Another great addition to the Lost Legacies series! This was a pretty fast read and I powered through it quickly. I once again, enjoyed all of the characters and fantasy elements. Highly recommend to all fantasy fans and lovers.

A Shift in fortune by Maddox Grey A Shift in Fortune is a light and entertaining fantasy novel suitable for teens soon adults. Although it is part of the series, I read it without having read the other books and it was relatively easy to pick up the storyline. The story follows a young girl named Bryn who discovers that she is a Valkyrie and requires training. The best person to train her is an older Valkyrie named Sigrun and trying to find and persuade her forms a part of the adventure of the book. There is a sweet love story between for Bryn and interesting cast of supporting characters including werewolves, vampires and fae.
The narration by Kris Janae is excellent and the characters are easy to differentiate.
This is a great audiobook to curl up with on a lazy Sunday and just sit back and enjoy.
3.5 stars

I'm afraid I was unable to finish this audiobook. Really, it was a combination of the narrator and the fact that I hadn't read the first few books, I think. I don't like leaving negative reviews, so I won't post this on other platforms. I don't feel the narrator did the story justice. Although pronunciation was clear, the tone of the reading was a little too monotone to keep my interest.

🎧 NetGalley Audiobook Review

A Shift in Fortune (Lost Legacies 3) by Maddox Grey
Narrated by Krys Janae

This third book in the Lost Legacies series sees a change of main character and point of view. Bryn was reborn as a valkyrie after her tragic death, and as she learned to adapt to this new way of life with little help, she found her way to the Lost Legacies crew - Nemain, Mikhail et al.

Continuing in a similar vein as the previous books, there is magic and plenty of banter, plus a little excitement. Krys Janae's narration brings life to Maddox Grey's characters, and I enjoyed the sapphic love interest, but I feel there could have been more oomph there; it just fell a little flat for me. Having said that, it's a good third instalment, and there's plenty to enjoy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks to Maddox Grey and Grey Malkin Press for providing an eARC via NetGalley; this is my honest review.

UNABLE TO GIVE FEEDBACK AS IT WAS DELETED FROM MY SHELF. (Therefore, I was unable to read it!)
And yes, it was definitely downloaded. And I just recently hit play TO MAKE SURE it was NOT deleted from my shelf.) But it is gone…. I’d be happy to leave a review if I still had access to the book…

I’m going to leave a star rating of 3, as I have NO CLUE what the rating would actually be… ??? …
But I am unable to proceed without a star rating….

Unfortunately I have not read the previous books in this series. I do think that impact my ability to relate to the characters. I do look forward to reading the previous novels.
I enjoyed this novel and the writing style. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the advanced audiobook of this book

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*A Shift in Fortune* by Maddox Grey is an exhilarating continuation of the series! Krys Janae's narration perfectly captures the intensity and vulnerability of the story, making it impossible to put down. The blend of action, magic, and deep character development kept me hooked from start to finish. This third installment does not disappoint!

I loved this book! Truly, even though they’re short, they’re written so well and I get sucked into the world almost immediately upon starting it. I can’t wait to continue reading!

In *A Shift in Fortune*, Maddox Grey expertly blends fantasy, mythology, and emotional depth. The protagonist, reborn as a valkyrie after a tragic death, must navigate her new life and magic without much guidance. Her journey to connect with Sigrun, a seasoned but reluctant valkyrie mentor, forms the heart of the story. What I really appreciated about this book is that it focused heavily on plot development rather than relying on excessive spice. The character growth and intricate world-building made for a compelling read. With Krys Janae’s engaging narration, this fast-paced adventure is captivating and full of supernatural intrigue.

This is the third book in the series. With this story, you get to change the perspective. This follows another characters point of view which was so fun. This was a fun fast read for me and I really enjoy the characters and this world. I look forward to reading more to come with this story.

This book was definitely not for me. I didn't read the first two books and maybe that would have made a difference but I doubt it. The book dragged and there were two important content warnings missing that would've further let me know I was not the target audience.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this audiobook.

I received an audio book version from NetGalley for my honest review.

Unfortunately, this book was just not for me. I found the main character forgettable, and the story dragged on. I dnfd the book about ten chapters in.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC

I've enjoyed the two first books in this series and was excited about the third installment. Unfortunately I fell flat for me. It felt more like a filler than anything else, especially considering the length. Also does our fmc get a new love interest every new book? I don't mind the sapphic love story, but I think I'd prefer more consistency. This didn't like up to my expectations, but I have hope the next will be better

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a copy of A Shift in Fortune. I was really excited to continue this series after loving the previous books. This book is from a different POV of Bryn which I think worked well and fitted really nicely with how the previous book ended. I loved that this POV gave us some development and more information about the Valkyries whilst still continuing from the previous story and keeping the characters that we have loved from the previous two books. It’s a much shorter and lighter book than previously in the series but sets up the next book and some of the threats that are going to be faced really well.

I really like the narrator of this series!

So I had no idea there was a change in POV for this book, since I never read book blurbs 🙈 But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how great this book was!

It was a continuation from the last book just in a different POV and I loved getting a better look inside this characters head!

I listened to the audiobook and it was amazing! I love this narrator! Her voices and accents are perfection 😍

A Shift in Fortune: A Sapphic Valkyrie Fantasy Romance (Lost Legacies, #3)
by Maddox Grey
The next story in the series from the Valkyrie of the series. Showing the natural development of the shift in change between the worlds as things change. The development of the Valkyrie nature and its sacrificial nature creates a new point of view to the series.
The audible version has a great reader, with an accent to her presentation that shows the nature of the character.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review

I think I would have enjoyed this book a lot more , I hadn’t completely realized it wasn’t the first book in the series so jumping into the third one got a bit of time to get used to and understand what was happening. When I did though I still didn’t feel very attached to the characters , I didn’t find them all that interesting. The setting was unique and interesting though, I wish it could have been described just a bit more. Some portions of the writing had mistakes as well. Editing errors possibly. So I feel like the writing took me out of the story sometimes at times. However the plot itself is fascinating and I find myself really wanting to know what’s going to happen next !

I'll be publishing my review on Goodreads and StoryGraph 12th September and on Tik tok most likely will add to a monthly wrap up post with review the beginning of October.
