A warm, cozy and pleasant reading, perfect for the Christmas time.
I loved the carachters, absolutely charming and very likeable..
The plot is very simplel, to be honest but lovely nonetheless.
The tone of this book is darker than I expected based on the cute holiday cover. DNF.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.
A scrumptious, heartwarming Christmas story! The characters in this story are written so well - I just want everyone to be happy! Fallon, the main character, is stretching herself thin with her event planning business. I found her to be a really relatable character for me personally - not knowing when to take a breather, stressing herself out to the point of migraines, grappling with not wanting to be a mother, but having a fondness for children!
I was a bit annoyed with the conflict in the story, but I understand the need for it. The only thing that could've made this reading experience more enjoyable would've been a cup of hot cocoa while being bundled up next to a toasty fireplace, while watching the snow fall outside.
A Christmas with the Knights by Hannah Langdon had potential but missed the mark for me. Fallon, a super successful event planner on the edge of burnout, is constantly berated by her toxic mother, yet never stands up for herself, which felt frustrating. Encouraged by her friend Sam to take some time off, she ends up at her mother’s new boyfriend’s estate. Here, Fallon meets Alexander and his son Theo. Unfortunately, the romance between Alexander and Fallon lacked the chemistry and tension I was hoping for. Instead of getting the rest she desperately needed, Fallon ends up taking on two jobs almost immediately, which made the story feel unrealistic.
While the book had its moments, it ultimately didn’t work for me. It has potential for others, but I couldn’t connect with it.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I didn't have hugely high expectations for this and ended up being pleasantly surprised. The main character is heading to a work burnout (something I can relate to from my own job) and ends up joining her overbearing mother for a Christmas getaway at the country home of her mother's new boyfriend.
I loved Fallon and the romance grew really nicely and didn't feel forced as a plot point. The supporting cast were lovely and managed to give a good amount of interest and support vs criticism of Fallon which felt a lot more natural than other Christmas-themed romances tend to have. Good characterisation (including a donkey) and an inability to let work go (which I can also relate to) which was written really well. Would recommend if cute and believable romances are your vibe!
Needing a break from work, Fallon decides to spend Christmas with her mom and the Knights. There she finds her groove not only in love but in work life balance. loved everything about this book! Could not get enough and wanted more.
What a fabulous, feel good, Christmas story. Really authentic characters and a story of love and fullfillment, with a very apprpriate conclusion.. I loved it!!
Well….if you are a big fan of Hallmark Christmas movies, this book is for you.
The story is more about family drama than romance, but the romance between Fallon and Alexander is pretty sweet. I had some problems with relating to the FMC, but that is more a me problem I think. The story was very predictable but still had enjoyable moments.
It wasn't very bad, but not the best either. If you just like a simple holiday-themed book with Hallmark vibes, this will be a nice one for you.
Fallon Honeywood living in London and busy running her own company in events planning has reached burnout. Fallon hasn’t the best relationship with her mother, an actor in a long running soap opera. It’s approaching Christmas so Fallon accepts an invitation to spend the festive holiday at her mother’s boyfriend’s house.
Fallon just needs a break to rest and recharge. Will she get it?
What an absolutely lovely festive Christmas story. I totally warmed to all of the characters, not forgetting Runciple the dog.
It was a great book that I was totally absorbed in, a switch off from everything and relax into book.
I would happily spend my Christmas with the Knight family, enjoying my G&T’s!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.
I adored this author's last holiday romance so I was excited to read this one! It didn't hit that same sweet spot for me but it was still very atmospheric. I just found Fallon a bit over the top in her self-aggrandizing that she missed out on enjoying herself at times but I understand her hesitation. I wish there was a bit more than just party after party but it made sense in a way. Add to your holiday TBR!!
Christmas With the Knights comes out next week on October 24, 2024 and you can purchase HERE.
The party sparkled with Christmas magic, even this early in the season, and I looked around with satisfaction at the results of our hard - sometimes gruelling - work over the past few weeks. Although there were some big events still to come for my company, this was the biggest, held in the opulent Dome of the Victoria and Albert Museum and attended by major influencers as well as stars of fashion and TV. Even my mother was there, although of course she had been far too busy being fabulous to spare the time to speak to me, the lowly events organiser. But there was nothing lowly about this event. The space was staggeringly beautiful, with its high ceiling, gallery and marble floor and columns, not to mention the extravagant glass Chihuly chandelier which hung centrally.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I loved reading Christmas with the Knights by Hannah Langdon.
Fallon works really hard running her own company, and she’s so near to burnout. Her colleague persuaded her to
take time out and relax.
So, she agrees to go with her soap opera mother to Yorkshire where her boyfriend lives. Fallon is going to use the time away from her business to heal her relationship with her mother as well as to get to know the boyfriends family.
There is so much going on in the story with some cute moments as well as lots of fun.
I highly recommend this book.
A Christmas book that started off charming and cozy but ending up a little stiff and dull.
Fallon is a very successful event planner and while she is very driven, she also never takes time for herself which leads her to become exhausted. Her mother suggests she spends Christmas away from the city with her and her new boyfriend, Douglas, his son, Alexander, and his grandson Theo to rest and relax. When they get to the estate, Fallon meets the adorable Theo and strikes up a cute friendship with the young boy but also has an attraction toward his dad, Alexander. The story progresses through all the events leading up to the nativity event in the town and eventually Christmas. Unfortunately this book didn't pack any punches and I struggled to keep reading.
First off, Fallon's mother was insufferable and although Fallon kept saying she knew how to deal with her narcissistic mother, she in fact did not, and became a doormat. Her mother threw insults at her and she just took them, she exploited her for her own good and Fallon didn't fight her on anything, just kept saying “yes” to appease her mother. It was infuriating. Then at the end, the mother says she loves her and wants to try and be better and Fallon just accepts it, Crazy! I would have liked to have her show small steps to repair the relationship before they had a heart to heart. It was very sudden and out of left field. It was not Christmas magic. The mother was overdone and so in your face with backhanded insults it was rough. I typically don't mind unsavory characters because they are there to establish why the MC is the way she is or to drive the plot forward but this did neither.
Secondly the romance between Fallon and Alexander was mild and timid. It was very forced and didn't showcase any building tension between the two. No anticipation tingles at all. I barely realized they had their first kiss because it was so anticlimactic. The best relationship in the book was between Theo and the dog.
Third, Fallon's attitude and inter struggles were so annoying. The whole “Woe is me” attitude got old really fast. Fallon was a busy and career driven people pleaser who didn't take time for herself, hence the trip away to rest and relax. Unfortunately, she didn’t solve any of her issues of overworking herself because she didn’t get any rest on vacation and started jumping in and volunteering, or being volunteered by her mother, to help with events around the holiday. She showed no growth and barely even was self aware. She did herself no favors. I would have liked her to grow a backbone and set boundaries but she just kept taking on new tasks.
I really wanted to like this book but overall I couldn't relate to the characters and the story stalled for me. This was not my cuppa coffee.

Christmas With The Knights - Hannah Langdon
Genre: Holiday Romance
A cold English winter, a sprawling house, the Lord and his son and grandson - could this be the perfect cure for Hannah Langdon’s Fallon in Christmas with the Knights? Fallon is exhausted; she has allowed her demanding event planning business to exhaust her. The doctor prescribes rest, away from work. While she’s not sure that spending Christmas with her ummm… difficult mother the soap opera star at her boyfriend’s country estate, she finds herself there. Along with Runcible - her goofy loving dog, Fallon begins to relax into Christmas and all the events that come along with it. Along with renewed peace…will she find love?
Is that even a fair question for a Christmas rom com? But Fallon is perhaps a bit more complex than other romantic heroines. She had a somewhat isolated childhood and while she has maintained a relationship with her distant mother, she fears that she doesn’t have the kind of example she needs to look forward to motherhood herself. So she remains wary of relationships. Instead (much like her mother, uh oh!) she buries herself in her work. Even on holiday she finds herself taking on small event jobs. Will she ever relax? And even if Alexander the Lord’s Son is gorgeous, and his son inexplicable drawn to her, should Fallon risk involvement. These are not easy questions. She receives lovely help and support from the people around her. New friends - who will be part of her family when her mom marries and old friends - Sam and Talitha from work. Her dog is her rock. And English countryside Christmas abounds…if ever magic was going to happen.
What a delightful read! I just really resonated with Fallon. (Like me, she could probably benefit from Kendra Adachi’s The PLAN - in terms of being more compassionate with herself!) I like that her changes came slowly - and believably. Christmas in England always seems extra lovely to me. She creates an inspirational setting filled with English treats and traditions that had me googling recipes. Take a minute from your busy holiday season and enjoy Hannah Langdon’s Christmas With The Knights.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday read by Hannah Langdon! My favorite of her books so far.
*I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I have come to the conclusion that Hannah Langdon likes Christmas and cute dogs after now reading three of her books. They tend to be gentle romantic novels that are quick and easy to read books. There have been a lot of books written in the last year with a Christmas theme that I have had the pleasure of reading and they certainly get me longing for the build up to Christmas to start. Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.
It is a really enjoyable, feel-good Christmas story in a beautiful setting and with very likeable characters. I especially liked the description of how the dinamics changed between mother and daughter. I was glad to see that there was more than one happy ending to the story.
It felt cosy and warm to live through the eyes of Fallon in Yorkshire during the Christmas time. This is such a cute book for the holiday season, the characters are so supportive and kind. Her mom did wind me up more than once and I struggled a bit with her comments, but the change in their relationship was nice to see. I absolutely adored how good she was with Theo, they seemed to make a nice little dream team!
3.5 🌟
This book is really cute and really puts you in a Christmas vibes. It was nice and cozy but it was a bit too slow paced for me. I really like an intense romance kind of thing but overall a very nice book!
A big thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me this book in exchange for an honest review. A feel-good, festive story to savor on a cold night with a cup of hot chocolate. It was easy to relax and enjoy (and cheer on) every single character in this book. It was at the same time heart-warming, funny, and yet emotionally deep. I loved watching the character growth in Fallon and her mother. My only desire at the end was to see more romance between Fallon and Alexander. That’s not saying that there was any lack but I just didn’t want to stop reading about them. I recommend picking this up during this upcoming holiday season (or anytime you wish to feel the holiday cheer).
Professional event planner, Fallon Honeywood (daughter of famed soap star Jacqueline Honeywood) finds herself needing a break for R&R at the holiday season. Her mother nearly drags her along to meet her new boyfriend and stay at Blakeney Hall - all the way in the moors of Yorkshire. Filled with dread, she's not sure if she can tolerate it.
As she gets to know the Knight family, she realizes she's enjoying her time. She even volunteers to help Alexander launch his new business with small batch gin. It doesn't hurt that he's devastatingly handsome, and has an adorable but sensitive son, Theo. However, Theo's made a connection with her despite her lack of motherly instincts.
Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Hannah Langdon for the eARC.
