TW for domestic violence with a male victim, torture of a captive (similar to the DV descriptions), and mentions of rape.

These books are so good. I have gotten different ones throughout the series as audiobook ARCs (books 1, 12, and 14), and this book (14 in the series) is by far the best one. While it is similar in tone and darkness, it is also a more better crafted mystery than book 12 was. In a long series like this, things can get formulaic and easy to solve, while I did figure out who the culprit was early the writing in this book had me second guessing myself until they are finally revealed.

My only issue with this book is similar to my problem with book 12, and may still be an audiobook versus written book issue, in that sometimes it's hard to tell which character you are with. I will say this critique is minor, and is a testament to how well done the writing from each character's perspective is. You can't tell who you are with because the author does such a good job of diving into each of their minds that it feels fluid as you transition from one character to another. You can figure out who you are with pretty quickly, because their motivations and thoughts are all different, but it can take a second occasionally.

This book is very well written, I deeply enjoy following DI Lottie Parker, and her family and relationships always give this series a little extra umph. I want to finish the whole series in order one day, these are re-readable for me because the characters are so nice to spend time with.

I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a more realistic mystery, with the caveat that there is a lot of psychological thriller elements to this book. I'd also recommend it to folks who like true crime and psychological thrillers.

Having read a previous book from this series I was aware of most of the characters. There were a few new ones since my last book, but that did t affect my enjoyment of this one. So I feel it could work well as a stand-alone if needed
(I am certainly going to go back and read the books I’ve missed though)

Once again we meet Lottie Parker and her team as they investigate a murder and a disappearance.

Young mum Laura, has been found murdered. A body is discovered in the show home of the local housing development and another young woman has gone missing. Are these case linked and if so how?

We follow the team as they investigate we learn a little more back story about some of the main characters and follow along as Lottie solves the case .

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this title and am looking forward to going back and reading the ones I’ve missed along with future books in the series

With a chilling start in the 14th book in the exceptional D.I. Lottie Parker series, Laura, a young mother with a four-year-old son is found murdered. Before long, Shannon, a second victim, is also discovered. Lottie gives her all to find justice for these victims, as well as to prevent any further murders from occurring. It is undeniable that the two murders are connected.

Meanwhile, there is drama on Lottie’s home front as well, as her mother is showing early signs of dementia. Also, Lottie’s partner Boyd is adjusting to being a full-time father to his young son Sergio. So with Lottie and her team being incredibly busy, and the dynamics changing in her family, an underlying tension grows between Lottie and Boyd.

Although I all but inhaled this book as soon as the ARC became available, I just had to give it a reread by way of an early audiobook release. The experience of listening to this as an audiobook was well worth the time invested.

Patricia Gibney delivers a powerfully crafted story with multiple points of view while Lottie navigates the difficulties of the tragic case involving several murders, her home life, and the POVs of the victims and suspects. Might be a lot to keep track of, but for me, it kept me riveted to the story. I can imagine Lottie as the lead role on a television crime drama because of all the dynamics she faces in her career and her personal life.

This book had it all, including excellent pacing and a dramatic storyline which kept my emotions involved. Factor in compelling characters, and this book was impossible to put down, even with a second read, barely two months later.

I was excited to discover that this series by Patricia Gibney has been translated into other several languages. So far I found Hungarian, Spanish, Castilian, Czech and German! In fact, I clicked the buy link for German and the first 13 books are in the series are on Kindle Unlimited, as I’m sure this 14th book will be as well. Now, this might not be the case for all languages, but be sure to click the link above to find out.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Her Last Walk Home by Patricia Gibney is a gripping crime thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. As the 14th book in the Detective Lottie Parker series, it still works well as a standalone, so you don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this one. The story follows Lottie as she investigates the murder of a young woman and the disappearance of another, with plenty of twists and turns along the way.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator, Michele Moran, did an amazing job bringing the characters and tension to life with her voice and Irish accents. The multiple points of view added depth to the story, but at times, it was a little hard to keep track of them all in the audio format. Still, the suspense kept me engaged, and I was surprised by the ending. Overall, a great read for thriller fans!

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Her Last Walk Home' by Patricia Gibney.

WARNING ⚠ ADDICTION ALERT ⚠

Wow!! What another absolutely riveting, non stop action packed crime thriller from this epic author!!!

I was absolutely hooked from the first page to the last!!! Not that I can say I am surprised as I absolutely LOVE Lottie and that gang!! This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that absorbs the reader into the storyline. The cover, title and synopsis suit the plot perfectly.

This book is the fourteenth book in Patricia Gibney's 'Lottie Parker' series but can be read as a standalone.

What I love about Patricia is that I don't even have to read the synopsis of any of her books to know that whatever that says the book is guaranteed to be a unique, gripping and addictive read and as always this book was no exception!!! This was yet another explosive addition to this fantastic series where Patricia completely emerges the reader into the storyline. The storyline is filled with suspense, crime, friendship, romance, murder, betrayal , heartache, secrets, family, lies and is absolutely rammed with tension which left me on the edge of my seat biting my nails with my heart pounding throughout. It is extremely fast paced and rammed with action and loads of red herrings. I loved the fact that you get to see what was going on from so many perspectives. The main ones are Lottie but you also get to see what happens through the eyes of several other characters!! Patricia manages to weave the chapters by different protagonists together perfectly and does not give a drip of information unless she wants you to know it!!! Patricia has absolutely everything covered and I absolutely love books like this as you really do get to see so much that it means you get further and further emerged into the storyline leaving you shocked and bewildered when you look up to discover your reality!! Patricia manages to drip feed the reader with titbits of information to allow you to try to solve it yourself without giving too much away. It is like you are Lottie trying to discover what is going on with your team surrounding you! However, I had no idea who was involved and was shocked when it was revealed so a HUGE well done to Patricia on shocking me. There were such a huge pool of suspects in this book and so many has the motivation , amongst other things that I had no idea who to believe until the bitter end!! I have read so many crime books it is getting harder and harder for me to be surprised but you achieved it so congratulations!! With so much going on in work as well as in personal lives will this amazing team be able to catch the killer this time? You'll have to grab your copy of this amazing read to find out for yourself but I promise you won't regret it!!! An epic, emotional, addictive and explosive addition to this absolutely gripping must read series!!! I cannot wait to see what Lottie, Mark and the rest of the team get up to next!!!

This is one of the few books that I have listened 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but for the second time I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrator Michele Moran who both did an absolutely amazing job bringing this story and the characters to life. I would listen to it and this book in the car and while walking at any opportunity. I'm not only looking forward to reading more books by the epic Patricia but also to listening to more books narrated by Michele!

Although this is the fourteenth book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without reading any of the others previously. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT THE FIRST PAGE WITHOUT CLEARING YOUR SCHEDULES AS THIS WILL KEEP YOU HOOKED!!!

I absolutely love Lottie, Boyd and the majority of the team and they have become like old friends to me who I look forward to meeting again in every book and miss them between books. It was quite sad coming to the end of this book and knowing I am going to have to say Goodbye to them for a while. It is vital for me that I 'click' with the main protagonists and I love Lottie's kick butt attitude and that she doesn't take any CRUD. I'm looking forward to getting to know her better from the previous books. Boyd is a sweet guy and I love how him and Lottie make such an epic team that work perfectly together. I absolutely love the fiery team dynamics and enjoyed that there was tension and fights in the team as it portrays the truth that a team won't always get along. All of these amazing, strong, unique and memorable characters come to life and jump out of the pages thanks to Patricia's fantabulous evocative writing skills and they have all become friends that I miss every time I turn the last page and always look forward to meeting them again and again. Keep up the amazing work Patricia!!

Congratulations Patricia on yet another fantastic book and this is exactly why you are on my favourite crime author list!!! I am looking forward to reading your previous and future successes and here's to your next 🥂!!

Overall a page turning and addictive explosive crime thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat throughout!!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC in audiobook format.

Patricia Gibney’s Her Last Walk Home is yet another gripping addition to the STELLAR Detective Lottie Parker series, delivering a compelling narrative sure to keep readers hooked.

As the 14th book in the series, it continues to showcase Gibney’s talent for crafting intricate plots and well-developed characters and her ability to consistently deliver top-quality additions to this series.

This story begins when the chilling discovery of a young woman’s body, Laura Nolan, is found on a patch of wet grass in the early hours of the morning. Detective Lottie Parker is immediately drawn into the case, heavily empathetic for the woman's family. As Lottie and her team delve into Laura’s last moments, they uncover a web of secrets and connections that complicate the investigation. The tension, and the responsibility weighing heavily on Lottie's shoulders (and those of her team members) builds as yet another young woman is reported as missing.

Gibney excels in creating believable and relatable characters. Lottie Parker, with her determination and empathy, remains a standout protagonist we are proud to cheer for. Her personal struggles and professional challenges add depth to her character, making her journey all the more engaging. The supporting characters, including Lottie’s team, are equally well-drawn, contributing to the story’s richness.

The author’s writing style is engaging and suspenseful. Gibney masterfully builds a sense of menace from the start, maintaining a fast pace that keeps us turning pages.

Her Last Walk Home explores themes of loss, justice, and the impact of crime on families and communities. Gibney’s portrayal of the emotional toll on the victims’ families is particularly poignant, adding a layer of depth to the thriller.

Her Last Walk Home is a must-read for fans of crime and mystery thrillers. Patricia Gibney delivers a well-crafted, heart-racing story that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next installment in the Detective Lottie Parker series.

If you prefer the audiobook format, the narrator does an equally excellent job giving the characters a voice.

The Lottie Parker series is one I regularly seek out, it is "comfort food" for police procedural lovers.

I greatly enjoy the characters and the plot development. I have yet to find even ONE book in this series as less than stellar, and reading a new entry is like returning to the company of a beloved friend.

If you haven't yet read Patricia Gibney's Lottie Parker series, you can easily jump in any time (this book would be a fine place to start). I can almost guarantee you will return for more!

Another great book in series from Patricia Gibney. Fast paced that didn’t disappoint. Detective Lottie is back when the body of a young woman is found dead. Then a couple more and a missing person . Is there a connection ?

It’s number 14 of the series but can be read / listened to standalone. It’s as good as the last 13 books. Highly recommended

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre

I listened to the audiobook version of this story. The narrator did a good job in building the tension of the story and bringing the characters to life. I was drawn in from the start and absorbed in trying figure out who was kidnapping and murdering these girls.

The story is filled with twists that led me one direction, only to realize it was a dead end and turn another. The way it all revealed itself was well done!
A good suspense thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and engaged throughout the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture audio for the arc. I leave this review voluntarily.

Her Last Walk Home Patricia Gibney

As a favourite series of mine, I was delighted to get my hands on book 14. This was the first book of the series that i listened to, and it took a little while to get used to the narrator, but just because Lotties voice was different in my head.

Once I settled in, I quickly enjoyed the narration and storyline, I just might be converted to this series on audio from now on!

This book had everything we know any love from this series and I eagerly await book 15.

Her Last Walk Home is the 14th book in the Lottie Parker series and again it’s another unputdownable read. I was very lucky to have the chance to listen to this via audio as well. This was fantastic for me as it meant I could listen to the audio when I was out and about and wasn’t able to read my actual kindle. The narrator Michelle Moran was excellent and made the audio fantastic to listen to. It was wonderful to be back with Lottie and her team as they deal with the atrocities and try to find the perpetrator. This was a gripping and page turning read that had me hooked right from the prologue. I don’t think I’ll ever have enough of this series as it just keeps on getting better and better.

Detective Lottie Parker continues to impress.

4.5 stars rounded up.

Book no. 14 in the Detective Lottie Parker series. I only recently discovered the series and had only read the [book:very first book|33558545] before this one. I will say that having that background knowledge helped me to know and understand the characters better, even without having read books 2-13, but "Her Last Walk Home" could also work as a standalone. While the personal lives of the detectives, Lottie in particular, continue to play a part, the main focus remains on the mystery so you don't necessarily need a lot of previous knowledge of the characters to enjoy the story, though it helps.

"Her Last Walk Home" is another fast-paced, complex story featuring Detective Lottie Parker. A young woman's body is discovered and soon after, another one goes missing - and it becomes apparent that the streets of the (fictional) Irish town of Ragmullin are not safe.

I appreciated that the story was told from multiple points of view - the police's, the perpetrator's as well as (some of) the victims' - without sacrificing logic or suspense. This was a gripping, dark mystery that I could not put down.

I listened to the audio book, which was excellent. The narrator did an outstanding job.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

"Her Last Walk Home" is slated to be released on September 21, 2024.

3.75⭐️

Having loved the first audiobook I jumped straight to book 14 which is nothing new for me, but I wouldn’t advise it, I feel it’s too big a jump in this Irish crime series.

It’s great that it’s the same narrator. I love Irish accents, she does a great job adding to the story for me, and giving different accents as well as voice tones.

A young de@d woman is just the start of a complex series of events with multiple POV. You need to concentrate to keep track of what’s happening as this rattles along. The chapters are short and snappy, but there’s no indication of the POV changes.

This book didn’t have the same impact on me as the first book which I loved, I’m keen to listen to more of the earlier books in the series.

The narrator's voice is lovely. I'd listen to her read the dictionary. However, the many different POVs and the lack of distinction between characters, made the story a little hard to follow. If the chapter started with the name of the POV in that chapter it certainly would have helped. The narrator did give different voice inflections between the characters in each chapter, but again, with the numerous POVs, it was a little muddled.

On to the book itself. This is my first book by Patricia Gibney. While this is book 14 in a series it worked well as a stand-alone. I'd know more about Detective Lottie if I had read the others but it didn't feel necessary to the storyline. The ending was a little confusing and hurried, but I did not see it coming and it's always nice to feel surprised by the ending.

Overall I think it's probably better as a physical read than an audiobook.

Michele Moran does another great job narrating the latest Lottie Parker instalment and bringing it to life, I have only listened to book one so far and the characters and the writting have evolved and got better since the 1st story and although I plan to listen to the other books I did not feel I had missed much by listening to this instalment and I am glad Lottie has found love again.

A gripping and well written thriller that keeps you guessing. A dead young woman is found and Lottie Parker investigates then a young woman is reported missing, and a race against time to find her. Full of twists and turns to make your head spin. Michelle Moran adds to this book with her top notch narration and I would listen to her again. Thanks to Bookoutre audio and Netgalley for this review copy.

I have been enjoying this series of books, though I haven't read all of them. This one is just as gripping and thrilling from the word go… exciting storyline and well written characters. I felt like I was working out the puzzle along with Lottie, and alternating chapters with the POV of the "bad guy" increased the urgency and suspense.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

This high quality audio book is the latest in tge long running series of di Lottie Parker.. its another complicated case within the background of the day to day family relationships that give this a well loved realistic feels. This felt more devoted to the story than the relationships. I loved the way it all pulled together and it was a good stand alone mystery. There was lots of effort to show rge police as people. Lotties's family were very real and have grown throughout the series. It was realistic entertaining and gripping. The narrator did a fab job. Thank yoy netgallery and publisher and author and narrator for this highly recommended 5 star listen.

A woman’s tortured body is found in the early morning. A man is found dead in the garage of a new show home. Are they linked and if so how.? Detective Lottie Parker will work tirelessly with her team to discover who is responsible. This investigation will be complicated in this well paced novel.

Enjoyed this well written and well narrated novel (I listened to the audiobook). Good strong characters with a determination to find the killer/s. Can they save more from death? Enjoyed catching up on Lottie’s personal life too.
