Helen Phifer does it again!! Throughout every book in the detective Morgan Brooke’s series I am left wondering what is going to happen, even when I think I’ve guessed it I’m blown away. I absolutely love seeing how Morgan’s friendships within her team grow throughout the series and still this far in they have her back no matter what unfortunate situations she ends up in! This series is an instant read for me whenever a new book comes out and as always Helen never fails to disappoint.

Although this is a thriller series it really has become a comfort read (as weird as that may seem) because I feel like I know Morgan and with every book I read it’s like catching up with a friend and the shenanigans they get up to in their job and when the book ends i can’t wait to see what else she has been up to

man this one was a hard one to read... sometimes the subject matter just hits you harder

but it was great to catch up with morgan and the crew to see how they were all faring....

this one starts off with a murdered young girl... a popular girl who helped her mom at work and was hoping to do well back at college

when her body was found by a dog walker morgan and the rest of them started their investigation and it wasnt long before they had an idea this one was going to get bad.....

it was going to get a whole lot worse for morgan as well

gripping novel as always cant fault this author at all and look forward to reading the next book in this brilliant series

I literally did not have any idea who the killer could be with reading Two Broken Girls. That’s a good thing right? It meant I had to keep reading on and on to find out.
Morgan and her team find themselves in the midst of a very complex case. Will they be able to stop more murders happening? There is so much going against them as they try to discover the truth and solve the case.
Once again we have Morgan taking off on her own just a bit too much. She makes me cringe with the danger she puts herself in.
I have to say, the team is pulling together more and more. Even the one guy I truly did not like in previous books is mellowing a bit.
If you are looking for series with a bad ass woman detective, this is a series you should think about reading.
I highly recommend reading the complete series starting with the first book. There is so much backstory to the characters that is important to know about.
Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This book is addictive and brilliant. I was pulled in instantly and unwilling to put this down. Phifer is an author who gets better and better with every book. I already cannot wait to see what’s coming next from Phifer.

I do like this series, particularly as it is set in the Lake District, where I live, yet the local author does portray it quite accurately.
Although the different books are similar in what they are about, there is sufficient difference between them to make them very interesting to read, with some good twists. This one was a very good read, my only gripe being that I thought the ending was somewhat rushed. I'm probably being picky.
All books in this series can be read as standalone novels, but the reader will get more enjoyment from reading them as a series, as the relationships between the different police officers change and develop. This makes them a book of two parts; the interpersonal relationships, and the actual crimes committed, although they are interwoven well.

Mayhem swirls around Morgan and does that woman ever have the hardest head!
Something fishy is going down in Ryder Falls but the team is all over it.
A guy in a white car is the prime suspect but which one is he??
When Morgan finally makes the connection can she stop the villain?
Morgan should also not drive cars!! She alone is responsible for the insurance premium increases.
I was focused mostly on Cain in this book because of his huge near hugs. I’d take one!!

Another great crime thriller from Helen Phifer.
Morgan and Ben are called when a teenage girl is found dead by the river.
A passerby finds her body and is in deep shock at what he has seen.
Morgan knows the girl’s Mum and it breaks her heart to tell her that she’s lost her daughter.
Another teenage girl asks to speak to Morgan as she’s concerned about the man her Mum has been seeing, and tellls Morgan he could be the killer.
Morgan and the team carry out their investigations and things start to get complicated as a teenager is abducted, then released, a woman is killed and another teenager is missing.
It’s a running joke with the team that trouble always finds Morgan, and this book is no exception.
This is a gripping crime thriller that I’d highly recommend.

You'll just have to read to the end to find out who the killer is in this latest novel by Helen Phifer. Two Broken Girls (Detective Morgan Brooks Book 13 is the first book of the series I've read, and I thought it could standalone. I had no problems in bonding with Detective Morgan, Ben and the rest of the team. This psychological thriller gets four stars from me.
It centers around the strangulation of young Melody Carrick and the abduction of one, possibly two other young women.
I was a bit surprised by who the killer turns out to be, and I never really understood the motive or knew much about his character.
If like me, you're a fan of British mysteries, you'll love this twisty, intriguing novel.

Feels like yesterday when I first got to know Morgan Brookes in book 1, and here we are at book 13. What a ride it has been, and the roller coaster still keeps on giving us great rides! It is not always easy being Morgan, and she has a tricky case on her hands with not everyone at work being happy with her work. This book is twisty and fast-paced, and will not leave a reader who loves British police procedural thrillers feeling empty, the opposite actually.

Two Broken Girls by Helen Phifer is the thirteenth book of this excellent Detective Morgan Brookes and what an excellent book this was. All Helen's books have been a 5 star read and this latest book was no different. WoW, it was full of twists and turns throughout which made this book a great page turner from start to finish and I ended up hooked and stuck on my chair most of the day reading it. Before I knew it, it was dinner time for my dogs wanting their dinner!

Melody Carrick lifeless body was found murdered on the riverbank. Morgan and Ben are called to the scene and they need to work fast to find out who murdered her. This murder is too close to home, as Melody is the daughter of Jade, Morgans beloved coffee shop owner.

Then another girls goes missing. The clock is ticking and they need to find out where this missing teenager is before its too late!

Morgan and her team are working around the clock to solve the murder of Melody Carrick and hopefully not another murder of this missing teenager.

To make things more complicated for Morgan and her team, another teen accuses her mother's boyfriend of kidnapping her best friend.

The team is frantic and pulled in all directions.

WoW.......This book was excellent. You can easily read it as a standalone. 5 stars.

Helen's books are remarkable and I highly recommend all of these. Superb!

There were so many levels of crazy in this book, but in all the ways that thrill seeking readers like myself lap up. This is a complex mystery with many layers to peel back, which is something I have come to expect and appreciate from this author. Nothing is ever as it seems. So, if you think you have it figured out early only, you are probably going to be shocked to learn just how wrong you are.

The tension ratcheted up through each page as Detective Brookes and company search for a killer who likes to collect things. The pace of the story was perfect and flowed easily, which made reading this book in one evening an easy task. This is another terrific crime thriller to add to this compelling series that I am officially addicted to.

No matter how I'm feeling I know that I can get lost in this series even if it's only a few minutes, because this series never let's me down, it up there with some of my favorite series to read .

This is another incredible book in the Morgan Brookes series. I really love Helen Phifers writing and the entire series is very reminiscent of Angela Marsons and Lisa Regan.

It's always great coming back to a series where you know and love the characters. The plots are always full of twists and great detective work.

My only issue is that the plots get a little repetitive when bad things keep happening to the same people. But it doesn't detract from how easy reading these books are. I guess some characters are just unlucky.

Highly recommend to any crime lovers.

This is a one sitting book! A twist I never saw coming. I was up all night reading this, had to finish!!!!

Morgan wants to follow up on the lead but Ben isn't so keen., when Morgan takes a brand new pool car out, she ends up in a car accident but how and why? She doesn't get much luck does she? She also comes across another victim of their killer, but why has this girl been freed.??
This is one of my favourite series, highly recommend

I love this series and the main protagonist, Goth girl Morgan Brookes, she’s definitely not your average police detective! Her empathy for the victims of the crimes she’s tasked with solving, and their families sometimes drives her to go beyond the expected limits, which can put her in physical jeopardy, she seems to be a magnet for danger. In this latest installment her search for the killer of a young woman found dead in the forest near a riverside path is derailed by the report by another girl of a similar age claiming her friend had gone missing, and she suspected her mothers live in boyfriend. Brooke and her team need to split up to investigate both incidents, along with a third, an abduction. I enjoyed how the author wove the three stories together as Morgan and her team, headed by Ben, worked to find connections, the plot definitely kept me guessing. Cain’s character in particular adds a welcome touch of humor and warmth that isn’t always part of police procedurals, and I enjoyed seeing Marc grow, as well as Ben opening up more about his feelings.
If you’re a fan of British police procedurals this book and series will be right up your alley, and if you aren’t one yet this may turn you in to one. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance readers copy, and to author Helen Phifer for such an engaging addition to the series.

Good, unpredictable🚓🚑

This PC Morgan Brookes mystery had plenty of suspense and mystery, with deaths, disappearances and false leads fomented by a teen who really can't stand her mom's boyfriend Alan. Good action, too, as the police stumble around frustratingly unable to identify and catch the brutal killer. The first victim is the daughter of the friendly local cafe owner and was particularly taken with the way the police officers interacted with the incredulous, then devastated mother.

Morgan's personal life, and most specifically, her romantic relationship with Ben, her boss, I found less well covered. I certainly did not feel the burn or the passion. I did, however, like the small incremental steps their big boss Marc is taking to improve his connection with the detective team. It's one of the things I like about following a series: seeing the changed relationships and personal hurdles and happy developments for the returning characters.

We never really get to know this killer, even though the multi POV writing sometimes turns to their thoughts. By the story's end I just didn't feel I understood them or their motives.

Another great addition to the series. I can't believe we're on book 13 already. As usual, this book is packed full of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. I was anxious to see what trouble would find Morgan this time. I was kept guessing the whole way and the ending was as dramatic as ever.

My only gripe is I would love to see more of them working as a team. It sometimes feels like Morgan is the only one who can solve a crime and always seems to end up in danger. The team is so lovable. Cain & Amy have such a great friendship and their banter is hilarious. They always provide some much needed laughter. I look forward to seeing Amy cope with her situation.

This is book 13 in this series and while we've gotten to know Morgan and the rest of the police team a lot better the plot and the cases they are solving are all fresh and new.

Morgan Ben and the rest of the team have their work cut out in this one. After a young woman is found murdered and another is reported missing by her best friend a suspect is seemingly dropped in their lap. This guy definitely ticks all the boxes for the person of interest, but he's not the only one. With all the twists, turns, and red herrings, Morgan and her team are the only ones we can trust, and they are getting conflicting information.

I love seeing Morgan and Ben moving forward in their relationship, and I love seeing where the rest of the team is at, and as always the case kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

I can't wait to see where this series is going to go next, and what kind of case they are going to be solving!
