The timeline in this book doesn't make sense (people's ages don't match up with the timeline) but if you can overlook that fact, this is a great book. I enjoyed it from the very first page and I loved the ending!

This is the second book in the Puffin Island series from this author. The small island is joined to the mainland by a causeway which can be crossed only at certain states of the tide. As well as being home to a large colony of puffins, the island has a close community of human inhabitants and is popular with tourists. At one time, ships passing near the island were protected from treacherous waters by its lighthouse and the keepers who maintained its warning beam. This book can be read as a standalone for those who haven’t read the first in the series.

This story features local artist and gallery owner Delilah (Dilly) Waters, whose late mother was actually born in the Puffin Island lighthouse. When it is announced that the building is to be put up for auction, Dilly is desperate to win the lighthouse and make it her home. Having recently had a narrow escape from a man who tried to con her out of her inheritance, Dilly has sworn off romance, but when a face from her past walks into the gallery, that may change. Max Harrington was Dilly’s art teacher at college. She had feelings for him then, which of course she had to ignore, but she realises that she is still attracted to him now. What’s more, it turns out that her feelings are reciprocated. However, Dilly makes a shock discovery that may prove an obstacle to any relationship developing with Max. It also turns out that there is a long-held secret waiting to be discovered.

This was an enjoyable book that I am happy to recommend. It was good to return to Puffin Island and meet up once more with some of the inhabitants who featured in the last book in the series. Dilly and Max were both likeable characters who seemed made for each other, but needed plenty of strength to overcome the hurdles being thrown in their direction. I loved Dilly’s idea of making the lighthouse into her home. I managed to guess the secret that was revealed later in the book, but that didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the story. Once again, I was fascinated by Puffin Island; it sounds a really lovely place to visit and I look forward to learning more about it in the next book in this series.

I'm absolutely loving this new series by Christie Barlow. I don't know how she does it but she has this amazing talent to just draw you in and make you part of every single story.
The added extra of dropping in little pieces of history to make each story so much more is just brilliant. The characters all tell their own story but it blends so perfectly. I can't wait for the next installment.

A lovely read from Christie Barlow. I somehow missed the first book in the series but it didn't matter at all because they don't follow on. Enjoyable read.

In this the second of a new series by Christie Barlow, we are back on Puffin Island.

Delilah has her sights set on buying the Puffin Island Lighthouse, she thinks it will be the answer to all her problems after the tough time she has had lately. It is part of her family history and she cannot let it go to anyone else.

Max, Delilah's art teacher comes back into her life, when he finds work with Delilah's father and memories and feelings start to resurface but Delilah has sworn off all men and Max has it seems problems of his own.

As their paths continue to cross and a relationship develops it also comes to light that there is a mystery of the lighthouse that Delilah is so desperate to own.

A great second novel in this series and we start to see the secondary characters who will clearly make more of a presence in future novels.

For fans of Christie Barlow or someone who enjoys books which feature community, friendship and love at their hear. I envy anyone who hasn't read any of this authors books before, as you have a treat when you discover them.

Puffin Island is the most idyllic setting for a story and getting to know Dilly and Max just wonderful.
This is the second in the series from Christie Barlow and I’ve been totally absorbed in this one.
The history of the lighthouse and its keepers is fascinating and I’ve loved learning more about the community and all its secrets.
The chemistry between Dilly and Max was obvious from the start and I enjoyed seeing them both have a second chance in life with the support from the friend and community.
Another cracker from Christie Barlow and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

I know I am a bit late with my review on this book but was hospitalised for several weeks and my reading was a struggle, caught up with several books now and this is one book I really enjoyed, realised it was book 2 so have downloaded book 1 to read,. Dilly (Delilah) is a strong lovely character who just needs a new start, the book has some surprises and reunions reunions. Loved all the characters so looking forward to book 1 to catch up

This is book #2 in the Puffin Island series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book. I never thought this author could come up with a better series than the Love Heart Lane books, but two books into the Puffin Island series and I’m hooked! We are back on the Island and get to meet Dilly Waters. Dilly is an Island girl and because of her family connections to the Lighthouse, when it comes up for sale, she knows she has to buy it. She’s been unlucky in love recently, but when Max, a face from the past, arrives on the Island, will that all change?

This was a lovely read. Straight away, I found myself hooked into Dilly’s story and it was a delight to back on Puffin Island. The story begins in a flashback to the night that Dilly’s mother was born in the Lighthouse and then we move back to present day to follow Dilly’s life. I really liked her character and admired her determination in purchasing the Lighthouse and running her Gallery, all on her own! Her relationship with Max was cute and romantic, and all the other Islanders (who we have met in the previous book) were fun and supportive in their friendships with Dilly. They all showed a great sense of community spirit and rallied round when it was needed.

The location sounded absolutely wonderful, and as I read, I could picture the Lighthouse with the stunning backdrop of Puffin Island. I could just image the Lighthouse when it was renovated, and was really jealous that I couldn’t live there as well!! This was such an easy read, and whilst it was lighthearted for most of the time, it also had some more emotional moments running through Dilly’s story. It was a warming read which you won’t want to put down until you’ve finished. Lovely characters, an amazing location and the perfect romantic storyline. Would definitely recommend.

Warmhearted, funny, fabulous characters and a gorgeous setting, Christie Barlow does it again. Returning to Puffin Island and this time following Dilly and Max, the story is full of heart and beautifully written. With enough drama to keep the pages turning I read it in one sitting. The characters are relatable and engaging and it’s the best in romantic escapism. Perfect for fans of Sarah Bennett, Philippe Ashley and Cathy Bramley.

I have loved all of Christie Barlow's books, and The Lighthouse Daughters of Puffin Island was another to add to that list!.

The next instalment in this beautiful series was as I have come to expect, a beautifully written story with a cast of endearing, captivating characters that are brought to life beautifully by the author.

I love Christie Barlow’s books, so have no idea how I’ve missed this series so far. What a great book - easy to get into and even though I haven’t read the other in the series I didn’t feel like I had missed any information pertinent to the unfolding of the situation featured in this book.
Lovely heartwarming story, filled with interesting & fully-formed characters and set in an idyllic sounding coastal community, this held my interest from beginning to end.
Absolutely loved this book & am hoping there’s more to come.

Dilly has succeeded as an artist and is happy to give back to the community that raised her; when the old lighthouse with family connections comes up for sale, she has to have it. Dilly's emotional past is full of angst and heartbreak, but meeting Max again may change that. I enjoyed my return to Puffin Island and Dilly's engaging story. It has definite echoes from the past that drive Dilly's need to buy the old lighthouse, and it's a poignant story filled with hope and love. Dilly is a likeable and strong protagonist, and Max is a warm character she knows from her past. Their romance has plenty of conflict, but their connection is compelling, and I believe in them. The family drama and history are complex and tragic but add heartwarming events to this lovely story. I like the community setting, the historical echoes reflected in the present and the cast of relatable characters who give this story its authenticity and charm.

Meanwhile, she's contemplating bidding to buy the actual lighthouse now permanently linked to the island, to set up a community gallery space and home. When Max seems interested, all seems good, but of course nature and life throw spanners in the works. And Betty, one of the island's oldest residents, must be holding some secrets ...

Another warm and generous community novel from Christie Barlow: although we haven't been with the series long enough to see much development from the last main character, I know that will come in time. I love that she has had the same copy-editor through both of these series and thanks book bloggers amongst others (you're welcome!).

This is the second book in the Puffin Island series, and it is as wonderful as the first book in the series. Christie Barlow took me back to Puffin Island and it was great to be back there.
The characters in this series all feel like people I would like to know in real life. Christie Barlow knows how to give a story that pulled me in and kept me in the story until the very last page.
I read the last page and now wait eagerly for the next book in the series.

This book was a blast, lovely characters, interesting story line (although there were moments when I had to suspend some belief)
I enjoy a story set in a beautiful place and I loved the setting and the story.

It was in 1950 that Selby gave birth to a little girl, Eva, in the midst of a huge storm. Her husband, Mack, the lighthouse keeper was washed away in that storm. Selby worked hard to bring up her little daughter.

Today, Ava’s daughter, Dilly, has become a very talented artist having won many awards and has sold a number of her painting. While she was in art school, she was impressed with her teacher, Max Harrington. Not only was he handsome, but he encouraged her art.

Today, Dilly’s parents have been divorced and her mother remarried. It was when the couple was on a trip, that a car ran off the road pushing them into the sea and washing them away. Dilly grieves the loss of her beautiful mother.

Dilly had been in a relationship with Giles who turned out to be a scammer only after women’s money.

Max has moved to Puffin island and is working for Dilly’s father in his boat repair business. She is surprised to find that he had married a very wealthy but extremely manipulative woman and is divorcing her.

Dilly has just learned that the lighthouse is going to be auctioned off and she wants to bid on it. She has plans to turn it into a gallery on the bottom floor and live in the upstairs rooms.

As her plans escalate, something surprising happens in her life and changes it. it turns out that it’s for the good, but there may be some stumbling blocks to overcome along the way.

I enjoyed this story and found it to be heartwarming especially with the close friendships of the residents of Puffin Island. I highly recommend this book. This is only the fourth book I have read by this author and now I will be on the lookout to read more. She is very talented and knows how to pen stories of great friendship and beautiful scenery.
