A detailed involved start to this story. Plenty of description of the mansion and so many rooms of the home Zo Grey inherited upon the death of her mother and subsequent death of a lost relative. To earn her inheritance she must live there alone for 3 years.
This story takes a dark turn when she finds her mother was murdered.
There is a great journey that Zo must take that will change her. Choices she must make that will have consequences.
This is obviously the setting of a new series with a lot more to come.
I received a free review copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest unedited feedback.

I have so much love and nostalgia for KMM's books and to be fair , it was never going to live up to that.
Was delighted to be approved an arc for her new series, and it definitely has elements of KMMs addictive writing and storytelling. It does just take a while to get going, so I'm hoping the sequel will feel more fast paced. I enjoyed the themes of community and finding oneself, and just to be aware a lot of themes of grief are also involved.
There are parts that feel quite derivative of the Fever series so I hope it becomes its own story in the coming books.
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-arc.

I was unable to complete The House at Watch Hill as the formatting was off and most of the text was illegible. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you with this feedback. I still want to read this one so will pick up a copy and provide feedback at a later date.
Kind regards

Karen Marie Moning is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors, and this is a welcome addition to her library. It's filled with supernatural beings, mystery, secrets and danger.

In this book, we are introduced to Zo Grey, a young woman who has spent her life moving around with her mother. She wants to stay in one place, but for reasons her mother won't divulge, they need to keep moving.

After the sudden death of her ailing mother, she is contacted by a lawyer who tells her that she is the last blood relative of a distant relative and has inherited her house and fortune. Wanting a change, she heads to Divinity, Louisiana, where she moves into the house that sits on the peak of Watch Hill.

The lawyer tells her that the house and money will be hers, but there are some rules she must comply with first to inherit. The house is filled with mysteries and secrets, and by the end of the book, she will have some answers and yet more questions.

I am so happy that this book is the first in a trilogy as it ends on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to read the next two books.

I really loved this book. Beautifully written - I feel like you can tell Ms Moning was dealing with a lot in her life at the time of writing and it comes through as amazingly descriptive language and emotions within the book.
Having read her other series' I wasn't sure how 'fantastical' this story would be, but so far it seems a bit more realistic to me which I enjoyed.
I found this an easy yet extremely compelling read and I cannot wait for more in this series.

As an OG fan of Karen Marie Moning, I was thrilled to see a new book and series from her!
I was not disappointed- her writing is just as easy to read as ever, and i flew through this one. When I initially picked it up I wasn't sure if it was a standalone or book one of many, and it became quite clear, quite quickly that we have more to come in this story line. Foreshadowing abounds.
KMM has a great way of building complex, interesting magic systems but in an easy to understand and down to earth way. I love how this one is caught up in interpersonal relationships and family trees. As always, the hot men are hot in this one, and boy does she know how to write hot men. And women who aren't afraid of sex, which is always nice. I'd say this volume is a bit spicy, with a door left open to the rest of the series.
I really enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to reading the next!

❤️‍🔥 KMM is back with a bang!
This book is everything I would expect from KMM.
Masterfully crafted grey characters
Feisty FMC. I love the fact that they don't hang around to wait for Mr Perfect 😉
All kinds of sexy males
Impossible stakes
Twisty plot lines
A maze of confusing emotions and allegiances for the reader to explore. Who is 'good'? Who is 'bad'? Or are the lines more blurry than we dare to think.
Is Divinity a haven or Hell?
Can't wait for the next installments!!!

I had to resort to reading this on the computer as the Kindle format was not correctly formatted for the tablet or the app. Once I was able to correctly view the book, I enjoyed this gothic witchy tale.
A fabulous read for this season.

I’m very grateful to have received this eARC through NetGalley

The House at Watch Hill is the story of Zo (like no!) a 24 year old woman who has lived a tragic life who finds herself thrown into a mysterious new town with plenty of secrets and expectations.

Witches, Vampires, gothic horror & Celtic mythology this books blends beautifully descriptive prose with suspense and an ominous under current. There is more to the town of Divinity that meets the eye.

I really enjoyed this, it kept me guessing throughout and is a perfect witchy fall read

I am so excited to read this book, as I absolutely adored KMM's 'Fever' series. Unfortunately, this sample is impossible to read. The narration appears to jump between two sorts of consciousness. In its current ARC format it is far too difficult to differentiate and therefore get any real grip on the story. So, I can only hope these formatting issues are fixed for the final.copy.

I really wanted to read this book and I will buy it once published but it is impossible to read in its current format. There are only a few coherent lines and then it breaks up completely and is impossible to read.

Not for me, or potentially the formatting of the sample rendered it unreadable. The concept is intriguing but its clearly meant to have poetic bits that you have to fight to read in the right order. The bits that are story paragraphs were well written but the text messages were also confusing as to who is speaking. Hopefully the book when printed doesn't have these issues
