I do enjoy a good Gemma Rogers book
What a thrilling read I flew through it on one sitting. Thank you for the opportunity to review the book
A few months ago I tried to read a book by this author (but I dnfed that book...) and now that I saw she had a new book coming up I decided to give Gemma Rogers another chance.
Well, it was not a successful attempt.
I believe that it is the writing that pulls me out of the story. I do like the plots of her books, but the execution feels too flat, too basic for my taste in mystery/thrillers. This one reads very quickly, I'll give you that. But it wasn't enough to keep me engaged or even curious to what would happen in the end.
I'd recommend this book to people who have read something by this author before and enjoyed it.
This book…wow! A dark and disturbing thriller that had me desperate to read just one more chapter. A cast of shady characters, a gripping story, everything I want from a book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"The Honeymoon" by Gemma Rogers is a page turning thriller that keeps you guessing to the very end. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and you don't want to put it down.
Kelly and Ryan are newlyweds and celebrating their wedding. Kelly finds out a secret that has her reeling. As they manage to go on their honeymoon more and more secrets start to come out. A tragedy at home shakes both of them up. As they try to figure out what the next steps are more roadblocks come up and you ask do you truly know the ones you love?
Highly recommend this book!
I really enjoyed The Honeymoon by Gemma Roger’s. It was a fast paced thriller that kept me turning the page to find out what was going to happen next. I’m looking forward to reading more books from this author.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.
This was a fantastic read. Being a dog walker mysef, I related so much to Kelly!
Gemma has a very easy-breezy writing which I always love in an author. She never stalls the story with unnecessary details. It's a fast paced story, it flows very easily.
I thought for a second the book was based on the song "The Black Dog" by Taylor Swift. It fitted so perfectly and it described this story so well. It's like you can hear the song in some of the moments through Kelly's POV.
I'm not saying it's the greatest thriller ever made or whatever, but the difference between what I expected (due to the cover that gave me cheap vibes) and what I got, was tremendous.
Thank you netgalley and bold wood books for allowing me to read an early copy of ‘the honeymoon’
This book was all based around a couples wedding to in which the bride found out he cheated on there wedding day so she flew out to Crete on her own.
I found it to be a quick thriller read, but, it was just so basic and too many things going on at once, felt like there was nothing else to write so another ‘plot twist’ was thrown in to keep it going and even then the plot twists didn’t make me gasp. There’s a lot of spelling mistakes and sentences that didn’t make sense so found myself making up my own. I loved the romance part on behalf of nico and the main character, that was cute!
The Honeymoon was twisty and had sickening characters. Every decision that was made, I would have made the opposite. I guess that is how to make your own life a psychological thriller! I was abashed at the turn of events after returning from the honeymoon. Gemma Rogers is a magician, the way she wove the plots over multiple settings and situations. I was a real fan of this page turner and can't wait to read all of her books!
The story starts with the unluckiest bride ever - Kelly, who catches her groom with her best friend on their wedding day! Devastated she hides his passport, and goes on Honeymoon alone. Just when she thinks her situation can’t get any worse, groom Ryan turns up - with more than a few unwanted secrets to share….
Great novel! Gripping, twisty, utterly fabulous!!
100%+ recommend!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
Wow what a book.
This is going to be my honest review , for some reason I did not have high hopes for this book , not sure why , but I was proved well wrong .
From chapter 1 I was gripped . It was intense, fast paced everything a psychological thriller should have .
I have downloaded all of this authors work. This author should be shouted from the roof tops as her writing is fantastic.
Secrets, lies, murder and drama. This story was a doozy.
A fast paced book that had me enraptured from page 1. Alot of unlikable characters but its why this book was so good. A definite recommend
Thanks netgalley and boldwood books. All thoughts and opinions are my own and isn't influenced by anyone else
I was looking forward to reading this one as I have recently read a novel by Gemma Rogers and was entertained. This novel did not disappoint. We meet Kelly, who catches her husband cheating at their wedding reception, follows their honeymoon and beyond to try to help Kelly uncover the truth of what her husband hasn't been telling her. The first line of the book got straight to the point to make the story engaging and continued to be engaging throughout. The twists and turns throughout were interesting and unique. The only things that were not enjoyable were some of the minor events that seemed a little implausible, and I had hoped for a stronger ending. I will look forward to my next Gemma Rogers read!

Kelly and Ryan just got married and have a fancy honeymoon planned overseas. Unfortunately, Kelly caught Ryan cheating AT her wedding with her best friend, Liza. Kelly hid Ryan’s passport and hoped to go on the honeymoon alone. She thought she was successful until he showed up. Kelly learns this was not the only secret Ryan had been keeping. She may now be in danger with no way to hide.
Betrayal, lies, and murder: this book takes you for a journey. Fast paced read especially at first, but I found myself getting so caught up in how stupid Kelly was.. going along with things like this was a “normal” situation. All 4 of the main characters really pissed me off and the last bit of the book dragged on for me.

I received this book from NetGalley.
The book starts off well, but almost immediately Kelly says that sometimes her husband drinks and gets angry and that's when she gets scared. So she knows this about him, recognises it and still gets married?!
I want to feel sorry for Kelly because she's having a rough time of things. I do feel sorry for her in a way, but she also allows herself to be manipulated constantly. She should have distanced herself on the honeymoon or gone home earlier. Instead she played house and got herself deeper into a mess. Now that they're home, she's still trying to protect Ryan and then gets herself into a mess.
I wish we could have had more of Kelly and Nico in London because he was a really good part of the story. But overall, not a bad book. Just so much that could have been avoided had Kelly thought things through a bit more and not been so trusting. Although she comes out on top in the end which is good.
My wedding was the perfect whirlwind of a day. The happiest I'd ever been. That was until I discovered my beloved husband, Ryan, tucked away in a compromising summer house clinch with Liza, his best friend's wife. Reeling with the ultimate betrayal, my world in freefall, with nowhere to turn, I flee my own wedding, unable to face anyone, not even my family. I just want to escape this nightmare. With our lights to our luxury honeymoon leaving in a matter of hours, could ten blissful days of Cretan Island life, minus my cheating husband help me figure out my future? It couldn't be that easy, could it?
What would you do if you found your best friend and husband in a compromising clinch on your wedding day? I think I would need to confront them there and then. But Kelly is more refined than me, she hotfoots it off on honeymoon on her own. But Ryan has a different plan, a couple of days later he flies out to Crete to join Kelly, and he brings a big surprise with him. Kelly's problems start at the wedding, then she slowly finds out Ryan has more than the affair that he was keeping a secret about. The twists and lies kept coming. This story has the perfect ending.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #GemmaRogers for my ARC of #TheHoneymoon in exchange for an honest review.
I did enjoy this book. It gets straight in to the storyline which I liked. I don’t know if I’d describe it as a “thriller” until maybe about 80% in. It’s got a little bit of everything in it - it’s like a chick-lit novel meets mystery. It held my attention well and was a nice, easy read. I think the front cover is slightly misleading - the line “murderer?” - I didn’t find this to be as relevant as I thought I would before I started the book but without spoiling too much I can understand why the author used it and it’s a good tactic for building intrigue.
The opening of this book will have you going "wtf did I just read". I was like wow, and didn't know where it was going to go from there. You will be rooting for the main character and thinking damn woman you are made of strong stuff. You will want to keep reading until the end, you will need to. Very engrossing, definitely a page turner.
Wow I was hooked on this! Very addictive and easy to read. A very gripping plot with plenty of twists along the way. Definitely not a predictable book.
I enjoyed the book upto and including the actual holiday but when she returned home I felt it all got a bit silly. As for her sister I’m pretty sure they would have made up in the end? I preferred the first half overall
I really enjoyed this book. It’s the first one that I’ve read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last. I was gripped from page 1 and then couldn’t put it down. The characters and plot were both very intriguing. I’d definitely recommend this book.
