I really enjoyed reading this book! There were a lot of laugh out loud moments with the main characters ,Tristen and Lula, and I really enjoyed how really rom-commy it felt throughout. It didn’t feel forced or like the author was trying too hard to make it romantic or funny. It felt like a very natural progression.
One of my favorite things was how the story focused on the main characters (duh lol) and was really to the point. There wasn’t any focus on anything other than the fact these two people had a one night stand and were now forced to work together. As the story moved there was more focus on backstory but it still kept true to the original story and didn’t try to deviate from that.
Definitely recommend.

There were moments I liked this and moments where it was underwhelming.
I really like our FMC, Lula. I related to her as someone who has to chat and put herself out there, even if she is an introvert. I love see her figure out how to stand up for herself and thrive in her job.
Tristan was OK.... I feel like he still needs to figure himself out before he can make things work with Lula and we didn't really get to see that. I wanted more from him.

In About Last Night, Lula meets Tristan at a bar and their instant-attraction leads to a one-night stand. But romance isn't in the cards, as Lula only finds Tristan at her business meeting the next day where he promptly fires here. This spicy workplace romance features forced proximity, opposite attracts and rivals-to-lovers tropes, told from both characters’ perspectives (in third person limited). Lula is a relatable lead–funny, shy, career-driven, romantic– while Tristan is charming, rich, and undeniably smitten. The writing is casual and fun, though the ending felt rushed and the characters could use more depth. Overall, it’s a light, enjoyable read, perfect for a quick escape or holiday romance.

📚MY REVIEW:
About Last Night is a cute lovers-to-friends-to-lovers rom-com -- with a big dose of spice! If you're a fan of rom-coms in workplace settings, you're going to want to read this one ASAP!
Our career-driven female main character, Lula, agrees to go out for cocktails for a friend's birthday against her better judgment, as she has a big meeting at work the next morning that could determine the trajectory of her future as a radio DJ. Lula meets an unexpectedly charming and handsome stranger... And throwing caution to the wind, the two share a VERY spicy night together. The next morning, Lula arrives at work to meet with the executive tasked with determining her career's future -- and is shocked to find herself sitting across the table from last night's fling, Tristan.
This was a fun read, with moments of laughter and lots of spice. This is probably the spiciest rom-com I can remember reading - if you like your books spicy, you're in for a treat. Lula and Tristan were endearing main characters, and I found myself cheering for their forbidden workplace romance throughout the book. This was a fantastic will-they-won't-they read, with a HEA ending that is sure to make you smile.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this advanced e-copy in exchange for my honest review!

Rated 3.5 Stars.
Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was a short and spicy romance. I enjoyed the main character Lula, she was determined to get what she wanted and was braver, I enjoyed her personality. Her love interest Tristan however wasn't my biggest fan. I liked him more as the book continued.
I enjoyed it being a work place romance and beginning with a one night stand.
It was a fun read and loved it being under 200 pages!
Tropes
- forced proximity
- work place romance
- boss + employee romance
- one night stand
- miscommunication

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a really fun book. I enjoyed it a lot!

Radio DJ Lula Lazenby is typically quiet and reserved, but after growing tired of being cautious, she decides to let loose for a night, pretending to be someone else, “Louise.” She does things she normally wouldn’t, including spending the night with the charming Tristan Bamfield. However, she’s horrified when she later discovers Tristan is actually her boss’s son, who has come to the radio station with the intention of firing her.
The story also follows Tristan, who meets Lu in a London pub while preparing to fire a DJ, Tallulah, at his father’s station after allegations of harassment. Meanwhile, Lu faces a career-altering meeting the next day but decides to let off some steam, with Tristan happily joining her. This rom-com, perfect for a holiday read, is filled with humor and relatable characters. It was the first book by this author that I’ve read, and I’m now eager to explore more of her work. It had everything I look for in a romance.

I felt this book could have been so much shorter! I liked the banter but did not like the characters at all! It was a short abd Erick read!
Thank you netgallry for the ARC!

Wow, this book is a total page-turner! The author did an amazing job capturing Lula's personality in vivid detail. I think so many people will connect with this book because it's just incredibly engaging. It's got the perfect blend of spice and drama. I can't recommend it enough!
Thank you, NetGalley and to the publisher for the ARC.

This book had a lot of components that made me interested. A big city? Check. Two characters with their own life and high-speed jobs? Check. A romantic story of this age? Check. Some spicy scenes to keep you interested? Check!
But somehow it didn't grip me as much as I thought it would have after reading the description.
What I liked was that the story was to the point, with the focus on the main characters.
That means that there was space for the charactersd to not be super flat, and show multiple sides of themselves.
We learn about their back stories and the things that shaped them, and how they still impact their actions today.
But even still, the storyline was incredibly flimsy, the characters acted rash and there was not a lot that made me interested in them.
Maybe the components I was looking for in this story have already been done so often that it is harder to have a story be compelling, either way this one did not convince me.

3 stars.
This book was short, quick to read, and I felt good about it. I liked both main characters and the story was also nice. However, I wasn't particularly attached to the characters. Anyway, the book was a nice light read!
This was the first book by Christy McKellen that I read, and I could very well read her books in the future.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
* Forced proximity
* Hea
* Miscommunication
* Mistaken identity
* Workplace romance
* One night stand turned more
* Open doors
* Second chance
* Steamy

Thank you for the ARC! This was a lovely little fluffy romance! It was steamy when it needed to be, the chemistry was great, however, it wasn't my favourite read.

A light and enjoyable read with charming moments. Perfect for a cozy afternoon when you're in the mood for a sweet romance! Emily is who I'd most like to meet.

***Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ebook.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
This was a fun quick read, and I enjoyed Lula and Tristan's banter and chemistry. I appreciated the tiny arc and character development we see from Tristan in putting his heart out there. There is a hint of trauma related to her parents, but each back story for both Lula/Tristan is probably not more than 2 paragraphs in the whole book combined. They don't dive too deeply in the heavy topics.
If you're wanting something fun, spicy, sweet this is a good choice. Plus, it looks like the best friend of Lula has her own book too, so very fun to treat as standalone or a sequel.

3.25/5 stars!
i was scared to read a romance book after reading so many fantasy books but this book actually surprised me a lot!
it was such a fun, fast read with some spicy and cute moments! i really liked lula and tristan together, they bring the best out of each other. I was worried their relationship would be kind of an insta-love because it’s a short read, but it didn’t feel that way at all!
this was very short and sweet, i didn’t find it cringey and i was very invested in reading this at any moment of the day. I would definitely recommend if you want a fast paced romance book!
thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange of my honest opinion!

About Last Night by Christy McKellen was such a blast to read! Thanks to NetGalley, Christy McKellen, and Boldwood Books for the ARC—I'm seriously so thrilled I got to dive into this spicy, fun romance!
✨ Tropes & Themes ✨
✧ Boss/Employee Romance 💕
✧ One Night Stand 💖
✧ Forced Proximity 💗
✧ Workplace Romance 💋
✧ Instant Attraction 😍
✧ Miscommunication 😬
✧ Second Chances 💕
✧ Enemies to Lovers (kinda) 💥
Lula and Tristan’s chemistry? Off. The. Charts. 💥 A one-night stand that turns into a workplace disaster? Oh yes, count me in! 😂 Lula's absolute horror when she discovers that her recent hookup is now her new boss, and to top it off, his first order of business is to fire her! I was glued to every page from that wild start. 📚
Lula is such a relatable queen—balancing her career while trying to dodge her undeniable feelings for Tristan. She’s funny, strong, and unapologetically bold, making her a blast to follow throughout the story. Tristan, meanwhile, is dealing with his own baggage—messy breakup vibes—but just can’t resist Lula’s charm. 😍 The office banter? Hilarious and spicy, with that classic will-they-won't-they tension simmering all the way. And don’t even get me started on that groveling moment… SO satisfying. 🙌
The pacing? Chef's kiss. It’s fast without feeling rushed, keeping things light but still giving all the heart. The miscommunication and personal baggage don’t drag on endlessly either—thank goodness for that! The rom-com clichés? Totally fitting the vibe of the story, and honestly, I didn’t mind them one bit. 🥰
In the end, About Last Night is the perfect fun, flirty read for when you need a quick romance pick-me-up! It’s sexy, laugh-out-loud funny, and just the right dose of heartfelt moments. Definitely recommend! 💕

About Last Night was a super quick read, based on a DJ and a businessman who accidentally becomes her boss after they hook up.
While this book had potential, it felt super rushed to me, so I didn’t feel like I got to know the characters, and it was very insta-lovey. I think with some more pages and time with this (and maybe more of a slow burn by keeping them enemies for longer), this could’ve been a really good book!

this was good; very easy quick read that you wanted to keep reading, but it was too fast paced for me and I would've def punched Tristan irl

Funny, poignant, endearing characters, a good spattering of relatable everyday truths, a few unexpected plot twists . . . everything a good book should be! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“For the first time in a long time she felt empowered and sexy and alive. She needed this right now. So badly”
Did I get exactly what I wanted in this spicy and funny and romantic romcom story? Absolutely!!! Boss romance, one night stand, forced proximity, workplace romance and an undeniable pull these characters are feeling. Exactly my cup of tea. I had so much fun getting through Lulu and Tristan’s story and honestly their dynamic was hilarious. The book is short enough to make the narrative interesting without sounding boring. I could read about them and have the best time, without feeling like the pages were too many or the story repetitive. It was a good combination of short time, fun time. Plus, there is something about Lulu that draws you in. I don’t know if it is the fact that she is an introverted woman trying and pretending to be outdoorsy and a partygoers when in truth, she is made for cozy movies and a night in. Or simply the fact that, as many others, she was attracted by guys that would have eventually have a path that felt incompatible to hers. And when Tristan comes in the picture … oh boy, did she have a great time!!! I enjoyed their dynamic and some of the banter that was there and the possibility of another story like this is … really exciting!!!
“In a shocking moment of clarity, she realised that this was always going to happen. She’d been kidding herself this whole time”
