Any book by Gemma Rogers is an instant read for me. I swooped up The Honeymoon and couldn't wait to read it. Kelly and Ryan have just gotten married. At the reception, Kelly sees something that totally shatters her dream. She gets in a taxi and heads to the airport, alone, to go on her honeymoon to Crete. We have cheating, pushy women, suspicious best friends, a handsome bartender, and a dangerous thug.

I just could NOT get into this book. There was that little twist in the beginning, but I felt like I was reading and reading and getting nowhere. I found Kelly to be sappy and unlikable. Ryan was even worse. I didn't connect with any of the characters. The writing was wonderful, as always, for a Gemma Rogers book. Something though was missing for me. It took me awhile to finish this book because the suspense factor just wasn't there. However, I can't wait until her next book is released.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I do recommend this book and it does get great reviews. I think it just wasn't the book for me.

The premise of this book had me intrigued from the start. I have never read anything by Gemma Rogers before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Honestly when I started the book I was like same old cliché. Cheating husband. Pushover wife.
WRONG!!

On her wedding day Kelly finds her husband Ryan with his tongue down her friend's throat. Not only is Liza Kelly's friend but also the wife of her husband's business partner and friend. Disgusted by what she saw, Kelly decides to go to their honeymoon destination of Crete alone. Days later Ryan shows up along "her"(Liza) and her husband. This is where Kelly gets some moxie and has a few surprises of her own. The honeymoon is awkward at best but when danger arises Kelly is not sure who she can trust.

This book was really good and I found myself rooting for Kelly. I was glad she showed some spunk and that made it easier to like her. All the other characters left much to be desired and were totally unlikeable. I will definitely be checking out more from Gemma Rogers in the future.

Kelly and Ryan have been together for ten years when they get married at a beautiful venue. During the evening party, Kelly goes outside for some fresh air – and wondering where her new husband is – when she comes across a summerhouse. She then catches Ryan and her best friend, Liza, in a very compromising position. Kelly is obviously gutted and decides that she’ll still go on honeymoon, but without Ryan so she gets changed and sets off without telling anyone.

Ten days in beautiful Crete is just what she needs to get over this horrible shock, but Ryan appears a few days later, having been reunited with his passport after Kelly hid it. Then the secrets start to come out.

This novel, with its expertly woven plot and accelerating pace, drew me into a world where nothing was as it seemed, and every turn of the page heightened the tension.
From the very beginning, Gemma Rogers established an atmosphere thick with uncertainty and a rollercoaster of emotions. The unexpected revelations left me emotionally invested in the outcomes, heightening the suspense of the couple’s tumultuous journey of a harrowing exploration of trust and betrayal.
Thank you Gemma Rogers, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an early copy.

Quite enjoyable but a little bit far fetched at times. Quite enjoyable but a little bit far fetched at times.

Another hard to put down read from Gemma Rogers,
Kelly finds her husband of only a few hours breaking his wedding vows with her best friend, so where does that leave her happy ever after?
What follows is a story covering themes of deception and trust, yet Kelly keeps going coping with a rollercoaster of betrayal after betrayal and a mysterious acquaintance of her husband.
Layer by layer, the story unfolds, leaving us with a fulfilling psychological thriller read.
RECOMMENDED

This was a crazy read! In a good way.
This is my first book my Gemma Rogers, and I'm new to thriller style books but I really do enjoy them - just like I enjoy this book!
It held my attention the whole book - I read it in one sitting and it flowed incredibly well, I couldn't put my kindle down haha
I didn't expect a lot of twists and surprises, so many shady characters and twists that I think most will love reading this book!

The Honeymoon is a psychological thriller that I read in one sitting. Kelly has just married Ryan when she catches him having sex with his best friend's wife. She decides to hide his passport and then goes on her honeymoon alone. That is, until he finds the passport and joins her. Every single time I had things figured out. The books just keeps twirling deeper and deeper. I did get an inkling of one of the plot pieces but it was all good because the whole book was fabulously suspenseful.
The book flowed and it felt like riding through the rapids. I was all in!

I really enjoyed this book. I was gripped from the very first page and kept reading until the end as I wanted to know what happened. There was so many twists and turns that it had me guessing until the end. It was easy to follow and had a good cast of characters.
Overall a brilliant novel that I would recommend to other readers.

WOW! what a read.

After finding her new husband in a clinch with her best friends wife, Kelly escapes to Greece.

Not only was this supposed to be her honeymoon but soon after she arrives so does her cheating husband.

This domestic drama is uncomfirtable to read at times, her husband is quite controlling and comes across as emotionally abusive and Kelly has decisions to make.

This smooth well developed plot is a joy to read. I loved the main character and enjoyed the read..

Kelly, the main character, finds something out nobody ever wants to find out. I don't know whether is worse in her case, still floating on cloud nine or if it's worse when you have been married for a lot longer.

I understand why she reacts like this and I admire her for it; I would not act like her, oh no. Not at all!!!

When you think this is the biggest problem she has to deal with, you better think again.

I loved the premise and the twist and turns the author has added to make tis a very addictive read.

The author has never disappointed me and she always creates fantastic books. They are never too long, because she does not waste time and space by using too much descriptions and details that do not add anything to the story.

I love her storytelling and am looking forward to her next piece of art. 5 stars

Thank you

I am thoroughly enjoying this novel, which has proven to be a genuine page-turner. While I look forward to a more intense plot development, the current storyline is sufficiently engaging. I have developed a strong attachment to Kelly, the protagonist, and hope the author provides a definitive, happy conclusion, unmarred by the shadows of her past. I definitely recommend this book. Thank you Net Galley for generously letting me read the advanced copy of this book.

Newly wed Kelly is looking forward to her dream holiday in Greece, where she’ll be spending her honeymoon with husband Ryan.
Will it live up to her expectations or are dark clouds already looming above her marriage?
A smoothly written book, in which the author succeeds to mislead the reader. Ideal for reading on holiday

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 18th October 2024. What a suspenseful, fast- paced and twisty read! I throughly enjoyed this book and loved the Crete setting.

My favourite character was Kelly as I felt sorry for her many times throughout the book she wasn’t able to catch a break and Ryan I didn’t like his character at all! You really won’t be able to trust anyone in your life after you read this book!

Overall, I’d highly recommend this book as the twists just keep coming and you won’t be able to put the book down!

I love Gemma’s books and wow this one started off with a bang and ended with a bang. Kelly catches her husband with her friend at her wedding and flees on her own to they honeymoon. Ryan shows up a few days later and immediately shows his dark and controlling side. This book makes me want to go to the beach, but also makes me scared to go to the beach! Good book. Lots of suspense and drama. Little far fetched at the end to me but highly recommend as are all of her books!

Keely marries her high-shool sweetheart, and then catches him cheating on her with his best friend Bobby's wife, Liza, exactly seven hours and 24 minutes after saying 'I do'... and that's just the first paragraph!

The Honeymoon is well-written and super exciting. It's fast paced and doesn't waste time with words. The whole thing starts with a bang. What's not to like?

Keely and Ryan have been together since she was sixteen. They finally get married, and to her horror, she sees Ryan and her best friend, Liza, getting intimate. All this on her wedding day.
She hides Ryan's passport and flees to Crete alone, to spend her honeymoon alone.
Ryan follows a few days later, having found his passport, and Liza and her husband Bobby accompany him.
Kelly is not happy, and things start happening. Strange things.

This is the first book I have read by Gemma Rogers, and it certainly won't be my last.
It is a 'one more chapter' book, and I could not put it down.
I didn't like many of the main characters, Kelly was betrayed by not only her friends, but also her family, but was strong enough to withstand all that was thrown at her.
Twists galore in the book!

I recommend.
4/5 stars from me

The beginning of the book made me want to keep in reading to find out more about the characters.

Kelly sees her husband cheating on her with her best friend (during the wedding party), she hides his passport and leaves for their honeymoon in Crete alone (good for her).

The first part had a romance feel, but things got complicated after Ryan (the huband) got to the island with Liza (her best friend), and Liza’s husband, Bobby.

There are some twists and secrets revealed, that make you wonder who is lying. We only have Kelly’s POV, and she is constantly wondering if she is being gaslighted. The book is pretty short, with a fast pace (especially in the last part) and a lot of drama.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for a copy of the book for an honest review.
