And Then There Were None has always been my favourite novel from Agatha Christie even before the title was changed to be more politically correct so I knew the identity of the murderer prior to reading this edition but for the first time I read this story solely looking for the clues to their identity which I’ve always missed before and yes, they are definitely there if you have an eye for detail. The actual writing has withstood the test of time despite being written pre-WWII and there were only a couple of instances where the language used wouldn’t be appropriate in a modern day setting but only because they’re now used as slang for something different to what the author meant. Aside from this, the only thing that would date it was the deference shown between classes, with the working-class former policeman calling his so-called betters in the middle-class ‘Sir’ every time he spoke to them.

The overall flow of the story was steady and fast paced and the plot itself ingenious and intricate proving why now, nearly fifty years after her death Dame Agatha Christie still reigns supreme as the true Queen of crime fiction as ten strangers with supposedly nothing in common are brought together on a remote island only to be accused by their mysterious host of having gotten away with murder. With no way of escape, one by one the alleged killers meet their ends with each death corresponding to the lyrics of a children’s rhyme until there was no one left alive on the island. If you haven’t read this book, I recommend you do. With all it’s twists and turns and red herrings it’s the perfect epitome of the classic whodunnit. If you don’t believe me, then how about the multitude of readers who with over 100 million copies sold worldwide, have made this particular book the best-selling mystery of all time.

First, there were ten - a curious assortment of strangers summoned as weekend guests to a little private island off the coast of Devon. Their host, an eccentric millionaire unknown to all of them, is nowhere to be found. All the guests have in common is a wicked past they're unwilling to reveal - and a secret that will seal their fate. For each one has been marked for murder. A famous nursery rhyme is found hung in every room.

This is my favourite Agatha Christie book. When I saw that Harper Collins has it up for request on NetGalley, I had to get myself a copy. I have rad this book numerous times over the years.

Eight strangers have been invited to secluded Soldier Island off the Devon Coast by Mr. & Mrs U.N. Owen. They think they've been invited for a specific reason. The guests were met by Mr. & Mrs' Rogers, the butler, and housekeeper. They had also been invited to work for this event. Before the night is over - one of them is dead.

No matter how many times I've read this book, or seen the film, it never gets stale. It was very cleverly crafted.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #HarperCollinsUK #HarperFiction and the author #AgathaChristie for my ARC of #AndThenThereWereNone in exchange for an honest review.

Ten strangers, seemingly unconnected except that each one of them is accused of having committed a murder, are lured to a mansion on an isolated island near the Devon coast. Cut off from the mainland, with their hosts mysteriously absent, soon they start dying one by one. It is not long before the guests realise they may be harbouring a murderer among their number but who could it be and can they stop them before it’s too late?!

This was my first Agatha Christie novel and I really enjoyed it. It is very cleverly woven, easy to read and the ending is very satisfying. I kept guessing as the story went on and I loved reading the “solution” to the whodunit. Extremely superbly crafted!

And with a new hardback collector’s edition, solving the world's most puzzling mystery novel just got even more fiendish – with the final solution sealed in an envelope at the back of the book!

As always the author writes a mystery leaving the reader guessing right to the last page. I have enjoyed reading Agatha Christie books and watching the movies/series for many years and always return to them. I can always reread a book by this author. Brilliantly plotted and the characters are vividly brought to life.

'Ten people had to die...It was clear, straightforward, baffling, and yet had a perfectly reasonable explanation'.

From page one, we are introduced to a seemingly disparate cast of characters who've all been invited to an island, for a short summer holiday, off the coast of Devon. Although each invite is somewhat vague, all of them are happy to be ferried across to the small, and isolated, Soldier Island - only to be told that their host has been detained. Odd, but nothing a pre-dinner drink won't fix. All is going swimmingly until a recorded voice booms across the room claiming each of the ten tenants is directly responsible for someone's death. As questions begin to be asked, the first death occurs. As the wind whips up, cutting them off, paranoia is palpable, 'Thoughts that ran around in a circle like squirrels in a cage..what next? What next? Who? Which?'. When and how will it all end?

It's been a long while since I've read an Agatha Christie murder mystery and I'm so glad I did. Not only is the plot clever and well thought out, I just love being transported back to another era too. Pick it up. You'll be pleased you did.

'They're going mad...They'll all go mad...Afraid of death...we're all afraid of death...I'm afraid of death...Yes, but that doesn't stop death coming...'.

I was so blessed to receive an electronic copy of this new release edition. The final chapter is sealed so you have to try and solve the clues to find out whodunit.

I love to try and solve the mystery before I reach the end of a book but this one was so cleverly plotted I didn't get it right. Agatha Christie is the Queen of crime and this is an absolute masterpiece.

Thank you Harper Fiction and Netgalley for providing the ARC

There is a very good reason why Agatha Christie is so frequently referred to as the Queen of Crime, and "And Then There Were None" is the perfect example.
The premise of this timeless novel has been used so many times - the isolated location, the separated guests (or victims to be accurate), the secrets and the series of murders.
From the opening paragraph, Christie has brilliantly set the scene and as we follow a series of murders to and unbelievable conclusion.
It's so wonder, that even after 50 years, this book remains a blueprint for crime writing. And this latest edition adds to the mystery with a QR code (digital edition) or letter (physical edition), contains the final solution.

I’m fairly new to reading Agatha Christie, I’m obsessed with crime novels but was always really hesitant to read Agatha Christie. This novel has made me a Christie fan, I really enjoyed how the book is set out and how the characters developed. I really liked that you had to use the clues to crack the case and the answer is sealed in an envelope at the end, so no spoilers. I totally got it wrong, but I loved that I did as it made me go back over and look at where I had gone wrong.

This is my first Agatha Christie book and no wonder she is such an influential author. I was completely stumped. I love the quirk of sealing/ not including the last chapter revealing the killer, it was so much fun. I devoured this book in a day, loved it.

I've lost count of how many times I have read this mystery thriller. It never loses its charm and, indeed, one can never tire of reading and re-reading the entire works of the Queen of Crime.
To say the plot and the novel's structure is innovative is truly an understatement. I always thought that Dame Agatha would have to break the rules of The Detection Club to pull off the denouement - but that was before I read it for the very first time. There's no cheating here. Just sheer literary brilliance.
This splendid new hardback edition is sumptuously beautiful and is an essential addition to everyone's Agatha Christie collection.

Always a pleasure to read an Agatha Christie book and this one is her most famous one. I loved finding all the clues and discovering the culprit. A timeless classic. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Sorry but I think I'm an outlier here. 2.5 stars rounded up.

While I appreciate the clever plot and what Christie has done for the genre, this book unfortunately wasn't for me. The characters all kind of blended into one and I wasn't emotionally connected to the story. Every death felt like it was written as "they walked into the room and someone was dead" and quickly moved on. I wasn't as gripped as I was hoping I'd be.

I believe the print version has the final chapter in an envelope which should only be opened once you have made your guess as to who the killer is. This doesn't work quite as well with an e-copy but it's a great idea and I loved it.

I definitely don't think this is a bad book, it's just not for me.

Loved reading this book, was a little difficult trying to remember who was who at the beginning of the book, but got easier! I absolutely love the fact that you had to guess who you thought was the murderer before you got the last chapter explaining it all and how it was done! Not an author I would usually read but must say I thoroughly enjoyed it!

A wonderful who done it with a twist you choose who you think did it and the final chapter is emailed to you.
Very clever and leaves you wondering what you missed.

Agatha will always be the queen of mysteries!!now I see writers name her as their inspiration when they first get published, everything we watch or read has her influence.

It’s the perfect whodunnit, 10 strangers trapped on an island who, one by one, are murdered. There is nobody else on the island, so the killer is one of them or is there another? The strangers have all gotten away with crime or actions so have they brought it on themselves?

This story has tension and suspense, it’s a great read!

Having first read this book about maybe 40 years ago I was surprised that when re -reading it again now, it still felt fresh and clever- and I still got the whodunnit wrong - no wonder Agatha Christie is considered the Queen of crime!
Locked room or isolated location books whilst always around, seem to have become very popular again recently, but Ms Christie certainly helped lead the way!
I particularly enjoyed this edition where a QR code is provided to download the final chapter and the answer
Thank you to netgalley and Harper Collins for an advance copy of this book

I don't feel 5* is enough for this masterpiece. This is a blueprint for how crime thrillers should be written.

It is the perfect whodunit. 10 strangers trapped on an island who, one by one, are murdered. There is nobody else on the island, so the killer must be amongst them. The strangers have all gotten away with crime or actions that the killer believes they need punishing for.

This story has tension, suspense, and fantastically written characters. Whoever says Agatha Christie writes cosy crime has never read this book. The final chapter is jaw dropping leaving you wanting to reread to see how you missed the clues.

More of a how they dunnit than who.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very interesting to read something that captured the attitudes of the time in what was a very class conscious bygone age. I tried hard to follow the evidence, even making a few notes. Each time I thought I'd spotted something that was a breakthrough clue to the murderer, that person was the next one to die, or else my suspect couldn't have been responsible.
The book has a rapid pace, with drama on almost every page. It took me longer to read than normally for something of this length because I frequently stopped to go back to previous pages to try to unravel the mystery at each new disclosure.
This new edition tells a tale where none of the cast is above suspicion and is a real gem. Don't miss it.

Called the greatest murder mystery written, this book does not disappoint. It is readable, believable and incredibly carefully put together. The decision to republish it with the final chapter missing is great, spoiled only by the presence of websites like Wikipedia which will give the game away. The solution once known is obvious, a person who has had a career in upholding and dispensing justice, but hindsight is a wonderful th8nk. In their opinion, all of the 10 deserved to face justice making this an exercise in vigilante killing.. read it! It’s great!

Earlier this year I saw the stage version of 'And Then There Were None' so it was a pleasure to read this 'Ultimate Mystery Addition '. I have been reading Agatha Christie books for 50 years now and never tire of them. The volume of sales of the Queen of Crimes books happens for a reason. Perhaps her best book with its clever plot and dramatic ending. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.
