This was an exciting thriller. Kate witnesses a car crash into her neighbor's fence, but no one else remembers it, and the fence is perfectly fine. Strange things start happening to her, and she believes someone is trying to silence her. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense as Kate tries to uncover the truth. The twists kept me hooked, and I couldn’t put it down. Some of the stuff she went through was crazy!!

Absolutely loved this book, the way the story unfolded was amazing, all the characters were so relatable and you really felt you were along with them. It had everything you wanted in a brilliant who done it . Kept you guessing to the very end of who was the guilty person . Even to the last few pages you were shocked. Really highly recommend this book as a must read.

I went into this blind and I’m so glad I did. I really enjoyed the plot and it kept you guessing and not knowing who to trust. And even what is real. You’ll want to keep turning to find out how it ends. A really great suspenseful thriller with a great plot.

Fool Me Once by Mark Gillespie is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps readers on edge from start to finish. The story centers on Kate, a woman whose quiet evening is thrown into chaos when she witnesses a car crash into her neighbor’s fence. However, things take a bizarre turn when everyone, including the neighbors, insists the crash never happened—and, even more puzzling, the fence shows no damage.
As strange and unsettling events begin to unfold in her life—such as a mysterious man following her home and an attempted break-in—Kate becomes convinced that these occurrences are linked to the crash. Desperate for answers, she must navigate a growing web of lies and deceit as she tries to uncover the truth behind the wreck and the dangerous secret someone is determined to keep hidden.
With tight pacing and a chilling atmosphere, Gillespie weaves a suspenseful narrative that explores themes of trust, paranoia, and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets. The tension is palpable as Kate struggles to determine if she’s losing her mind or if there’s a much darker conspiracy at play. Fool Me Once is a twisty, fast-paced thriller that will have readers questioning what’s real until the very last page.

I tried to read this book but found it too complicated. It just didn't grab me I am afraid so I didn't finish it

Edgy, Twisting..
An accident is the catalyst for confusion in this twisting, turning novel of psychological suspense. Kate witnesses a car accident, she sees police and ambulance services at the scene and she knows that she was not the only witness. When everyone denies having seen anything at all the following day, Kate is more than befuddled - but when odd events begin to occur, terror sets in. A fast paced plot where nothing is as it seems, solid storytelling and a well drawn cast make for an edgy read.

This book....oh.my.gosh....I don't even know where to start to avoid spoiling it. It was so so good! As a mom of a 9yr old raised in the social media/influencers era I agreed with a lot of things that were said about accountability and pranks going wrong. Please read the book and you will understand what I mean. Absolutely top-notch storytelling and plot development....getting to part 2 I was completely blown away by the direction it took - it truly FOOLED ME!
Huge thanks to the author and Netgalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy. Looking forward to reading more books by the author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. I was quite interested in reading this book just from reading the description. Well this turned out to be a very different story than what I was expecting. Without regurgitating the same book description I can tell you that Kate and her boyfriend witness a car accident where the vehicle drives into the neighbour's fence one evening and all the neighbours rush outside to see if they can help with any injuries that might have happened. All is good until the next morning when Kate seems to be the only one to remember this accident. Not even her husband remembers the accident. Is she losing her mind? Oh but wait....there is so much more going on here and I am kind of stuck in the middle as to how I feel about the direction this story went. Is it too crazy and far fetched or is this just how things go nowadays with the high tech world we live in......I will leave that up to you to decide.....enjoy!!!

good mystery about a couple and staying in a house and the other couple there. kept me on my toes . good mystery and figuring stuff out.

Not for me. I thought this would be more of a domestic thriller, but it was more like a Black Mirror episode. The concept was original and somewhat intriguing, but I didn't care for the execution, and I was not interested enough in the main character enough to care what happened to her. Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the e-ARC

Gaslighting on another level! Interesting premise. Well weitten. Good characters. I enjoyed it. Poor Kate, I was rooting for her from.the start and wanted to throttle her useless boyfriend!

When I read the description for this book, it wasn’t at all what I expected. The story was based around an influencer who gets a taste of her own medicine after pranking people which is what she does on her YouTube channel. I expected the story to go in a different direction but I just wasn’t invested in the influencer content. It’s just not my thing but the ending was interesting. I feel this book is more for young adults that engage in constantly posting videos and try to make a living doing it.

Really good book!! Really fast read! Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review!!

If you like psychological thrillers this book will have you on your toes. So many twist and turns you can not predict what happens next. Is Kate imagining things, did she get to drunk? Fool Me Once is a suspenseful story that won’t let you put the book down.

This was an interesting read that took you on one crazy journey. We get to see different perspectives for how the senerio plays out. There is some past to present flashbacks depending on who is currently telling their side of the story. This also gives you something to think about with how much influence people have over others on social media.

Okaaaaay, whilst I have no idea WTAF I've just read, in which direction it was going to take me and what the outcome would be, I do know is that the book was a fantastic intro to Gillespie's writing for me and has 100% piqued my interest into reading more from him.
It's a fast paced thriller that will have you questioning your perceptions of reality alongside Kate. Twisty beyond belief, Gillespie has created a compelling and addictive read in Fool Me Once...it certainly had me!
The characters are fantastic, the plot insane and you won't want to stop until you've devoured every last word.

I enjoyed this one so much. It kept me guessing throughout, and I didn’t see a single plot twist coming. Our characters were complicated, flawed and messy. The conclusion was satisfying, whilst still keeping some mystery. This was exactly what I needed from a psych thriller
4.5*

Fast paced psychological thriller. Kate wakes up after an evening of drinking to a car crashing into her neighbors fence… the next day, the fence is fixed and the neighbor tells her it didn’t happen. Is she losing her mind, or is something sinister at play? I was genuinely confused until I got the second part. The ending was perfect.

I literally flew through this book. It was super fast-paced and unputdownable. I picked it up without any expectations, but it entertained me more than I expected. And finished it in one day!
The book needs some suspension of disbelief (okay, quite a lot of suspension), but it manages to deliver. Best for lovers of Freida McFadden and the dystopian books of John Marrs.
3.5 stars.

This story demands your full attention when reading. It evokes the same vibes as Hello, Darling or The Truman Show, while also being a bit dark and highly twisted.
