Another absolutely fabulous read from Heidi Park. I was gripped from the start and couldn’t put it down. This is a real rollercoaster of a story about two young g people who go missing while travelling but the events that then are revealed are packed with twists and turns. I absolutely loved it.

I just love reading this authors books and when Heidi Perks latest book came out I had to read it and it did not disappoint. Someone is Lying by Heidi Perks was another excellent book from start to finish I ended up glued to my comfy chair and read it till I had finished. WoW just excellent! it took my breath away!

Now, what would you do?

and how do you find your daughter when no one believes she is missing? Hmmmmmmmm

Single mother Jess and her daughter Issie have always shared an unbreakable bond, especially for the last seven years, it's been just the two of them. This was a relationship with no secrets from each other and they shared everything.

That is, until Issie meets Dylan.

Everything between Jess and her daughter Issie is changing!

Now, the Issie and Dylan announce their plans to go travelling, Jess is devastated. Issie is so young! she is only seventeen after all, and Jess doesn’t trust her daughter’s new boyfriend Dylan.

Then, she stops hearing from Issie altogether, she's terrified.

Where is she?

Now, Dylan refusing to talk, and the police unwilling to help, Jess is faced with a mother's worst nightmare.

Can she find her daughter before it's too late?

WoW. . . . . .This book was excellent, It's a roller coaster ride with full of twists and turns form the very beginning, So strap yourself in . . . . . it's a rocky ride!

I highly recommend it.

Big Thank you to NetGalley and especially Random House UK, Cornerstone | Penguin for my ARC.

Oh this was good. Jess and her daughter Issie have always had a strong bond, but recently Issie has changed, and now she's gone travelling with her older boyfriend Dylan. Out of touch for a few days and non contactable on her 18th birthday in Portugal, Jess worries for Issie and goes to the police. She sets in train a whole series of events which may not have panned out the same if she'd left them to it. Jess is convinced Dylan has harmed Issie, Dylan's mum is adamant he hasn't. Who is lying? Who knows what? Nothing is as it seems. Someone must be lying. #netgalley #someoneislying

A missing persons case but with a twist. Jess allows her daughter to go away on holiday with her older boyfriend reluctantly. Then they go silent right on her daughter's 18th birthday. Can she find her daughter?

This was an interesting read but it didn't thrill me like i had hoped. The plot was clever and threw in some good twists but I could stop at 90% which told me I wasn't as invested in the plot. Its told through Jess, Kaye and a podcast about the case which gives it a more modern feel. It raises some particularly tough questions as a parent that do make you think what you would do in that situation. The ending was well done and that last bit so clever. A good thriller, mystery.

This book is twisty and I kept changing my mind on what I thought had happened. The storyline didn’t go the way I was expecting it to which was exciting.

I really loved the dual-perspective of the two mums (Jess and Kay). There are so many brilliant themes explored but one prominent one is focussed on what a mother would do to protect their child. It was also so interesting to hear how the two mums can have completely different perceptions on their child and partner. This gave the book a different angle to other books in the same genre and it was thought-provoking which added another element to the dark crime storyline.

The third perspective comes from a true-crime podcast looking into the disappearance of Issie, which, again, gave a different angle and I always love the use of different media in a crime book!

This was a great, mysterious read which gets you thinking about who you can really trust!

Your daughter is missing, no one believes you.

Jess has felt her daughter Issie growing apart from her since she got with her boyfriend Dylan. When they go travelling Jess is far from pleased but just wants Issie to be happy. Used to daily contact Jess knows something is really wrong when Issie doesn’t call or message but nobody will take her seriously. As Jess heads to Portugal to look for her daughter she soon finds more than she wanted to…did she ever really know her daughter?

Thanks to @netgalley for the opportunity to read this book, I found it a quick read that kicked my moral compass to work.

Such a brilliant read.
Lots of twists, never gave I changed my allegiances from character to character so much.

The premise of this book was interesting and I liked reading the POV of both mothers with extracts from a true crime podcast helping to explain the story. However, I have to admit I struggled with this book. My problem is that before even half way through I just didn't care about any of the characters and wasn't feeling any tension. It's difficult to say much more without giving away spoilers but I found the story and the characters were all a bit too subtle, and the ending wasn't very satisfying, despite feeling like it went on forever.

Thank you to NetGalley, Random House UK and Cornerstone for the eARC of this book.

This writer, Heidi Perks, led me down the garden path in believing one side of the story for the majority of the book until the many twists and turns arrived. What appeared clear in the early stages became very cloudy as I turned the pages. Izzy (about to turn 18) had run off with Dylan and this had infuriated her mother, Jess, who tried to find solace with Kay, Dylan's mother. This doesn't go according to plan so Jess has to fly to Portugal and try and find her daughter, and perhaps the boyfriend as well. Meanwhile, Jess's ex-husband gets involved and while he has many positive thoughts, most of them appear negative to the family, have investigated his motives and the content. The police in Portugal, after first appearing unwilling, lately take a much closer look at the events occurring in Izzy and Dylan's life. As the title suggests, many people are lying with many hiding secrets they hope never to disclose. While I enjoyed 95% of the book, I did find the ending a little too obvious and was hoping for something special, but this wouldn't stop me suggesting others read this book because it is excellent and you may agree with the ending.

This is a gripping read, a mother’s endless and unconditional love.
Two mothers, two teenagers, Issie and Dylan. The teenagers are in love and go travelling, Issie’s mother Jess becomes concerned when she can’t get the hold of Issie, on the day of Issie’s 18th birthday Jess repeatedly rings her daughters phone, worry sets in, she eventually contacts the police in Portugal. Jess also tracks down Dylan’s mum Kay who denies having heard from him.
This is a fast paced read with lots of mystery, the story is told by the. two mothers, Jess and Kay and a podcaster. Jess travels to Portugal to talk to the police, whilst there a body of a young woman is found and the police have evidence that Issie and Dylan have been involved in her death, one of them was driving the car that ran her down, but who?
This is an intriguing story, both mothers are protective of their own child, there are a few twists and turns as the story unfolds and the truth revealed.
Many thanks to Random House UK for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review. Heidi Perks has delivered another 5 star read

A compelling “he said, she said”. As a parent you like to believe your child is telling the truth but they can’t both be doing so. And, if yours isn’t, what do you do? Back them regardless? Or encourage them to speak up and accept the consequences? I raced through this book making a long train journey much shorter than I anticipated.

Seventeen year old Issie used to be her mother's best friend, until she met Dylan, her nineteen year old boyfriend. Issie has changed since she started going out with Dylan, her mum Jess thinks Issie is being controlled by him. Shortly before her eighteenth birthday Issie and Dylan go off travelling to Portugal. Jess is against the idea however doesn't want to alienate Issie further so agrees she can go. Wanting to make contact with Issie on her eighteenth birthday Jess becomes increasingly worried when her calls and messages are ignored. Indeed it appears Issie's phone has been turned off. At what point does Jess report her daughter as missing and how does she do this when Issie is not in the UK?

This is a riveting, page turning thriller with plenty of intrigue and mystery and is so much more than a missing girl story. The plot is well thought out, having plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing right to the end. The characterisations of Jess, Issie, Dylan and Kay (Dylan's mum) are very skillfully executed. The story explores many themes: single parenthood, class divide and whether this effects preconceptions of guilt/innocence, whether wealth gives an unfair advantage in the quest for justice, how far would a mother go to protect their child.

The story is told from the points of view of the two mother,s with a true crime podcast manuscript interspersed between. The insertion of the podcast is a genius addition to the narration. An engaging read, perfect for packing in your holiday suitcase.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for my advanced reader copy in return for my honest and unbiased review.

Someone Is Lying is the twistiest read of the year so far for me.
Issie is seventeen and her boyfriend Dylan is a couple of years older, they are going travelling for a short while round Portugal. Issie’s mum isn’t head over heels with it as she thinks Dylan is controlling her daughter. Being a single parent she maybe looks too deep but her daughter has definitely changed whilst seeing Dylan. She drops them at the airport reluctantly and gets updates from Issie every few days but it’s her eighteenth birthday and she’s not heard from her. Where is she and what has Dylan done to her. Jess flys out to Portugal with the aim to find her daughter but what happens is nothing she ever expected.
This was a great read that I struggled to put down. There are so many twists and turns right up to the end! The characters were well rounded so made them feel believable which made the book better. The storyline was tense at times but really enjoyable. Can’t wait for the next from this author.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Q-Do you think you who family or friends truly are?

Read if you like:
-Moral dilemma
-Teenage Couple
-Secrets
-Strong mothers
-Multiple POVs
-Disappearances and murder

This is my second book by this author and it is definitely tense and twisty. The opening chapter was gripping right till the end.

The characters are well-drawn and I really felt for Jess throughout. The other characters maybe not as much. However, the actions brilliantly illiterate how far a parent would go to protect their own. The way the author wrote the characters- so different and living different lives but both equally struggling with single-parenthood. At one point I did find that Jess was a hypocrite, but I can understand her thought process. I loved that she made the right decision in the end,

My only criticism in my opinion is having read The Daughter by TM Logan the beginning did feel a little similar. Obviously that is bound to happen as there is only so many stories that can be told and they were published around the same time. I also did guess one of the twist involving one of the characters.

I really enjoyed the podcast elements of the story that were dotted through the book. It helped provide a summary and a different perspective to the story. I do love a book with multi-media it adds another layer and keeps you gripped.

I flew through the ending and would definitely recommend to anyone that loves a good domestic psychological thriller that keeps you guessing. The ending will leave you feeling uneasy specially when you think that it is all over and concluded- very well done.

Someone is lying...and it might not be who you think.

This is a he-said-she-said story. It is a story about a mother's love and what a mother would do for her child.
Mothers always think they know their child best, but do they?
Would you do anything to save your child, even if it means lying, or would you practice tough love and let them take responsibility for their mistakes?

I am a huge fan of Heidi Perks, and this was another awesome read! She has an amazing way of pulling you into the story, and it is one of those books you don't want to put down.
Highly recommend!!

I’ve read a couple of Heidi Perks books before, so was intrigued to read her latest novel, Someone is Lying, publishing on 27th March. Thanks to Random House UK Cornerstone and NetGalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

This book is easy enough to read and initially held my interest. Issie and Dylan are a young couple away travelling, when they go missing in Portugal. Jess, Issie’s mum, is very concerned and fears the worst has happened to her daughter. She’s never liked Dylan and thinks he’s manipulated and controlled Issie. Kay, Dylan’s mum, seems less concerned. As the story goes on things don’t add up, who isn’t telling the truth?

The book moves through different points of view, mostly between Jess and Kay. It makes you wonder what a mother would do to protect their child. I didn’t connect with any of the characters, and found it a bit cliche at times. Some parts of the book were predictable yet it seemed to drag on and I felt like it took me a long time to read.

Overall the book was alright but I wasn’t as gripped as I’d hoped and it was a bit underwhelming.

I enjoyed this psychological thriller. There were enough twists to keep me guessing, It was a bit slow at times, but picked up towards the end.

This book really has got me stumped in terms of a review.
I enjoyed reading the book, but feel that there actually wasn't much plot, it is more of a character study than a thriller. I guessed the 'twist' right from the very beginning - it didn't come as a surprise.
I wasn't necessarily on the edge of my seat. However, I still was enjoying reading and finding out more about the characters.
I think the book was trying to do too many things, so I felt a little flat at the end - not really knowing how I should feel. What was Heidi Perks trying to say? Nevertheless I enjoyed reading, but am a little bit puzzled...

Heidi Perks delivers yet another gripping psychological thriller with Someone Is Lying, a novel packed with unexpected twists and turns that will keep readers on edge until the very last page.
As secrets begin to unravel, suspicion spreads like wildfire, making this a clever whodunnit that trulykept me guessing.
For any parent, this novel taps into a worse nightmare—the idea that those closest to you might not be who they seem. The characters are layered, flawed, and entangled in a web of deceit that heightens the tension and suspense with every chapter.
I devoured this compelling thriller, my heart pounding with each shocking revelation. It’s the kind of book that you just can’t put down—an absolute pulse-racing read from start to finish. If you’re looking for the perfect holiday read,Someone Is Lying will not disappoint.
