Definitely one of Agatha Christie’s novels- tense and leaving you thinking you know who the killer is. Unfortunately we never know! Was annoyed to not find out!

Whilst I've always been aware of Agatha Christie it's only recently I've started reading through her books. I really enjoyed this read and felt it was a great length. She certainly had me fooled and I didn't realise who the murderer was until the last chapter.

And Then There Were None is set on a wild, remote island off the coast of Devon in which ten strangers are left stranded. Members of the group are being murdered in grizzly ways following a sinister nursery rhyme and the culprit can only be one of the people on the island. This is one of the original 'locked room' mysteries and is certainly the best in my opinion.

Agatha Christie has an incredible way of crafting developed characters, vivid settings and intricate plot twists within such a short book. I particularly love in this book that the nursery rhyme provides a sense of foreshadowing but the book never becomes predictable and I read it in one sitting. The locked room trope is one of my favourites and I love that you have no idea who to trust or who to believe. I've read many other books inspired by And Then There Were None however none of them match up to the original.

As one of Christie's standalones and the book voted her best, I would say this book would be a great introduction to her work and would recommend this to anyone. This is my favourite book of all time and one I have reread on many occassions.

What a hugely fun edition of one of Agatha Christie's best novels. I can only imagine the delight at reading this story for the first time and having the time to think through who must have been the killer. It's a stand alone novel, no Poirot or Marple, but the story is so good, you really don't miss them!

People from all walks of life are invited to holiday on an island off the Devonshire coast. The same child's rhyme is framed in each room: a rhyme where one person is lost at the end of each verse, but always in a different way. And then the first person on the island dies, swiftly followed by a second: each, in line with the rhyme. What a terrifying place the island must now be......

This was done so cleverly. I loved the incorporation of the soldier rhyme and how it tied in with the mystery and suspense.
Every twist and turn kept me on the edge of my seat, each chapter escalating the tension. I genuinely had no idea who was responsible for the murders until the big reveal.
As a short read this was super easy to read and showcases why Christie is one of the greatest mystery writers of all time. A really wonderful read for October.

Plot
Set on a remote island, ten strangers are invited under mysterious circumstances. Soon, they find themselves accused of past crimes and begin to die one by one, in accordance with a nursery rhyme.

Thankyou to Harper Collins for an e-copy of the Ultimate Mystery Edition

Wow! I just loved that the mystery was wrapped up. I find myself frustrated, sometimes, when left with multiple questions.
The ending of having to, in my case, download the final chapter to find out exactly who the murderer was an excellent added feature. I'm disappointed to say that I was wrong!

I was lucky enough to receive an electronic advanced copy of the new edition of this book and really enjoyed the originality of having the ending of the book kept a secret until you had chosen who you thought the killer was.

The story is about 10 strangers who all get invited to the renowned Soldier Island following receipt of mysterious invitations. One by one deaths start occurring on the island and they all seem to match the telling of a nursery rhyme.

I enjoyed the book and it kept me guessing throughout as I didn’t work out who the killer was.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins for the advance copy

How can you review Agatha Christie after all this time? Nothing new can be said beyond her books - including this one - being bestsellers for a reason. Love the new concept for this in hardback with the envelope at the back. Looking forward to seeing what this looks like.

This is one of my favourite books of all time. Such a clever concept and proves just how dark and sinister Christie can be. It was a joy to reread

This new edition looks beautiful and the concept of the letter at the end is a great gimmick. It's gimmicky but fun and a clever tie in with the story events.

This is a great gift idea for the criminally minded in your circle of friends or family!

Agatha Christie one of the greatest mystery writer . I loved the book . I was happy to have guessed right the murder.
It was complicated murder mystery set on Soldier Island. Ten guests are invited all of them have something they are trying to escape and they all take the opportunity they are provided with . One after another all are murdered.
There is a mystery of who murdered all of them and did they set everything back in certain order and left the island ? Did they escape ? But how did they do that ? There is a last concealed chapter that leads to the answer.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for the opportunity to read the book . Would love to read more such books and dive into Agatha Christie’s world .

A well plotted crime, fully rounded characters with succinct back stories and their crimes. Thoroughly absorbing. Got to the end and then found myself looking back again at some of the characters trying to find the clues to let me know who was responsible. Very cleverly done.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Agatha Christie/HarperCollins UK for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read and loved getting the final chapter later. I had no idea who it was - kept jumping between them all and then realised it couldn't be them. Never realised how clever someone could be. Great twist...

In Christie's 'And Then There Were None' 10 people are lured to an island off the coast of Devon. They have all committed a crime but have not faced justice. One by one they are killed. Who is the killer? Christie's brilliant plot guards the identity of the killer and in this edition the reader is invited to guess who it is before the ending is revealed,
The plot and island setting has several modern imitators but no-one does it quite like Chistie - the Queen of Crime.
A masterpiece.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

And Then There Were None is widely regarded as one of Agatha Christie’s finest works, and it’s not hard to see why. The story is a masterclass in suspense and tension, bringing together ten strangers who are gradually picked off in accordance with a sinister nursery rhyme. With each murder, the noose tightens as paranoia sets in, and everyone starts to suspect one another.

One of the novel's great strengths is how Christie manages to give each of the characters enough depth and distinct traits that they stand out, despite the fact that they’re all doomed from the start. Each is guilty of a crime, whether through malice, negligence, or circumstance, and the island becomes a place where justice is served—though not in any form they could have imagined. The isolated setting creates an eerie atmosphere, amplifying the sense of entrapment as the characters' numbers dwindle.

What makes And Then There Were None so brilliant is how Christie plays with the reader’s expectations. The pace of the killings, the growing paranoia, and the way in which she drops clues and red herrings ensure that you’re constantly trying to solve the puzzle, second-guessing yourself until the final shocking twist. Even those familiar with the conventions of the mystery genre may find themselves surprised by the end.

The nursery rhyme motif that runs throughout the novel is a stroke of genius, adding a darkly playful tone to the unfolding horror. Every death mirrors the verses in the rhyme, creating a grim sense of inevitability that keeps you turning the pages. The methodical nature of the murders and the underlying question of whether there’s any justice being served make this much more than a simple whodunnit—it’s a haunting exploration of guilt, accountability, and fate. The fact that we're left unsure of some people's guilt or innocence adds an uneasy layer to the story. Christie's writing style is notably direct and to the point, eschewing the in-depth character development and world-building often found in modern fiction.

This particular edition, with its sealed letter revealing the solution only after the reader finishes, adds an interactive element, making the experience feel almost like a puzzle that you’re invited to solve alongside the characters. Even if you’ve read the story before, this version adds a fresh layer of fun.

For recommendations:

Book: The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides – For its psychological tension and masterfully built suspense with a surprising twist.
Movie: Clue (1985) – For a murder mystery with a twist of dark comedy and an isolated setting where the cast is whittled down one by one.

This is an original and old-fashioned Agatha Christie book, and the twist is that you don't find out who did it until you have made a guess as to the identity of the murderer.
I have never worked out the villain in an Agatha Christie book yet, but a fun concept for readers who might enjoy this concept.

Agatha Christie at her best!
A gripping, complicated murder mystery set on Soldier Island. Ten guests invited who have played some part in a murder in the past. One by one they are all murdered.
To find out the identity of the murderer, there is a sealed envelope in the back of the book with the final chapter. Will you guess right?
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for an ARC.
