I absolutely devoured this - Nolan and Lottie are so sweet and I was so happy to finally read their story!

I can’t wait to read more books in this series too, Ally Wiegand is such a gem.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc. 🫶🏻

As good as the first one. The writing is immaculate, the plot, the vibe, everything.
Lottie is so smart, so cute and so likeable. Her relationship with Nolan is so cute and relatable. There's a real alchemy.

The Chicago heartbreakers may be one of my favourite book series. !

I was such a big fan of the first one in the series and when i got this one as an Arc I was so excited. This book honestly did not disappoint.

The two main characters Nolan and Lottie were made for each other. From the very first moment they met I knew then and there that this may be one of my favourite book couples. I could tell from the very first chapter that this book was going to give me all the emotions. I enjoyed the team as the side characters and enjoyed the aspect of seeing them as one big family. I also loved that the books are slightly connected with the appearance of the couple Maggie and Tommy from the first book.

I really enjoyed this book and if you are ever looking for a sports romance then look no further. Going For Two is cute and will make you laugh out loud. You will not want to put this down.
I cannot wait for the next book in the series !

*Thank you to Embla Books and NetGalley for providing me this arc in return for an honest review*

"Going For Two" delivers a delightful grumpy sunshine romance filled with tension and chemistry. Lottie Thompson, a determined physio, is unimpressed by the legendary quarterback Nolan Hill's charm and stubbornness. Their initial rivalry sparks when they strike a deal: his commitment to rehab in exchange for helping her fulfill a bucket list. As their professional partnership intensifies, so does the undeniable attraction between them. Ally Wiegand expertly balances humor and steamy moments, making for an engaging read. With strong character dynamics and a fresh take on sports romance, this story is a perfect blend of competition and heart!

The second book in any series always has a lot to live up to. Lots of expectations about old and new characters. This book succeeds in all these aspects in a spectacular way! I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I liked this one just as much, maybe even more! The angst and tension between the two main characters made them work really hard for the HEA. The FMC's past relationships and the MMCs insecurities about the future makes the character growth a necessity for them to come together, and you know how I love character growth! Great work Ally and I can't wait to see who is next in the series!

Big thanks to Netgalley, Embla books and Ally Weigand for a copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

The second book in the Chicago Heartbreakers series follows Lottie and Nolan's journey through American Football. The blend of romance and sports is captivating, with the two main characters sparking chemistry from the beginning. It was also delightful to see characters from the first book make appearances. My gratitude to Net Galley for the advance copy.

The story of Nolan and Lottie. She is the new physio for his team, but will he listen to her advice to help him finish off the season? I liked how it was told from both points of view and how it highlights how much harder women need to work to get noticed in some roles.

GOING FOR TWO- ALLY
WIEGAND - ARG
I was so shocked to find out this was Lotties story and not Olivia's! But I loved that it was a football story! I love how Ally has mixed the teams and made them all friends!
Lottie is such a grown up and has been solely focused on her career so her friend and sister make her a list of things she needs to do - a bucket list of sorts!
Nolan is about to retire but his last year has been plagued by injuries and he's so scared it won't end the way he wants and he terrified of what the future holds!
Can they both help each other face the future and find peace?
Can't wait for the next book to see if Olivia gets her happy ending!

The second installment of the Chicago Heartbreakers, this story follows Lottie and Nolan through American Football. I enjoyed the intertwining aspect of romance and sport, the two main characters sizzle from the start! It was great to see characters from the first book pop up too. Although I didn't enjoy this much as I did the first one, it was an enjoyable escapism. Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy

This book was such a brilliant follow up from ally wiegand first book. I don't know what it is about a sport romance and makes for such a good romance but it really does. I loved the chemistry between these two and how they made each other better..
I loved that the characters had their own struggles.
Definitely looking forward to reading more from ally wiegand

Going for Two is the second instalment in the Chicago Heartbreaker series. In this one, we follow a new sport and two new protagonists, Lottie and Nolan.

Much like the first, I really love how Wiegand managed to balance the sport / workplace aspect with the romance. I also really loved the team and the side character and I loved how the series is interconnected, so it was great to see Maggie and Tommy and co. keep popping back in.

I felt like both characters got adequate page time and character development, however I do wish we got to explore what it is like for Lottie to be a woman in the industry. This was touched upon, however it wasn’t really explored in depth. Alternatively, Lottie had mentioned she was at peace with where she was at in her career etc…and there seemed to be space to explore this particular storyline more with a reporter. Potential future book maybe?!

3.75 stars rounded up. It’s not quite higher because I felt some parts felt bit too repetitive/too much of the same back and forth and I didn’t enjoy it.

“Lottie, I love you and I will always choose you, because while what I do will always be important to me, who I share it with is infinitely more important.”

first and foremost, majority of sports romances i’ve read so far are 20% sport, 80% romance. now this, THIS, was 50% sport, 50% romance and i ate it up!! i loved seeing the sport side of our MMC, Nolan - quarter back of the Chicago Bobcats, wanting to win one last super bowl before retirement due to an injury. like guys, i feel like i actually felt like i learnt something about sport??

“If you’d been alive during the time of the Romans, your beauty would have been immortalised in stone.”

once this mans guard came down, DAMN. this man went from being the most uptight, guarded, grouchy man to the biggest teddy bear who had fallen so hard for our FMC, Lottie.

“I wonder if I’ve missed out on life and it’s too late. Sometimes I feel like I focused too much on a career that will never matter when it comes to the end of my life, and I haven’t invested any time into making moments that I’ll look back on to prove that I really lived.”

okay but the relation to this quote right here ^ ^ A LOT. okay, now i know i’m only young but this is something i think about so much and it was honestly nice to see this portrayed and how it played out. Deciding she’s missed out on too much of life chasing her dream career, she makes a list of things she’d love to experience. now obviously Nolan helps cross off things on that list 🤭 i loved how driven Lottie was in her career, especially entering a male dominated field; my girl took no sh*t from no one. on a personal note, as a gal trying to get into a male dominated field, it was just so comforting and heartwarming to read 😭

unfortunately, we did have a third act breakup. i did see it coming, BUT, it was done in a mature way that actually made SENSE that i didn’t totally despise it. but it was still there. only reason it didn’t receive 5 stars for me!

lastly, thank you to both net galley and ally for the opportunity to read this arc! as always, i’m so forever grateful for every opportunity.

I love sports romances so I jumped at this book and it definitely didn’t disappoint it was one of the best sports romance l've read in a long time!
For me, a sports romance needs to have sports actually in it, not just have the main character play.

ARC Review of Going for Two by @allywiegandauthor

I must have a thing for reading book 2 in a series before the 1st book but that's ok.

Going for Two” by Ally Wiegand is a captivating novel that delves into the world of professional football, focusing on the journey of a young quarterback striving for success both on and off the field. The author skillfully weaves together themes of perseverance, ambition, and the challenges of balancing personal relationships with the demands of a high-pressure career in the NFL. The book not only provides a detailed look into the intense world of professional sports but also offers a deep exploration of the protagonist’s internal struggles and growth throughout his career. Wiegand’s writing style is engaging, drawing readers into the emotional rollercoaster of the main character as he navigates the complexities of fame, relationships, and the pursuit of his dreams. Overall, “Going for Two” is a compelling read that will appeal to both sports enthusiasts and those interested in character-driven narratives. Ally Wiegand’s storytelling prowess shines through in this novel, making it a must-read for anyone looking for a blend of sports drama and personal development.

3.5 stars

Another amazing sports romance from Ally Wiegand. For the girls who like spicy reads, this is not the series for you. But if you're in love with serious tension, then please pick this up because the tension between the two main characters in this book was incredible! Nolan and Lottie began the story definitely in a bit of a complicated situation, given Nolan absolutely refused to let Lottie do her job. But over time, she slowly tore down his walls and the friendship and trust that built between them felt so authentic. The romance didn't start immediately, although they did have a couple of 'slips' that would make you think the romance was starting before it did. I absolutely loved these little slips because it only further enhanced the tension between them as they kept trying to shut down their growing feelings for each other. As individuals, these two had a lot of insecurity that was affecting their relationship, and I did enjoy exploring Lottie's history with her family and Nolan's hesitance around his career ending. I think these two aspects of the story got a lot more focus than I personally would have preferred though, which meant that in the third act breakup when they started to really focus on themselves, my intrigue waned a bit and I started skimming whole paragraphs. I don't think the detail spent on those more emotional aspects was a bad thing, it just wasn't my preference and it slowed down the pace of the story during a really high-tension third-act breakup. But the ending of this story was so incredibly sweet, and I loved that they both got what they wanted in the end. The last things I want to mention are the family and the commentary around being a woman in sports. I reckon the latter could have been delved into a little bit more, because I really did appreciate the conversation being started and I think it could have been interesting to have more than a few comments around it scattered here and there. As for the family, particularly Olivia, I'm praying that her and Derek are the focus of the next book because I think the romance teased between the two of them would be absolutely addictive and so much fun!
