This book appealed to me because I love watching Lucy Jane Wood on YouTube. I listened to it on audiobook, and the narrator is fantastic. A cosy fantasy read, with lovely characters. The plot develops in a nice steady way and I felt drawn into it from very early on.

Belle has reached her 30th birthday and has to prove that she deserves to keep her witchy magic. It's got romance, found family and throughout the book there are the struggles with Belle's confidence and self worth.

Definitely recommend this.

Oh what a lovely surprising bit of delight this was!

Honestly just what I needed when I was walking home from work, perfect for this time of year.

This is a cosy, magical read that everyone will be familiar with. It feels very 90’s witch vibes, I can feel the inspiration from Practical Magic, Charmed and the humour of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

A nice breezy read, that isn’t exactly low stakes, but you know it’s going to be alright in the end.

I will say the third act felt rushed? Like the action kind of happened, but you blink and it seemed to be over already.

This book is perfect for this time of year and it's everything I wanted it to be!

The settings of a bookshop and a local cafe are amazing and wholesome and the relationship that Belle has with her friend is so heart-warming. I also liked how Belle is turning 30, which is quite an uncommon age to read about and it's nice hearing about people that age who haven't got everything figured out yet. This book is much more than a romance, and also has some great family bonds as well as found family with her best friend.

I really enjoyed the way the magic system works in this book and it seems almost like it could be real. I was enjoying seeing Belle learn more about her magic, and also develop relationships with a cute old man and, of course, the love interest of the book. I thought the balance between slice of life with cosy autumnal vibes and also a plot with fairly high stakes was perfect and kept me invested throughout as it progressed towards the climax.

I will definitely be picking up more books from Lucy Jane Wood in the future!

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan.

★★★☆☆

This book features a delightfully chaotic main character who keeps things interesting from start to finish. The story delivers a lovely message that resonates well, making it a heartwarming read overall.

The narrator was fantastic, especially with the variety of accents, which added depth and personality to the characters. While it didn’t blow me away, it was an enjoyable read with some charm, even if it lacked a bit of depth in certain areas.

- This was the perfect spooky read for autumn! I loved how the sisterhood and bond between mother and daughter and family all together took centre stage and the love interest, although I really enjoyed his character, wasn’t what the story was all about. The story is about sisterhood, about discovering yourself and it has all the 90’s vibes that made my millenial heart go pitter patter. I absolutely loved loved this book and listening to the audiobook was a very pleasant experience. The voice of the narrator fitted the story perfectly.

I rated it 4,5 ✨

A cozy fantasy perfect for book lovers, uncertain millennials, and those seeking Autumn vibes.

Bella works in a bookshop in London and stays clear of anything magical unless it’s small spells to clean up the books and make cups of tea.
Then, she fails a trail to keep her magic and is given until the end of October to change the Coven’s minds, by undergoing a series of magical trials or risk losing her magic forever.

Overall, this is a tale of self-love. It is okay not to have a set plan for yourself. To be scared to planning for your future. To find joy in your friends and connections!

I just feel like I have read this story before with different characters and different scenes. I loved the message, but it wasn’t anything new, albeit touching!

I did love the audiobook as the accents made me reminisce of my time in London braving the blustering winds.

Similar book recommendation - Threadneedle by Cari Thomas.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio for providing me the arc in exchange for a review!

The author said in the interview at the end of the audiobook that she wanted to make sure Rewitched had the wrapped in a blanket cosy fantasy feeling, and it absolutely delivered.

Belle Blackthorn is tired. She’s happy…ish. She has people who love her. But that spark of magical potential that shone so brightly when she was younger has slowly gone out as she’s settled into the realities of adult life. She needs to pay the bills after all, but her magic is useful for keeping on top of chores at least. With her 30th birthday approaching a tall, handsome stranger appears at her workplace to tell her she’s been summoned to be evaluated on whether she’s utilising her magic in an ‘acceptable’ way, and what unfolds is a heart-warming mystery full of just the right amount of stakes without disrupting the cosy vibes.

I found Belle so relatable as a character - that perceived loss of potential we feel as we get older and accept the roles life has in store for us, looking back and wondering why she let other people’s opinions hold her back.
The found family was immaculate. I absolutely adored the whole cast of characters and wouldn’t change anything about them. How can you not love this wonderful bunch of misfits?

Seeing Belle take hold of her own destiny and fight to keep the magic that she remembers being so important to her was beautiful, and I loved the character development we saw as the story progressed.

The narrator was amazing and really helped bring the story to life. I could tell immediately who each character was by their speech and mannerisms, and would absolutely seek out more books narrated by her in the future.

I’ve watched Lucy’s videos for years, and I was so excited when I heard she was writing a cosy fantasy. I was not disappointed, and would highly recommend Rewitched to anyone who loves cosy fantasy, 90s vibes, and who remembers the magic of anything seeming to be possible.

The writing is this book is very disjointed-the story is excellent and characterisation is good but then the names of characters are Belladonna Blackthorne (eyeroll) and people without magical abilities are rather simply called non-witchy?! It feels a bit like a general “overcome your own fears to thrive” story but glued onto a story about witches because it’s that time of year and they’re in fashion right now?! Anyway Belle is a witch who only uses her powers for locking doors without leaving her bed and keeping books shelved in the shop she works in. On her 30th birthday as is witchy tradition she is called to a hearing to judge whether she has used her powers for good enough causes so they go through some memories of times she actually performed magic and decide that no, she hasn’t really, she’s wasted her powers. So they partner her up with an eccentric old warlock who allegedly murdered his brother (and also doesn’t have his full powers after the murdering!!). Why an outcast member of their society was tasked with mentoring a witch about to lose her powers is unclear (it is explained but doesn’t really make sense).
Somebody is tampering with her magic from a distance so she decides to stop trying to get her magic licence as it’s too dangerous. Everybody around her tells her she’s amazing but nah she’s had enough.

Another reminder about how loved she is and how happy she could be

Third act reveal! 😑

Also there’s a romance subplot that seems even more shoehorned in than the magic storyline including an accidental magic drugging.

I quite liked the narration, it makes a change to have a regional accent! The differentiation between characters was really good.

Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood offers a delightful, cozy dive into a world of rediscovered magic and charm.
With a 90’s vibe, I instantly connected with the main character’s journey of self-discovery, especially her relatable insecurities and quirky humor.
The story itself was a refreshing spin on the witchy books we normally read.
Lucys writing is filled with warmth, making the magical realism feel grounded and inviting.

What really took the experience to the next level was the audio narration - the narrator's voice perfectly captured the protagonist's whimsical nature, bringing a lively and immersive quality to the story. Congratulations Evie Hargreaves on an outstanding performance.
If you’re in the mood for something light and comforting, this book and its audio companion are absolute must-reads!

Huge thank you again to Macmillan audio, Macmillan and Lucy Jane Wood for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 / 5

I really loved what I read of this book on audio so I do highly recommend reading it that way if you prefer audiobooks!!

this cover drew me in and boy did it deliver on the cozy fantasy vibes! I really enjoyed this book. I loved the cozy bookshop setting and the dynamic between rune and belle. I just think the witchy/coven aspect was slightly convulted to me, it didn't hook me like I really thought it would and I found myself skimming at times. However, I did enjoy my time reading this book/

Thank you for the opportunity to listen to Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood.

It was a breezy read about a girl who never really utilizes her witchy potential until it is almost about to be taken away from her, There is some message there isn't it? When we all second guess ourselves instead of having faith in our abilities.

Well, it was not a bad read at all. In fact, I quite enjoyed this light hearted offering. You could as well.

I didn’t realise how badly I needed to be warmly and gently welcomed into witchy, soothing autumn but Rewitched has done it with joy and whimsy.

Loved this story, the quirk and the journey. Bell is so relatable and I love the cadence of the author’s storytelling voice.

First of all, Belladonna Blackthorn is such a perfect, witchy name.
Now, Bella uses magic in her everyday life, but she keeps her magic hidden from non-magic types (let be fair, history has taught us that non-magic types, don't always take well to witches!). But despite keeping her magic simple, she is fairly content with her life - she has good friends and a job that she loves - working in a small bookshop. Though, the son of the owner has some ridiculous plans for the future of the bookshop that could damage its uniqueness.
And then, life takes a dramatic turn when Bella receives an invite (read summons), to her Coven trial - and if she fails, then she will loose for magic forever.
Bella has one month to prove herself worthy of her magic and kearm all of the skills that she has previously ignored. And it's not long before Bella realises that some dark, dangerous forces are rising against her and she will have to fight for herself and her Coven.
The storyline moved fairly quickly from meeting Bella to the discovery of her upcoming trial, and she had to learn how to trust her instincts.
I enjoyed the fact that Bella, at 30, is a little older than the protoganist in many witchy novels, and her work struggles, made her seem more likeable and also relatable.
I was fortunate enough to enjoy this both as an ebook and audiobook
The narrator, Evie Hargreaves, does a wonderful job of bringing Bella and the other characters to life. Imbuing Bella with the self-doubting tone that we expect from the narrative, but also showing her growing in strength as the novel progresses.
Along with being a witchy story, there are plenty of comedic moments and of course, the slow-burn romance is great fun.

This was an absolute delight ?

Ok starting it I had thought this was going to be a romance and I am honestly very picky about those. But this was such a pleasant surprise!

We follow Belle that, like a lot of us, is made to realize at 30 that she has not used her gifts (magic ) to its full potential and risks losing her magic forever.

This book has such a delightful cast of characters whom I all adore (including a cat familiar ofc ) , an engaging plot that keeps preventing me from putting it down, an absolutely adorable romance that’s just perfect and slow! And most importantly: magic!

This was a very surprising 5 star for me but I loved the writing, I loved the narration, the plot and the character and even, shockingly, the romance!

I can’t wait for the sequel !

This is such a hug in a book. I loved Rewitched so much I wished I could have listened to it in one sitting. The FMC is so relatable and lovely to hear about, although some of her decision making is questionable. Her cat is absolutely adorable 🥰 and she literally has a dream job in a bookshop so this makes up for silly decisions. The narrator does such a great job of bringing her to life.
It is cozy fantasy but there is definitely mild peril that keeps the pace and excitement up. I loved the whole plot and reveals.
The found family is one of my favourite tropes and done so well here.
I highly recommend this for the cozy witchy fantasy lovers out there who want a nice easy read that’s exciting too.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

I really couldn’t get into this- i was bored from start to finish. The premise was really cool but almost everything fell flat for me, the characters felt underdeveloped with little to no character depth, and there was so much beating around the bush with the plot that i kept losing it 😭 a shame, i really wanted to love this one

I nearly DNF'd Rewitched so many times before the 50% mark. It was so slow paced and nothing was happening. The second half of the book saved this from getting one star.

Wish the romance and the central conflict were ramped up sooner.

I thought the characters could have benefitted from more depth and the story needed stronger plot points in the first half.

I was drawn in by Rewitched’s cover, which reminded me of 90’s shows like Sabrina. It almost felt like it had been written for millennials as a nostalgic reminiscence of that period. I loved that Bella is in her 30’s, and her struggle with her loss of purpose and spark, told through her relationship with magic, was so relatable. The author did a wonderful job of capturing adjustment, identify, grief and loss while maintaining such a cosy and comfortable read.

I loved the found family vibes, and the character focus throughout the story. The story was perfectly paced, and the world building was immersive without being overly complex.

I was lucky to enjoy this both as an ebook and audiobook. The narrator was brilliant and I loved the way she drew out the characters via different accents and affectations. She brought a vibrancy to an already wholesome and cheery story which made it such a delight to listen to.

A great read for anyone looking for Gilmore Girls, Sabrina, or cosy autumn vibes.

Thank you MacMillan UK Audio and NetGalley for this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

This is such a cozy fantasy book that it made my September TBR so better. The journey of our protagonist, finding herself again with the magic that lies in her and the different elements of her magical world is beautiful.
Our protagonist has turned 30 and she needs to give a test to prove whether she is worthy to keep her power still in herself or not.
This is a debut novel yet the author has penned the characters so well that even as a reader, I felt I had slipped into the book and was living all those moments mentioned in the book.
I enjoyed reading this book to the core.

I absolutely love this book. It is a perfect cosy witchy Autumn book. I've got the Waterstones special edition pre-ordered and it's one of those books I will be reading on a cosy autumn night each year.

The plot is fast paced and fun. A cast of fun side characters and the perfect villains. Belle has so much self-development through the book. A bonus that part of the book is based in a bookshop!

The narrator was good but I think I will enjoy reading the physical copy more.

I've got nothing bad to say. Love it!
