I originally found this because she is lynn painters sister but loved this story it was something you didnt get in romance books before. I for one was curious as to where the story was going to go.

I enjoyed the book overall. I liked the banter and it had some funny moments. I didn't understand at the beginning why the psychic said she would need to make an altruistic decision to return, since the whole reason she ended up at the psychic had nothing to do with mistakes she made. She was also not written as selfish, so I found myself confused by this aspect while reading the entire book. I do agree with another review some parts do transition too fast, and would have loved more detail. I loved the family dynamics. I'll say 3 stars

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC of this story, this is my objective review. Madison is a rich New York socialite who helps run the PR side of her family's chain of hotels. After a messy break-up with her jerk boyfriend, she impulsively goes to a psychic wanting a new life. Be careful what you wish for! On the directions of the mysterious psychic and in order to get her old life back, she goes to Montana to reconcile with her estranged father, who's getting remarried. There she meets Jax, the handsome adopted son of her new stepmother. Predictably, sparks fly in their short time together and Madison starts to reconsider how she wants the rest of her life to look. Be warned, the suspension of disbelief is very necessary here for optimal enjoyment. It's the kind of story where the nonsensical makes sense to the main characters and the reader absolutely shouldn't ask too many questions. (If you're looking for realism, this ain't it.) This book is perfect if you're looking for a quick and light read with touches of humor. The writing style is straightforward and a bit over-the-top at times. Personally I found it a bit difficult to connect with either character, both of them seemed a bit shallow and judgmental in the beginning. The story was cute enough but throughout the book they both seemed fairly immature for adults who are supposed to be almost 30 years old, especially since Jax was qualified by the state to be a foster parent (also, in this day and age I was surprised by the unprotected sex after zero discussion both pre- and post-sex about birth control or STDs). Speaking of foster parenting, Grant was sweet and an enjoyable addition to the plot. This wasn't quite the book for me as I couldn't stop questioning some of the plot devices (and I had a little difficulty with Jax's slightly aggressive sexuality, not to mention Grant's easy acceptance of his changing foster situations) but overall it was entertaining. This is the perfect book if you're looking for an opposites-attract, insta-lust/insta-love, open door romance, low-risk love story with an HEA. Published 9-17-24.

The book combines humor with a heartfelt exploration of second chances and personal growth, offering readers a mix of witty banter, romantic tension, and a bit of magical realism. It's especially appealing for those who enjoy fish-out-of-water stories and protagonists finding their way outside of their comfort zones

This was a super cute rom-com with forced proximity and found family, and I absolutely love that it included foster families and adoption. Madison and Jax are so funny and their chemistry is amazing. The plot was interesting and I liked the mystery aspect of it too. I highly recommend this book for any small town rom-com enjoyer with a city girl fmc and a small town mmc, with found family!

I was pleasantly surprised by The Other Fork in the Road. While the riches to rags premise has been done ad nauseum, Painter had a fresh take it. I would continue to read more of her books.

I loved this book! It’s more than just romance, there’s a little mystery in it as well, it made the book so much better. The female main character visits a psychic and drinks the tea the psychic gave her. She wakes up as no longer a New York socialite and a dump of an apartment. She goes back to the psychic and the psychic tells her that the universe is giving her chance to find out who she really is. Such a good book!

Unfortunately DNF on this one. Me and this story didn't clicked at all. I struggled a lot with this book.... Can't give a full review because I only read 20% of this one and just couldn't continue with it....

Madison Clark's boyfriend humiliates her at his surprise party. She visits a psychic and wakes up the next morning in a shabby apartment, without money or luxury clothes. To reclaim her affluent lifestyle, she must reconcile with her estranged father. Thus, she heads to Montana to meet her father and attend his wedding. Jax, the adopted son of the bride-to-be, picks Madison up from the airport, expecting a debutante but is met with a surprise. As Madison gets to know Jax and spends time with her father on the ranch, she begins to notice changes in her life.

This book was amazing! The romance and banter was so entertaining and this book was so funny. And it was very well written!

. The storyline was great. The book itself was juvenile. The characters acted like teens instead of mid- late twenties there were some funny parts. Madison, the stuck up heiress could laugh at herself and Jax was caring enough to become a foster parent. I just couldn’t get invested, thank you to NetGalley for this free advanced copy, I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Rounded to four stars for NetGalley and Goodreads.
First and foremost, I’d like to thank the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.
As a debut novel, this story is quite good, and the premise immediately caught my attention! The plot is highly original—I've never read a novel where the FMC goes through what this character experiences at the beginning. It’s a unique hook that drew me in.
That said, there were a few elements that didn’t quite work for me. (This is all subjective, of course.) I felt there were too many 'humorous' asides during the FMC's POV, which sometimes disrupted the flow and made it difficult for me to fully connect with her. I ended up not liking the FMC as much as I had hoped to.
On the other hand, I liked the MMC and the action-packed narrative the author crafted. There was never a dull moment, which I truly appreciated!
While the book wasn’t entirely my cup of tea, I still believe it’s a truly good debut and, in many ways, a refreshing read. I’m excited to see where this author goes from here!

The blurb for The Other Fork in the Road caught my attention, but the book itself felt undercooked and rushed. It didn’t hold my attention much and I felt like I had to take lots of breaks in between. There were lots of cute moments between the main characters though!

💫 Very 2000s-romcom-movie kinda read, I loved it! It's a fast-burn romance with a lot of cute banter and slapstick humor -- it's hard to make the latter work in a book, but this book had scenes that were so well-written, I was literally laughing out loud at some of them
💫 I really enjoyed the found family moments 💜 every scene with Grant was so beautiful
💫 Do I sense a book 2 in this series with Zoey and Austin? ...
-- ty to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy!

This was a fantastic debut with a great plot. I enjoyed the beginning a lot - it hooks you and has the magical element thrown in pretty early. I was a bit surprised the main character adapted to not having money so well (I would have enjoyed more about this as she adapted to the "poor" life easily). The romance was cute and I enjoyed the dual POV and the sweet family characters that were along for the story.

I thought I would like this as the idea was intriguing.
Unfortunately it didn't hold me at all.
I didn't like the characters and felt the interactions were a bit false.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley

Unfortunately, I had to DNF this book right at the beginning.
I don't feel comfortable reading love stories of people so close to family like that. I mean, I get it that Jax was adopted by Madison's step mom, but either way...Not my taste.
However, the writing style was very easy to get through.

In The Other Fork in the Road, New York socialite Madison Clark’s life is flipped upside down after a disastrous public humiliation and a magical tea plunge her into a life of poverty in Montana. With a maxed-out credit card and a zero balance, Madison must navigate her new reality, mend family ties, and survive in a world far removed from her glamorous past. The book is a wonderful blend of humor and heart, capturing Madison’s transformation with charm and wit. I enjoyed reading it because the quirky premise and witty dialogue kept me laughing and rooting for Madison’s journey of self-discovery.

It seems that magical realism as a trope is gaining popularity in romcoms because this book is a clear representative of it. All it takes for happiness (or unhappiness) is a magic tea and voila - Madison woke up in an alternate reality that pokes the protagonist in the face with the truth - there are some things it's best not to get involved in.
It was fun reading, but not riveting. As an author debut it was nice job, well done 👍
