And Then There We’re None is the first Agatha Christie book I’ve read but it won’t be the last! I found the mystery very exciting reading with a variety of fascinating characters as suspects.
I would love another opportunity to read a mystery novel this way.

This unbelievable book needs no introduction in the book community.

This Ultimate Mystery Edition - which is out now - withheld the final chapter and big reveal to test my detective skills. So brilliant is Agatha Christie’s plot - I had to wait to find out how everything came together.

It is very easy to see why this book is the biggest selling mystery novel of all time.

I received this novel in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

It's unquestionable just how impressive this novel is. Surely the inspiration for various horror tomes. Christie has a useful foreword where she explains that this novel was tricky to construct, not least because the story is amazingly taut.

10 people end up on an island, it's a British island and a storm's a-coming. Each person has received correspondence from a different person, More or less once they're all acquianted, suddenly a special record is played releasing all of the guests' secrets.

From there, the 10 little solidiers on the table decrease in quantity as one by one the guests come to sticky ends.

But who is the murderer? Who did it? Net Galley has rather intelligently offered a version with a QR code, forcing you not to cheat and work out who did it... before there was none.

A wonderful read and essential for Christie-ists. Her writing is still light and lovely. Shrewd and conversational.

Take this charming paragraph:

Tea! Bless ordinary everyday afternoon tea! Philip Lombard made a cheer remark. Blore responded. Dr Armstrong told a humorous story. Mr Justice Wargrave, who ordinarily hated tea, sipped approvingly.

Such writing can be a soothing balm as you prepare for murder afoot. And this one is infamous for many deaths...

One little soldier boy left all alone ... and then there were none.

My love for whodunnits continues.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is the original whodunnit. Ten strangers all invited to Soldier Island owned by an eccentric millionaire. Not knowing who their host is or why they have all been gathered on a remote island, they are all wary of each other - and for good reason. Each one of them is hiding something horrible in their past. But when they start dying, one by one, and each murder is eerily similar to a childrens nursery rhyme framed in all of their rooms, they must find who the killer is, before there is no one left.

And Then There Were None is a story that has interested me for years, and honestly I wasn't let down. Christie's ability to weave a tale that keeps you guessing and second guessing is something that is truly remarkable. At first I was a little bit worried about the fact that each murder is essentially liad out for you well before the first murder is even commited might have made it seem more obvious, but with every murder I found myself wondering how it was going to be twisted. Far from making it seem boring, it made me want to know more, see how the nursery rhyme was going to influence the next murder. The idea of it being based on a nursery rhyme itself I thought was fantastic in itself. Whilst it is a little macabre for a nursery rhyme, it adds a extra layer knowing it is the inspiration for the murders.

Another thing that I was nervous about as I started reading was the number of characters being introduced. I can get a little overwhelemed when there are too many characters and find I can't really connect with any of them, however once they were all together and introduced to one another, it became a lot easier to understand the characters and who they were. Watching each of them change the further into the mystery we got was really interesting to me. The slow decent iinto madness for each of them was so fascinating to read, and it had me second guess who I thought the killer was more than once.

The only thing that I wasn't altogether keen on was how the writing felt like statements rather than story telling at some points. There were times where it was very. This happened and so they did this. And then this is a conversation that happened. This made it harder for me to get into it. There were minimal descriptions, whether it was of the characetrs or the scenery, it felt almost as though there was no emotion behind it, and as smeone who likes to imagine what the characters look like, and like to feel the emotion through the page, it made me struggle to get into it.

I really enjoyed the way you find out who the killer was. As the murders tended to happen off page, the confession at the end as to why and how was easily my favourite bit. It made me rethink bits of the story and see them in a new light, which is something that all good whodunnits should do.

In general I really enjoyed this book, more than I thought I would originally. The only thing that would have made it better for me would have been if there had been more around what was happening. A little more description, a little more into what the characters are thinking, but other than that it was a perfect whodunnit.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Oh, what a deliciously twisted little masterpiece And Then There Were None is! Agatha Christie whisks you away to a bleak island off the Devon coast, where ten strangers gather, blissfully unaware they’re about to face an increasingly creative array of grisly exits. It's part murder mystery, part psychological thriller, and 100% British drama at its finest.

From the moment the ominous nursery rhyme is introduced, you know you’re in for something wickedly clever. Christie introduces each character, hands them a steaming pile of guilt to chew on, and then picks them off one by one in a way that’s darkly poetic!

And that ending—what an absolute stunner. Just when you think you’ve outsmarted Christie (good luck with that), she pulls the rug from under you in the most brilliantly exasperating way. It’s the kind of twist that makes you want to go back to page one and read it all over, just to marvel at her handiwork.

If you love a classic whodunit with psychological depth and a dash of British flair, this is the book. Just remember: should you ever get an invitation to a remote island with questionable company and a suspicious nursery rhyme—politely decline!

I already love Agatha Christie's. All of them, actually. And this book has nothing wrong in my eyes. I'm sorry I'm so biased but it's just good for me 😭❤️

A new reissue of a classic crime novel, few have done it better than Christie and her impossible mystery on Soldier Island. To say more would detract from the mystery's power and presence, but this is essential reading for any armchair sleuth.

I don't know why it took me so long to read an Agatha Christie book. I always loved the adaptations, but I've never picked up a book version. I'm so glad I finally gave one a go! This was such a clever murder mystery, and I was stumped all the way through. 10 characters, all with secrets to hide. It really could have been anyone bumping them off one by one!

I am a huge fan of claustrophobic settings, and it doesn't get much better than being trapped in a house with a killer on an isolated island. I loved how the characters were introduced one by one, and we got to see what had convinced each of them to visit the large house. This really added to the intrigue and made it more difficult to figure out what was going on.

Christie is great at building atmosphere and tension into her stories. The use of the poem to predict each murder was also highly entertaining.

I loved everything about this and wouldn't change a single thing. The writing flowed, it was fast-paced and the murders were very inventive... perfect!

With thanks to Netgalley for providing a copy of the book. This is my honest review, which I'm leaving voluntarily.

One of the classic all time murder mysteries! If you think you can guess the murderer before the end I would eat my hat.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, Harper Fiction for the ARC

An ageless classic by the crime-queen herself. And Then There Were None is a magnificent mystery book where group of people isolated on an island gets picked out one by one. Although short, the book holds a lot of twists and makes your head spin with theories. A throughly enjoyable read where you never know who the culprit is, but have a fantastic time trying to figure it out!

Agatha Christie is known as the Queen of Crime for a very good reason. Although this book was released decades ago originally, it certainly stands the test of time.

10 people who have never met before all receive invitations to meet on a private island. Gradually, each one is killed in line with a rhyme that is left on the dining table. The question is, if the police subsequently find 10 bodies, just who is responsible and why. Brilliant whodunnit.

A huge thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for giving me he chance to read "And Then There Were None- The Ultimate Mystery Edition" by Agatha Christie in exchange for my honest review.

Agatha Christie is the ultimate author of murder mysteries ! To me she is the one who gave birth to the term "whodunnit" and her writing is timeless and addicting.
Having read so few of her works in the past of course I jumped at the oppurtunity to read one of her most famed books (if not THE most famed one), especially since I was intrigued by how the special edition contains the solution to the mystery in an envelope in the hardback copy that is to be published soon. That meant that somehow the solution would have to reach me through mail and when I tell you I read the book in a flash, it's an UNDERSTATEMENT.
I read the book so fast, almost like my mind and my whole being was on fire since I knew the ending was missing ,and that had never happened to me before and so it had me reading the book in a couple of hours, just to get my hands on the solution.
Until I could vote on who I thought had done the Soldier Island murders and get my hands on the final chapter, I kept having so many thoughts and was trying so hard to find the killer, I even ranted for a whole twenty minutes to my brother (who was minding his own business but was a fool to ask "Why are you screaming at pillows ?Is that book really that good ?") and IT WAS INDEED THAT GOOD !!! and I ended up telling him all about it and him making his own assumptions on the plot and then he kept telling me "I WANT TO KNOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN READ FASTER !!" and I was SO INVESTED and SO SURE i knew who the killer was AND YET AGAIN AGATHA CHRISTIE OUTDID HERSELF AND PROVED ME A FOOL FOR EVER THINKING I COULD GUESS CORRECTLY !

If you love Agatha's works ,and if you love a good old murder mystery ,that is full of suspense, intrigue ,plot twists at every turn, then do not hesitate to get your hands on a copy of this book !!!

Having never read Agatha Christie, I was quite excited when I had the email come through from NetGalley to read this and to not have the last chapters until I had guessed who I thought had done it.
Ten people are invited to Soldier Island off the coast of Devon. Eight very different people from different backgrounds, all of whom are hiding a secret. They have all been invited by their host, but all of them have either never met their host or can’t remember meeting their host. When they arrive on the island, they are met by Mr ans Mrs Rogers, who have been employed to run the household and have received word that their hosts have been waylaid. Soon after they hear a ghostly voice accusing them all of murder, but murders that couldn’t stand up in a court of law. One by one, the people on the island start to die, and it soon becomes obvious that there is a murderer on the island and it’s a race against time to find who that person is.
I didn’t guess who the murderer was, and I suspected every single person at some point whilst reading the book. A thoroughly enjoyable read, and one tbat means I would definitely pick up an Agatha Christie in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and HarperFiction for allowing me to read this mystery, and for making sure that I couldn’t skip to the end to find out who the killer was!

This was my first Agatha Christie and I truly had a great time reading, I can understand why this is such a beloved classic.
I truly thought I was correct the entire way through the book however there were so many twists and stories within that I definitely did not win this one.

I love Agatha Christie. I read her books sparingly, because despite there being so many, I can’t quite bear the thought of having gone through them all - so opening a new one is always a treat.

I know that this is one of her best. I know of the history, the original (awkward) title and the challenge that she presented to herself with this tale. So, like ‘Murder on the Orient Express’, I wasn’t surprised to zip through this in one sitting.

The fun here is that I was sent the book by the publisher… but with the last chapter missing. Which, if you are familiar, is the conclusion that reveals exactly what’s been going on. Without that epilogue: everybody’s dead. The killer isn’t found. Police are baffled. Author wins!

The week before publication of this special edition (in which that final chapter is tucked into the rear of the volume in a sealed envelope!), I finally got an email with a link to read the final piece of the puzzle for myself. But first, I had to participate in a poll to see if I guessed the killer correctly.

Reader, I did not. But I absolutely adored all these games, making me part of the mystery itself! To coin a very modern term, this seemed a beautifully ‘meta’ approach to a classic novel, and I do hope Ms Christie would approve (and perhaps laugh at our expense).

This mystery deserves its praise. It is so very clever, but without overstaying its welcome or over-confidently showing its hand. There’s no hints; if anything, I did get the impression that the author was going out of her way to wrong-foot the reader by omitting key details that would’ve pointed us in the right direction.

I was worried that I’d get the characters confused, as they’re all introduced in quick succession and aren’t terribly relatable - in that they reminded me of any group of teenagers in a modern horror movie, who are just there to be picked off! In fact, I soon saw the tendrils of this tale reaching down the years to genre-spanning modern movies, from ‘Glass Onion’ to ‘Saw’ (say what you like, it’s a perfect modern whodunnit that owes a lot to books like this).

The Ten all have clear motivations and histories, some more likeable than others, which meant that every chapter (and every ‘soldier’ taken off the board) meant that my theories could change from moment to moment.

My only quibble was the occasional internal monologue, one of which seemed to go against the final reveal. But the journey was so much fun, it wasn’t really a problem.

Yes, it’s a recommend. If you enjoy a good game of ‘Cluedo’, you have this book to thank - and this publisher for reissuing it in such a way that we can enjoy taking part without any of the potential for an unpleasant demise!

This latest edition of the Agatha Christie classic allows for the reader to offer their suggestion of who the protagonist / killer(s) might be before access is granted to the final chapter...I think I guessed right - but there have been variations for stage and screen so anything is possible eh?

It's a long time since I've read a Christie, like most of my generation that was a pleasure from my teens/early twenties, ahead of Suchet's classic Poirrot, but after Rutherford's Marple...I struggled at times with the style (too much he said/she said) and the plot flaws that saw the characters being far too genteel, stereotypical and formal given what was going on around them...BUT I enjoyed the stupid absurdity of the tale (which I'd have read way back when as an old imprint possibly using the now unacceptable title Dame Agatha graced the original with).

I'll not be clamouring to re-read the entire collection - my tastes have matured over time - but it's been a fun way to wile away some Autumnal hours.

This was so good... I have never read this book before so that was an absolute delight in itself, but the new Ultimate Mystery Edition is somehow even more fantastic as it was so immersive and really had me guessing along with the characters! Of course I was wrong! I loved the foreword from Christie as well about how difficult it was to put together, it has hugely paid off and I can see why this book has sold so many copies and it is truly deserved. This book really is the blueprint for all mystery/ thriller novels everywhere and I'm not sure any of them will ever match up now I've read this. Thanks so much Netgalley and Harper Collins for letting me review this!!

This is my first Agatha Christie novel and I loved it! This is the story of 10 people taken to an island and a series of murders occur, the real question remains, who is the murderer? I did not guess the murderer, but loved the way it was revealed at the end and so elegantly explained. The story is very well written and I loved the pacing of it all. It felt believable and really drew me in, questioning everything along the way. I hope to read more Agatha Christie novels soon as this was a fantastic read
