This is a great wee recipe book! Me and my flatmate made the snowman cookies and found the recipe easy to follow (and the cookies tasted great!)
We did haave to convert a few things as it uses american measurements which was mildly annoying and got quite confused and had to google what few good ingredients were like molasses and apple pie spice. In the end we just picked a recipe that didnt have any of those for ease.
I think this is a very cute Christmas recipe book but I would like it a lot better if it was more fit for european audiences.

This is a great Christmas cookbook full of Holiday treats. There are so many recipes to choose from - classics, to old-fashioned favorites. I had heard of many of these recipes but there were also some different ethnic recipes that I’m interested to try.

The pictures are really beautiful, too.

Anyone who loves Holiday baking will appreciate this cookbook!

Nothing beats the smell of baked goodies, The Christmas Baking Cookbook is filled with over 100 delicious baking recipes, beautiful photograghs of finished goods, and the recipes are easy to follow.

The cookbook is broken down in six categories, plus an Appenix that has all the necessary recipes from Royal Icing to the perfect crust all with easy to follow directions to achieve perfection.

The categories: Cookies, Cakes, Breads & Breakfast treats, Pastries, Pies & Tarts, Custards & other Decadent confections. Eash recipe choosen embodies an element of the Christmas spirit that is inhabited by all of us.

The first recipe to try, the Classic Gingerbread Cookies, the recipe is written in easy to follow steps that are not complicated. Measurements are easily identified next to the ingredients and written in such a manner that you cannot miss a step or ingredient as you work through the steps. There is a clear indication on the yield of the recipe, time preparing and total cooking time are listed just under the recipe name. Nothing beats making Gingerbread men and women and decorating them with children or even as a couples activity.

For the more traditional recipes, there is the Stollen, which is the only recipe that takes 4 days to complete. The steps are easy to follow again and you wouldn’t know that it has taken you that long to make it. The most pressing time consuming part of the recipe is soaking the dried fruits overnight and then letting the dough rest and rise a few times before baking in the oven. Although, I would immediately bypass a recipe that is very time consuming, I will be tackling this recipe during the holidays, it yields 2 loaves, so that means there will be plenty to share at Christmas.

There is a conversion chart is at the back of the book before the index, so those who don’t use oz or F in their everyday cooking can easily convert of grams and C.

This book is really an essential book to have in your library. Start a new family tradition with baking goodies with the family or as part of a couples activity.

Amazing and varied recipes for delicious holiday baking. The recipes are all paired with photographs which I really appreciated, and the instructions are simple, clear, and easy to follow. The book also featured a nice variety of treats that depart from the standard Christmas cookies and pastries, such as custards and pies. I can’t wait to start baking the recipes for my friends and family!

4/5 ⭐️
Thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is quite a collection of holiday dessert recipes! Mostly cookies, but there’s plenty of other goodies too. All the classics are here, but there’s enough unique recipes to tickle your fancy and get you excited about trying something new too. My only complaint is that the photos didn’t seem to perfectly match what the recipes told the reader to do do.

I would definitely purchase this cookbook to add to my collection and I will be trying some of the recipes during my holiday baking this year!!
The photographs of the finished product are very high quality and give a very good idea of what your final product should look like!

There are a few gramatical issues that I found, also the inconsistency in units of measurement for ingredients is bothersome and could prove to be challenging in the kitchen, and I feel that some of the recipes should be in different categories but putting those small issues aside this is a very well designed and thought out cookbook.

The Christmas Baking Cookbook is a fun cookbook that includes many unique recipes. I appreciated that this cookbook isn't simply regular Christmas recipes you can find on the internet. Though it has some classics, it includes many recipes from different cultures and places and twists on traditional recipes. For example, one of the recipes I immediately saved was gingerbread madelines and another was cranberry, orange, pistachio biscotti. These recipes will surely be a hit and this cookbook is a great resource for anyone who loves holiday baking or who is looking to expand their holiday baking offerings, like I am. One thing I missed in this book was personality; this will be different for every reader. For me, I wanted a lit bit of narrative about the recipes -- are there any keys to success? Anything the author learned making them? Or maybe a reason they're special or something they might symbolize? Or even an idea for how they've wrapped them or paired them for gift giving. If you're a person who wants just a cookbook with recipes and nothing else, this will be perfect for you. If you want just the facts this is for you. I would recommend this as a fantastic gift for any baker; anyone who loves to bake will surely use and enjoy this and it would be great paired with a nice baking tool.

This book has it all: custards, pies, tarts, pastries, breads and breakfast treats, cakes, and cookies.
The recipes are written in an easy-to-follow way, but I wish the measurements were also given in grams, to save non-American readers from having to do the additional search.
The photos make the baked goods look super delicious and motivate you to try the recipes.

This cookbook was promising but the recipes don't have photos of all the steps and some are particularly difficult to prepare if you don't already have experience

Furthermore, some recipes, although festive, are not strictly Christmas

I like that it has measurement and temperature conversion tables and some basic recipes at the end of the book

I'll try some of the recipes

Thanks to the author and publisher for making it available on NetGalley

This is a pretty basic christmas baking cookbook, but I don't think this is a bad thing. It's a good go-to resource that keeps you from having to spend hours scrolling through Pinterest comparing recipes and websites congested with ads and pop-ups. I appreciate the global aspect to this book too, having sweets from around the world and not just traditionally European and American recipes you often see. I'm excited to try the Alfajores and the gingerbread muffins. I think it's a solid book to have on your shelf for the holiday baking season.

I begin planning out my Christmas baking starting in August or September each year, poring over cookbooks and seasonal baking magazines from years past, looking for new recipes or new twists on old recipes. I will always reach for a cookbook that has the words “Christmas” and Baking” in its title.

This cookbook contains plenty of new-to-me recipes and ideas but also plenty of old favorites. The instructions are relatively clear and the photography depicts some luscious creations. My only issue with this book is that there are no introductions or words of wisdom with each recipe. You get the title, the ingredients, and the instructions. This makes it a completely serviceable book but somewhat disappointing for a cookbook reader like me. Bakers who prefer a no-nonsense approach to cookbooks will definitely appreciate the stripped down character of this book. I will definitely buy it for the recipes.

I don’t recall ever having to mop up drool before, but I certainly did while reading this amazing new book, The Christmas Baking Cookbook: ‘Tis the Season for 100+ Festive Treats from Cider Mill Press. It is absolutely GORGEOUS!

Some years I can be a bit of a Scrooge, but paging through this book makes that an impossibility. All I want to do is go into the kitchen and bake; there are 40 recipes for cookies alone! Often times baking books will just regurgitate recipes from the past that, while we all enjoy, we don’t need to see again. That is not the case in this book. I don’t think I have ever seen such a varied assortment of recipes, 90% of them new to me, 100% I want to get into the kitchen and bake.

The book is divided into six sections as follows:

Cookies
Cakes
Bread and Breakfast Treats
Pastries
Pies and Tarts
Custards and Other Decadent Confections

Each section features a wide variety of offerings, one more mouthwatering than the other. There is a corresponding photo for nearly every recipe, and directions that are clear and concise.

At the back of the book, there is a comprehensive conversion chart, as well as an index, something I used to expect in every cookbook, but that are, sadly, beginning to disappear. This index is well put together, and at least in my case, will be well used.

For the holiday season coming up, this could be your baking Bible. I can’t wait to dig in and get started. This would make a wonderful gift or hostess gift.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for providing me with an advanced digital copy in exchange for review.

This is a wonderful cookbook that brings together an incredible variety of recipes from all corners of the culinary world! Some dishes are so unique that you rarely see them in any other cookbook, so it’s fantastic to have them all in one place. This is definitely a cookbook worth considering if you’re on the lookout for something comprehensive and eclectic.

The only downside is that the measurements are designed solely for American readers, which means that as a European, I need to convert them—an extra step that can sometimes lead to slight inaccuracies. Additionally—and this is just a thought—it would have been interesting if each recipe included a note about its origin or a bit of backstory. Learning about the cultural context or history behind a dish can really add to the cooking experience.

Otherwise, this is a very thorough cookbook, and I plan to try out plenty of recipes from it. After all, the holiday season is right around the corner! 😊

Thank you so much, NetGalley and Editors of Cider Mill Press, for this fantastic reading experience and for the ARC copy!
