Thank you for the arc, I absolutely loved this book! Of I didn’t have to work I would have easily read it in a day 🙈 I thought the plot idea was different and funny and very eventful. The characters were well written and I loved the smooshy hidden centre of James especially when he talked about his family. Fliss’s revelation at the end was definitely needed and I was so happy with the ending ☺️ definitely not my last book I’ll read of Chloe’s I can’t believe this was a debut!

ARC Review

An enjoyable and sweet romcom story.

Whilst Michael is unhinged & I hope this type of plot doesn’t happen in real life, the journey Fliss & James went on was hilarious as well as traumatic.

It was wonderful to see the emotional growth and development of the characters and the book was overall very feel good and great fun to read.

This was so fun! I too would 100% sue my boss in Fliss and James’ position after he’d left me in the Scottish highlands with my work nemesis, a poorly packed bag and £50 between us. Yet, despite how totally unethical, what enfolded was a fun micro adventure between two rivals with somewhat scorching chemistry.

The romantic tension was satisfying, albeit a bit frustrating through Fliss’ perspective at times and the overarching conflict was interesting. I do think things wrapped up a little too quickly in the end, but it was an otherwise good time.

Inhaled this book in 24 hours, absolutely loved the enemies to lovers storyline set in Scotland with a forced proximity element too from a meddling boss. A perfect story to get me out of a reading slump!

This was such a fun book to read! The forced proximity really worked in this story between two rival employees who are forced into spending time with one another in the wilderness.

I really liked the tension between Fliss and James and they had such easy banter between them that you as a reader can't help but kick your feet up and giggle.

Definitely for someone who wants a silly rom-com to dive into and beat any reading slump or blues!

"Work Trip was a very likable and well-written book. James and Felicity are great characters; they are witty, and it is amusing to watch them develop their own sense of banter as the book progresses. The plot was well thought out and took the characters on an epic adventure through the Scottish Highlands. As the reader, I really enjoyed their trip and felt as if I were out there in the wonderful wilderness, enjoying the Scottish scenery myself. It is refreshing to see the characters' relationship develop and their sizzling chemistry take off. Overall, the book was very enjoyable, and I think fans of workplace romance, as well as the enemies-to-lovers trope, will really enjoy this read."

Work Trip - Chloe Ford (arc)

4.5 ⭐️

The most perfect and wholesome rom-com!

Fliss (Felicity) and James are absolute office rivals. So what happens when two people who can’t stand each other, get stranded in the Scottish Highlands by their crazy boss with nothing but a single tent and two backpacks?

As a corporate girly myself, I am beyond obsessed with any book that has office antics in it. The way Fliss had to carry herself in meetings with a “corporate cyanide smile” was so real. I love that she was so passionate about her job and career and didn’t cower when people questioned her projects, work ethic or drive. The underlying anxiety and complexity of Fliss made her all the more relatable. She was honestly such a perfect sunshine fmc with all her little quirks, bright outfits and nuances.

The nature of Fliss made it all the more entertaining when combined with a character like James. Also career driven (from a different angle to Fliss), he was extremely loud and ambitious to succeed. He was a character that was larger than life and without seeing him, you could feel his presence. He was such a powerful character, so when paired with Fliss (who was a lot of sunshine but had her own fire) was absolutely hilarious.

I loved that James could read Fliss so well and understand her. Helping her through her moments of anxiety and just someone finally being there for Fliss was so pure. I ADORED that he was there for her, but never dimmed her light (as a lot of characters with this dynamic can tend to do).

Something that Chloe did really well was the descriptions of the scenery and location of the Scottish Highlands. It was so easy to vividly imagine where Fliss and James were and feel like you’re there with them. This is so important for books that are based in the outdoors and Chloe absolutely nailed this!

The witty banter between Fliss and James was exactly what this book needed to keep it a fast paced read. The plot was never rushed but it also didn’t drag on. The most absolutely, perfect rom-com!

Read if you like:
- Forced proximity
- Enemies to Lovers
- Office rivals
- One tent
- He falls first

This book features many of my favorite tropes, and the corporate setting is handled skillfully. I enjoyed the Scottish atmosphere and the well-crafted character development of both main leads. The author’s writing is consistently engaging and easy to follow. Thank you for the opportunity!

I'm conflicted because I liked the premise of the book however, I just didn't feel like it was executed well which was a shame.

The tampon story made me laugh out loud, and I enjoyed picturing the Scottish highlands but the rest disappointed me. Fliss quite frankly was unbearable. Their inner monologue genuinely drove me INSANE, and James was also borderline unbearable. I sat praying someone would give him a huge reality check because who did he think he was??

Thanks so much to Aria & Aries for this ARC copy of The Work Trip.

I really liked the premise of this book, 2 work colleagues who practically hate each other are forced to spend a week together in remote Scotland.

I love a good enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and I found the writing style to be easy to read. However I just found the whole thing completely unbelievable. The lack of food for days, the wet clothes, the near death experiences.

I would definitely read another of Chloe’s books as I enjoyed her writing style, but I just wasn’t a huge fan of the story of this

I really enjoyed this book! It felt like a fresh take on enemies to lovers and it ha different angle that I haven’t come across before. I adored the setting of the Scottish Highlands and the plot itself was a little crazy but the main characters were aware that the situation was insane but made the most out of it.

I really felt for Fliss, giving her all to her job but not being appreciated for hard work. I enjoyed her journey of her realising her worth and not to tolerate anything less.

James was a great MMC and I really liked how important his family was to him. The connection between Fliss and James was really well written and was everything I love in the enemies to lovers trope.

I will definitely recommend this book!

Work Trip by Chloe Ford is a delightful enemies-to-lovers romance set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. The book follows Fliss, a woman who dreads the prospect of a team-building work trip, largely because of her insufferable colleague, James. Not only does James regularly undermine her brilliant ideas, but his presence is enough to make any work-related excursion feel like a nightmare.

However, when the two of them arrive in the remote Scottish Highlands, things take an unexpected turn. Their boss, in a manipulative move, abandons them in the middle of nowhere, leaving them with only one tent, two sleeping bags, and a few protein bars to survive on. Cut off from civilisation and facing the unpredictable elements of the rugged landscape, Fliss and James are forced to put aside their differences and work together to find their way back.

As they traverse miles of harsh wilderness, their physical and emotional endurance is put to the test. All the while, they are aware of their boss's attempt to engineer a romantic spark between them, adding a layer of tension to an already difficult situation. Both Fliss and James are determined not to give in to the possibility of romance, but as the days go on and they’re forced to rely on each other, the lines between enemies and something more begin to blur.

Chloe Ford’s Work Trip expertly blends humour and heart, creating a fast-paced, engaging story that is both fun and heartfelt. The witty banter between the two main characters is a highlight, making their journey across the Highlands all the more enjoyable. The stunning scenery serves as the perfect backdrop for their evolving relationship, adding a layer of romance to the adventure.

With its mix of clever dialogue, unexpected twists, and an undeniable chemistry between the leads, Work Trip is a perfect read for fans of romantic comedies and those who love a good enemies-to-lovers story. It’s a book that’s sure to leave you smiling, with just the right balance of humour, heart, and a touch of romance. A must-read for anyone in need of an uplifting escape.

The banter in this book was just brilliant! I laughed a lot reading this and the romance was really good too!

If you are into workplace romances, only one bed and the classic enemies to lovers trope you are in for a treat! I just loved the banter between the FMC and MMC, usually in an enemies to lovers trope there are existing feelings for at least one of the characters, but they truly did hate each other from the get go 🤣

The gender pay gap is unfortunately so real, I wanted to punch her boss in the face on so many occasions! Luckily she got the last word in the best way.

I’ll definitely be reading more books by this author.

I tried this book so many times and I'm not sure if it's me and that this isn't the book I'm looking for right now or if it's the book. I'd be willing to give it another try as the writing was good, I just couldn't get into it

This was very cute, and very much gave the hating game vibes I’ve been looking for, but with the forced proximity trope and also some lost in the wilderness survival stuff I always go feral for.

I loved the quirky main character, she was funny but also just infuriating enough to make it interesting. The only negative I can think of is that the writing was a little choppy toward the beginning however it progressively got better throughout the book, so it didn’t bother me much.

I really enjoyed how the main character’s struggles, anxiety and overall development was portrayed; it made her very realistic and relatable. And the romance plot made for a really fun and fast read. This is honestly an excellent debut. Chloe Ford will definitely be an author I keep an eye out for in the future. I basically inhale read this and was just the rom-com escape I was looking for.

Wow! This was sensational, I read it in less than 24 hours because I couldn’t put it down. It hooked me from the start, the banter, the humour, the sass and the dialect. Super funny, a few true “gasp!” moments and two leads who aren’t perfect. Work Trip is a first person story written solely in Felicity’s POV. Her journey of self-realisation, as well as realisations about Gloatman, are throughly enjoyable and it is refreshing to have a character who isn’t perfect and realises maybe they’ve made some mistakes and been wrong. I laughed out loud, truly entertained and very much enjoyed this forced proximity, workplace enemies to lovers.
