Thank you Netgalley & Bookouture for an eARC of Everyone Has Secrets by AJ McDine. I love AJ’s books, they are always easy to binge!
Eve and her best friend Lisa have two teenage children - And the best news is that they’re good friends, too. What begins as a 16th birthday party turns into the unthinkable when Lisa’s daughter, Annie, is found struggling to breathe on the floor. What happened to her? Will she be OK? And what does this mean for their friendship? How well do they know their children?
I thought this one was going to be predictable, but it wasn’t - Went in a completely different direction than I expected and gets very dark! A tough read/listen with children, but teaches very important lessons nonetheless.

An addictive domestic psychological thriller! 🔥
McDine has delivered another excellent read, with secrets and lies at its core, that had me guessing throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed this read!
Eve is always laughing with her husband and their sixteen-year-old-son. Her best friend Lisa and her teenage daughter Annie live in a cottage right across the street. Everything is perfect… Until one night something unthinkable happens. Annie is found on the floor of Eve’s kitchen struggling to breathe. As the police cars shatter the quiet streets, everyone is looking at the Griffiths family for answers. With Annie’s life hanging in the balance, Eve is determined to find out what happened. But as she gets closer to the truth, she begins to question who she can really trust. Because someone is lying to her – is it her best friend, her husband or her son? After all, we all have secrets. But how many of us would kill to keep them?
I was instantly intrigued with the prologue and as I turned each page, I became even more hooked with the story. This book presented a nightmare situation and I loved how it was all told from Eve’s POV.
I had no idea who to believe throughout and this made me wary of all the characters. All of the lies with no compunction had me questioning everyone and I really enjoyed this.
I love the idea of never knowing who you really can trust, including those closest to you, and McDine really grappled with this to formulate an incredibly engaging read.
I loved the sense of an unknown undercurrent reverberating throughout and I couldn’t wait to find out what it was. Just when I thought it was all revealed, this book continues its journey to an unexpected point.
And that epilogue! Very clever and very unpredictable!
A huge thank you to @ajmcdineauthor, Netgalley and @bookouture for this ARC of Everyone Has Secrets which is published today and is also available on Kindle Unlimited. 💙

Rating is closer to a 2.5 rather than a true 3 stars.
This book was…. okay. It didn’t pull me in during the beginning, but as it went on I felt like the plot was dragging on.
Plot was a little predictable, but not overly so. There were definitely a few cringy and questionable moments from the characters, especially the main POV.
Overall, I think this would be a quick (maybe?), easy read.
Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for a copy of this ARC.
"Everyone Has Secrets" by A.J. McDine is a 4-star thriller! Eve dreams of having the perfect family, but her world is turned upside down when she discovers that someone close to her is hiding secrets. Is it her son, Joe, or her husband, Noah? As she digs deeper, she uncovers truths that are far more shocking than she ever imagined.
While the story has a compelling premise, the pacing is quite slow at times, and I found myself frustrated with Eve’s frequent pity parties. However, the intriguing concept kept me reading, and I’m glad I stuck with it. The twists weren’t particularly surprising, and I felt the prologue was unnecessary—it would have been better to end the book after the final numbered chapter.
That said, I would still recommend this book to others and am excited to see what A.J. McDine writes next!
Thanks to Bookouture, A J McDine, and NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.

Big thanks to Bookouture for a copy on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Everyone Has Secrets is an intriguing family drama and as the title says the characters have secrets.
An evening tragedy changes the lives of many, forever…..
Noah and Eve and their teenage son, Joe live a relatively normal life.
Eve is a maths teacher at a prestigious girls school, Noah owns his own recruitment business and Joe is getting ready for exams.
They live in a beautiful renovated church home in a quiet neighbourhood.
Joe is about to turn 16 and wants a few friends over to celebrate.
So Eve and Noah join best friend Lisa across the road to give them some space.
A few hours later, a distressed phone call states there’s been an accident.
Someone is on the floor fighting for their life…..
A suburban melodrama with a cast of suspects, a set of colourful secrets, a skelton in many closets, a twisted mystery and that unexpected ending.
Who is lying and who is telling the truth in this satisfying and entertaining well thought out tale.
I especially enjoy the multiple narrators in this story felt it really set it apart and kept me invested in the story. Although parts were a little far-fetched it was exciting hearing all the secrets or the neighbours held. I like how it came together and was completely invested with all the twist and turns that occurred..
Oooooh this story was great! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, I couldn't put it down!!!
Loved this book. It had me turning the pages into the night. It was actually an emotional read. It has an unpredictable ending which is something I love in a book. This author is going to be on my auto buy list. Loved it.
I absolutely adored this wonderful book packed with twists. Loved it from start to finish. One of my top reads this year. Do read this one - I very highly recommend it.
I'm a huge fan of A.J. McDine. This book didn't disappoint. Be ready for a Rollercoaster ride of twists and turns.

Everyone has Secrets is medium paced, psychological domestic thriller from A J Mcdine. I've recently found A J McDine and I really enjoy her writing style. Everyone has Secrets has you trying to figure out who's lying, who's telling the truth, only to have everything turned on its head. If you like twisty, domestic thrillers, this is a great read!
Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for this eArc
4.5 stars, rounded up to 5
Another thriller that has me shocked! I never saw the ending coming and I can always appreciate that in a thriller! I look forward to reading more by this author!
This audiobook gripped me from the beginning. It throws you right into the story and continues the steady pace throughout although at times I did wish it would up the pace somewhat but maybe that was the point to build the suspense. There are many characters to get to grips with and many the revelation. The narration was engaging and added to the story. It all came together well. Enjoyed this one.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen and review #EveryoneHasSecrets
This had me gripped from tge blurb. The short chapters kept my attention. The multiple reveal of secrets from multiple characters means this requires great concentration. The premise of hiw far would a parent go to protect their child when lines become blurd is the hook. A lot of complex issues are dealt with a careful realistic way. . The pov style reinforced the quality of the writing. The final epilogue gave me chills and the hope for a sequel. It was engrossing and captivating full of misdirection. This is highly recommended but be warned the perfect writing and realism may start to make sone of those news stories seem nore real. Thank you netgallery and publisher and author
This is the second book I've read from this author. The Photo was fantastic, Everyone Has Secrets was just ok. I didn't feel any kind of connection to the characters and didn't have much sympathy for them. It was pretty obvious who gave the drugs and why. There was no real surprise to this story and for that I found it to be just ok. Short chapters are always appreciated.
This was fun. I usually like psychological thrillers and this one was no exception. The characters are relatable and realistic enough, some of them are likable others not so much, but I did like everyone. There are multiple plot twists, which is a nice treat. I particularly like when a thriller has more than one twist, it gives the book a nice pacing and it is more entertaining.
Personally, I've enjoyed this author's previous book, The Photo, more than this one. But I definitely recommend this book to anyone who has read a book by this author before, as well as to anyone who enjoys domestic and psychological thrillers with flawed - but realistic - characters.
Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for providing me with a free eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Who doesn’t love a good psychological thriller & this book really ticked all the boxes for me.
This author is a particular favourite of mine her stories are so easy to get into & always leaves you wanting more.
So well written & easy to follow she draws you in with her ingenious plots.
Fast paced from beginning to end she takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride you can’t put the book down.
So many twists you won’t see coming as you keep turning the pages determined to get to the bottom of the story.
The suspense is all consuming & it carries you through to the very end.
The story is set in a beautiful village called South Langley .The Griffiths family are lucky to have one of the loveliest homes there.
Eve lives with her wonderful husband Noah & their son Joe.
Joe is turning sixteen & he has asked his parents if he can have a party with just a few friends.
Eve has mixed emotions about this but does agree in the end as deep down she knows her son is sensible.
Imagine their horror as they get the dreaded phone call to come home quick.
Every parents worse nightmare.
Congratulations to A J McDine on another fantastic book.

This book was filled with lies and twists! I was hooked from the first chapter.
A peaceful neighborhood is shattered when 15 yr old Annie is found unresponsive at Eve's home. Eve's son was celebrating his 16th birthday when Eve suffered an overdose The neighborhood instantly blames Eve for the incident and she must uncover the truth before her son is convicted.
