small critique.
I loved the cover - so festive and inviting. Everything was easy to find as well. If you’re after a Christmassy cookbook with lots of classic recipes, this is the book for you!

A great little cookbook that would make for a nice housewarming or Christmas gift for anyone that loves to bake. The pages are packed with easy to follow recipes that use simple ingredients and each recipe has a mouthwatering photo (a must for me with cookbooks). I will definitely be adding the cookbook to my collection.
Thank you to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the opportunity to preview an advance digital copy of this cookbook in exchange for my honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.
