I really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait for more. The characters of Winnie and Alaric were well written, and I enjoyed how they reacted to each other. I loved the story line and the way it was plotted out. All the chaos and interesting additional characters made for a good read. I think the author did a great job on this book.

DNF AT 50%

I am really sorry to DNF this book, because I was so ready for it! I was in the right mood for something that was mostly romance and fun. And this sounded like the perfect choice!
I was laughing out loud even before starting to read the book properly because the reference to Geralt of Rivia cracked me up. So I was in the best mood possible but... mostly, the characters didn't really work for me.
Alaric and Winnie are two adults (one more than the other, since one of them is a vampire with some centuries behind him) but they behave like horny and angsty teenagers. So... I don't have the patience for this.
They kiss at the beginning of the book because Alaric kisses Winnie to "save" her from a bad situation (I am not convinced that the kiss was the best option here, I mean, sure if you are teenagers, but between adults? Nope! But here I was ready to close an eye) and that's it. All they can think about is that kiss. Like horny teenagers. It was annoying.
And Alaric has this whole "woe is me" attitude that I hate with a passion. And Winnie has a dromat personality, and sure, I am sorry for her (and there is a scene in which she finally stands up for herself and it was glorious) but really... most of the time was pretty annoying, especially all her doubt about Alaric. That, once again, reminded me of an angsty teenager. I mean, I get some doubts, and I totally support them when we are talking about serious commitment but... just for a shag? Come on!!! They were simply too much and I can't.

That said, there were some good things in this book too. The Book Coven is one, at least up to a point, and the mental health rep in there is amazingly well developed. This is a big thing. Because 1) Winnie's mother is a hoarder and we get to see an interesting depiction of it, and 2) we see how Winnie deals with it. We have a good rep of how mental health problems reflect on the family. It is not a theme that is exploited a lot, and it is a bit of a shame because it is interesting and it is also an important rep to have. And the author here does an amazing job talking about what is the impact of being the daughter of a mother with mental health problems. The trauma of it. And in this respect, I really think that this book does an amazing job.

Sadly, I couldn't deal with the characters anymore.

Thank you for the ARC of Fangs for Nothing.

This books is about a quirky vampire and a semi-up tight organizer, helping him get his estate ready for a ball. This was a fun and fast paced books, with loveavle side characters, that I wanted more of!!!

I would recommend this book for fans of Laurie Gilmore and Tessa Bailey!

This was a fun read! And it takes place in the UK, so it has that British touch that I so love.

What I liked:

- The texts at the beginning of each chapter were a nice touch. 😊

- Relatable and funny MFC. 🩷 (She wanted to be an archeologist growing up! SO DID I! 😍)

- Honest POV about mental illness (Winnie's mom is a hoarder and Winnie is OCD) 🗣️

- The comedy. I found myself laughing out loud several times while reading. 😂 If I laugh out loud several times, I know it's going to be a banger.

A few nitpicks:

- This is very slow paced. It took me longer than I anticipated to finish this. It wouldn't hold my attention for long before I got bored reading and had to take a break, sometimes for days. This book could have easily lost at least 200 pages of scenes that didn't move the romance forward.

- Alaric has been alive for way too long to not keep up with the era he's currently in. I know the author was probably going for a cute, goofy personality for him, but Alaric barely knowing anything about the time he's in was just odd to me. And not cute.

Overall, this is a sweet and wholesome (and sexy!) vampire MMC/human MFC supernatural romance with fake dating. It does drag but it picks up later (when the fake dating begins!)

Note: I received a free copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this book from the minute I read the synopsis and I am so glad it ticked every box once read! A brilliant vampire romance / murder mystery and omg the spice between Alaric and Winnie was sizzling (and I liked that you didnt have to wait until the end of the book to see their 'connection'! Winnie is employed by Alaric to tidy his castle before a ball but doesn't realise he is a vampire. Alaric declares his mother is coming to visit and enlists Winnie to be a pretend fiance to get his mum off his back which she agrees to do and thus unravels everything. I love the delicate way Holmes has written and incorporated mental health struggles and feel it was executed really well. I didn't feel the book was too long (500+ pages) and loved the input from the smutty book clubs!

I really enjoyed reading this and the epilogue has left me hanging! I can't wait for the next book and will be looking into reading other books in the Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries!

I!! Need!! More!! I would also want an ancient vampire to fall in love with me!! Thank you to NetGalley and publishing for the opportunity to read this.
It is my first time reading anything by Steffanie Holmes so I am pleasantly surprised. I can’t wait to read more from them.
Review: Amazing! If you need a cozy read for the chilly weather I definitely recommend reading this! It has a lil bit of everything, romance, slight banter, VAMPIRES!!!

Maybe my fault for not doing more research before requesting, but this book is 100% up my alley and fell so far short of what I hoped it would be. *cries* it is nearly 600 pages and after about 100 I didn’t feel hooked or have much desire to continue. I’ve still got it on my kindle so if the mood is right I’ll pick it back up in the future.

This was a very entertaining read. I really enjoyed Winnie and Alaric together but also all of the chaos and side characters the ensued. I look forward to reading more in The Nevermore Murder Club and Smutty Book Cub series.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

This was a BLAST! Usually Vampires books have to be done a certain way for me to enjoy them, but this was so much fun and unique! The vibes were amazing and the romance piece was just enough!

As an OG Twilight fan, I often find vampire novels to be a bit overdone or cringy. However, I was delighted by Fangs for Nothing. The humour, the romance, the friendships, and the plot all kept me intrigued until the very end. I would love a sequel!

A cutesy, vampiric novel that begins with a mystery of is he or isn’t he a vampire. A hoarder vampire at that. Lord Alaric lives in a large, antique castle. He hires Winnie to come stay at his place to help him clean up for an event being held at his place. But, when she attends a book club with a few other locals, they place the idea that Alaric is a vampire and could be the one responsible for a few deaths in town.

A spooky cute romance that is perfect to nestle with in front of a fire. This is one book I will not stop recommending to readers because after picking it up, I could NOT set it down until I reached the end. Ugh. It was just so damn good!

Thank you NetGalley, Bacchanalia House and Steffanie Holmes for an Advanced readers copy in exchange of an honest review.

This book had so much potential I'm angry. It starts of so well, Winnie's character at the start was so interest, but as the book went on (and it went on for longer than it should have) slowly started to lose it's initial spark. Same with Alaric (Allie) and the Nevermore Book Club, which at the end really didn't have as much scenes as the premise suggested. This book could have been 200 pages less, with many extra scenes cut and it would have been better, along with the never-ending number of characters that were introduced along the way.

The writing style didn't evoke anything to me, but I did find hilarious the way Alaric reacted to modern technology and inventions as the book progressed and the history behind why Winnie became who she is today. Her trauma from that part was very well crafted. Would have loved to see more of the book club in action while actually solving the murder.

Unfortunately the writing of this book was quite poor, with overdone metaphors, repetition, and a lack of structure. This could have benefited from some more editing. While the plot was interesting at the beginning, it became more and more convoluted and really needed to be pared down.

It’s giving ACOTAR x Twilight. I liked it, wasn’t anything great though - a fun read! Def fall vibes, for sure.
Too many characters, and got a bit boring after a while, chapters were longgggg 🥵
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Unfortunately I got into the biggest book slump and wasn’t able to finish this ARC on time. Although it did take me a while to get through I found that there was a bit too much of pop culture references. Don’t get me wrong there were moments where I was laughing and swooning over but the amount of side characters and side stories kind of threw me off. Overall this book is a bit overwhelming because of everything that is going on but it was still enjoyable. Thank you NetGalley for providing me this ARC and for your patience.

Fangs For Nothing is my first book by Steffanie Holmes, and I really enjoyed it. The setting of the quaint village, the Gothic castle, and the charm of the Nevermore bookshop really added to the atmosphere. The characters were fun and well-developed. The murder mystery was intriguing, with a twist that promises even more in the sequel

🖤~Winnie~: Winnie is the quintessential sunshine character you can’t help but adore. But there’s more to her than her bubbly exterior. She carries past trauma, and despite not having similar experiences, I felt for her because her fears were so relatable. Even when faced with danger, Winnie proves to be far stronger than she looks. I especially loved how she compared Alaric to vampires without knowing his secret.

🖤~Alaric~: As a fan of vampires (except for Remus Lupin, my favorite werewolf), I immediately liked Alaric. He’s dark, brooding, and has the lowest self-esteem imaginable. His way of speaking, like he’s stuck in the 1500s, is oddly sexy. Plus, his over-the-top nicknames for Winnie were adorable. He’s the kind of sexy vampire you can’t help but fall for.

🖤: The Nevermore Murder Club & Smutty Book Coven name is a mouthful, but the quirky members make it worth it. The focus is on reading smut and solving supernatural murders. One member, Mina, has three husbands—villains from classic literature. (Mina and her husbands have their own series, which I’m excited to read.) The book ends on a cliffhanger, teasing a sequel with two characters who share a past but haven’t met yet. Can’t wait for book two!

this was a very cute cozy fantasy. i thoroughly enjoyed winnie and alaric's story and them trying to navigate the complexities of their romance. the murder mystery part fell a little flat for me, and i found myself more interested in the romance. i also found this a little long, and some of the beats repetitive, but it was well written and fleshed out so i was still able to enjoy!

This book was perfection. The plot was engaging, the writing was so fun, and the chemistry between Winnie and Alaric was everything. It was a perfect twist on the paranormal romance genre, injecting a heavy dose of wit and charm into the typical vampire trope. The contrast between Winnie and Alaric’s personalities had me laughing and kicking my feet alone on my couch. Fangs for Nothing was the first book I have read by Steffanie Holmes, but it certainly won’t be my last.

𝓐𝓵𝓪𝓻𝓲𝓬: “Our love came unannounced in the night, knocking down walls and lighting candles in the gloom.”

𝓦𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓲𝓮: “Oh balls, I am living in a smutty romance novel.”

I enjoyed this, it was funny and ridiculous and an entertaining read. It was SO long though. Too long. And I feel like it relied a lot on the first series (I didn’t know this was a spin off until I was like wait…why is it talking like we are meant to know these characters?) which was a bit of shame since I hadn’t heard of it.

While I did find a lot of this funny and knew it was kind of taking the piss out of the whole vampire thing, I did cringe A LOT at the whole “my wife” shit. God that gave me the ick. Not only was it way too quick but it was weird and it really made me root LESS for the romance between Winnie and Alaric instead of more. It was weird.

I don’t know if this book was meant to be Winnie’s book or just a really long introduction for a second series of the Nevermore Murder Club people.

I think I’d have liked this book a lot more if the whole “my wife” thing was eradicated and if it were considerably shorter and more plot focused. I’m mad that this book ended and the murder storyline wasn’t even resolved…all to set up the sequel…

Also…the forgiveness thing at the end made me roll my eyes AND ball my fists because ABSOLUTELY NOT.

I picked up this book with great enthusiasm, the premise sounded exactly what I like on my cozy romance/mysteries. Sadly, I simply didn’t connect with this book.

While I loved the environment of the story and liked Winnie, Alaric and Reginald, this book tried to do too much and end up being underwhelming. The author brought interesting topics to the table such as the hoarding as the mental issue that it is and the trauma that it causes to the people around the hoarder, the trauma of centuries that Vampires would experience, however, those traumas were neatly resolved in the last 15% of the book which creates an unsatisfactory resolution to the conflict.

On the other hand, the group of friend is supposed to be investigating a murder/mystery but almost none of that is explored and they by luck find a possible suspect. I understand that the author is trying to leave the mystery for the next instalment but honestly it’s just felt like a very rushed resolution for the romance aspect and a very unfulfilling situation for the mystery portion.

On positive points, I will say that it was great to see both Alaric and Winnies point of view as the story unfolded and the writing was easy to read and follow.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy. All opinions are my own.
