Firstly, I want to say, I really enjoyed the premise of this book! There were so many things I loved about it and I really enjoyed the character development throughout the time in Scotland. But I wish it was longer! I felt that the last 20% of the book was a bit rushed and would have been even better with a bit more detail and fleshing out. I also think that an epilogue at the end of the book would have hugely added to my enjoyment of the story. Very much still enjoyed though and will definitely be recommending, very easy reading, good storyline and likeable mcs. 3.5 stars for me.
Gorgeous, funny British romance com.
Things I loved about this book:
❤️ Solid work rivals. No denying the hate
♥️ Setting - really well described and I could envision every comedic moment!
♥️ Two lovely back stories
♥️ A real sense of will they/won't they
♥️ Some slowburn spice 🌶️
Fliss is in charge of marketing at Starr Agency. James is head of sales and they can't stand each other. They're supposed to be a team building week only they find it's only them in the middle of Scottish Highlands
What a gem! This is not your typical enemies to lovers romcom, it is so much more. The main characters develop beautifully as the story progresses. Not only do they discover more things about each other, they also discover self. Couldn’t put this down. 5 stars from me
4.5 🌟 I really enjoyed this one! A lot of rom-coms aren’t that great for me but this one I genuinely felt like these characters would act the way they did throughout the book annd it was funny - and I personally loved the ending!
Fliss & James were great together and I love the forced proximity trope. Enemies to lovers done really well, I would definitely recommend!
Quick and fun read. I wished to feel more chemistry and hoped for more banter between the MC's but, overall a relaxing a sweet read.
Big thank you to Net Galley, the publisher, and the author for the advanced copy.
I absolutely ate this book up! It was INCREDIBLE! I was hooked from the first chapter and finished the entire book in one sitting. Honestly haven’t read anything like this before it was such a fun and easy read! Would definitely recommend to someone if they were looking to get into reading or to get them selves out of a reading slump! Plus I read this on a road trip to Scotland which made the whole thing SO much more exciting!
This was cute and a good easy train read. I wish I could have had a bit more depth but its a cute one.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars!
Thank you to NetGalley for the gifted copy!
They say you should keep your enemies closer… but for Fliss the team building trip away fills her with dread. She can’t stand James, Head of Sales, and his over confident personality and when she finds out they’ve been left stranded in the Scottish highlands just the two of them, she wishes she was waking up from a dream.
I really enjoyed this book, it helped me to get out of my reading slump as it was so easy to read and follow and was a nice light-hearted rom-com.
Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for an easy palette cleanser between books!
Rated 4.5 ⭐️
Initially when I started reading this book, I wasn't getting into it. I found it talked a lot about what was happening at Fliss' work and nothing about a trip. However, after about 100 pages this book got soooo much better.
AS Fliss and James began their adventure on the work trip, their chemistry began to grow and I found myself rooting for them! I didn't like James at the start and was hoping he wouldn't be the MMC but by the end, I couldn't get enough of him.
If you find yourself wanting to put this down at the start, stick it out. Believe me it gets much better!
I am looking forward to reading another book by this author as this was her debut novel!

After finding this book through NetGallery and loved the description, particularly as I love a good enemies to lovers story. So I was glad I was given the chance to be an ARC Reader, as it is was such a great read and truly sucked me into Felicity and James's lives.
Felicity and James are work colleagues that have pure hatred for each other (gives off 'The Hating Game' vibes) - she works in Marketing and he works in Sales and they are very competitive towards each other and don't they know it.
The CEO of the Company decides that a team building exercise is required and this is why they both, out of the blue, end up in the middle of the Scottish Highlands, with only backpacks, two sleeping bags and one tent. Their mission... to get back to civilisation with only the contents of their backpacks and £50 cash and to not kill each other in the process.
This begins a journey where initially they despise each other, but through their close proximity they discover things about each other, and begin to see each other in a different light and soon they are sharing more than just their life stories....
But in all good enemies to lovers stories, a secret comes to light that James has been hiding from Felicity, which ends up destroys the connection between them. Can James do enough to win Felicity's trust and take the next step, or is it too late?
The story was so beautifully written and I absolutely loved the initial banter between Felicity and James. Enjoyed how they developed throughout the story, through learning to trust each other and help each other to get them through the task in hand, and eventually showing themselves in a different light.

My only negative point of this review is there is no epilogue as I would like to have known what happens with James and Felicity, after the main events of this story.
Definitely a 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5 read, and would definitely read again.
Many thanks to Aria & Aries for letting be an ARC Reader for this story.
The Work Trip was a short, enjoyable romcom novel that I easily devoured in one sitting. Chloe Ford's writing style reminded me of Emily Henry's.
The setting was charming, and the chemistry between the characters was strong, though they both felt more like they were in their early 20s than the 30-somethings they were meant to be. Fliss, in particular, often seemed in over her head, and her impulsiveness sometimes came off as a bit immature. However, James balanced her out well and was a grounding, positive influence on her. I really wish we had seen James's point of view, especially of the incident behind the tent.. :)
I liked how their story ended, but I really wish there had been an epilogue—I was eager to see what they would do next after quitting and suing Michael. It would have been satisfying to get a glimpse of their future together and how they handled the aftermath.
Thank you to the Author, the Publisher and Netgalley for the eARC.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this. Work Trip is funny, steamy and a fantastic enemies to lovers read. It ticks all the boxes for me. Five stars.
Take two rival managers from one events firm and drop them in the Scottish Wilderness with one tent, two sleeping bags, a whole heap of stubbornness, and wait for the fireworks. That’s exactly what Felicity and James get in this great romcom book. With enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes running through this story, it is do hard not to love these characters. The emotions are relatable, the situation humorous, and the outcome inevitable. Ford has written a great romcom in a wonderful backdrop - I found it difficult to put down.
Thank you NetGalley, Aria & Aries, Head of Zeus for this electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love reading books set in Scotland, even though I'm scottish and live there I love seeing it through the eyes of others.!
Work Trip is a funny enemies to lovers rom com, full of Banter, wit, arguements and more! I mean what could go wrong being stuck in Scotland with a tent and fifty quid - the answer to that is a lot! Then add in the close proximity, work place/personal problems and the chemistry between Fliss and James, we were in for a heck of a read.
The only thing I would have wanted was another chapter or two to see what happened next for Fliss and James
I was pleasantly surprised by Work Trip by Chloe Ford. An easy to read, fun romance about two work enemies being ditched in remote Scotland who have to withstand each other.
This was enjoyable to read albeit very predictable, without being too formulaic. I liked the nods to the main characters back stories, but felt this could be explored more for it to be really impactful.
All in all I think this is a good, easy romance with a bit of spice and fun. Between 3 and 4 stars.
It's the British Hating Game! They start off as enemies, though I wouldn't call it enemies-to-lovers because I don't think they actually truly hate each other and the book is too short for that trope. But we're repeatedly told these two actually hate each other and no one had a previous crush on the other, at least consciously. Both of them are up for the same promotion, so they have to work together, in this case during a truly insane task set by their boss. One is a people pleaser who is way underpaid, but exceptional at her job, and with ecletic taste, and the other is the busiest business salesman, who is solely focused on money.
I was definitely on Fliss' side for how annoying James was at first, and while we came to understand what made him so, I'm not sure I would've acted with the grace she did.
While we straight up hate the male director in THG from the start, the creepy, sexist boss in this first makes us think he's not that bad and maybe he set the two of them up for this whole thing as a funny joke, trying to get his employees together thing. Or maybe that was my wishful thinking cause I think that trope is adorable..but now he's just an idiot and I think actually cruel.
Disclaimer of it not being a final version made me expect a lot more issues (with the writing, story, formatting), but I really didn't see many. The writing was fine, and very British (sometimes you can't tell where an author is from, but you definitely can here), I could only see some changes to characterization or small plot elements to make it smoother and change the theme a bit, but I wouldn't deem them necessary, that would just be for my preference to make the book more likeable.
Honestly, reading their adventures was stressful af, don't even want to imagine actually living those events. I spent my time growing up in the outdoors and did my DoE. The thought of what they were put through with no warning is horrifying. I don't think I've ever read a (non-fantasy/non-dark) modern romance book where I was actually worried for their lives before. It went beyond just cute little backpacking trip to me, which definitely raised the stakes but felt at odds with the genre.
I'm overall way more incensed at how the character were treated in their world that I ever was focuses on their romance. I'm also not really sure how the couple will fair after the book ends, it felt like one of those things where the life or death situation encouraged feelings to develop, and while yes it pushed both characters to do what was needed in the end, I'm not sure how much character development actually happened and if the changes and therefore their relationship will last.

Blurb:
Fliss and James cannot stand each other. He thinks she’s the most annoying person alive, and she thinks he’s the definition of arrogance. But when their boss drops them in the middle of Scotland for a week-long team-building retreat, sparks are bound to fly—and not just from the campfire! 👀🔥
Review:
I was so lucky to be approved as an ARC reader for Work Trip by Chloe Ford, and let me just say—I loved it!
First of all, this is a real enemies-to-lovers story. None of that “secret attraction” nonsense—they genuinely hate each other at first, and it adds such a hilarious dynamic to their interactions. The witty banter and snappy dialogue had me turning pages like crazy. 🗣️✨
The stunning Scottish backdrop made the story even more immersive. Chloe Ford does an amazing job of painting the rugged beauty of Scotland, making you feel like you’re right there with Fliss and James in the Highlands. 🏞️🏕️
Their misadventures and growing relationship felt so natural, and I loved how both characters were forced to not only get to know each other but also explore their own personal growth. It’s the kind of rom-com that has just the right amount of heart. 💖
Work Trip will be released in April 2025, and I can’t recommend it enough! Big thanks to @headofzeus, @netgalley, and @chloeford for letting me meet these two wonderful characters. 🥰
It took me a bit to get into this, and think maybe it is because it was so faced paced that the set up of their enemy dynamic was a bit annoying, and at first I didn't think that I was going to want them to get together. I think overall, it was a clever way to imagine the workplace enemy to lovers trope, and also examine imporant and interesting workplace culture issues. I liked how through the book, the inital set up was reimagined as Fliss learns more about herself, James and their boss but I just felt like it could have been paced a little better.
I really enjoyed the way Chloe Ford explored why they hated each other, and that it wasn't just a misunderstanding or one person being a jerk that was suddenly overcome. I thought having it be a mix of both their personalities, but including some flaws and some issues where it was just differing viewpoints was interesting and realistic. I thought she did a good job of giving reasons for things without brushing it aside - like James' need for money is very understandable but also something for him to work on.
Overall, a fun read, although I think with a bit more pacing it would have been easier to connect to the characters and buy into the premise earlier.
I loved the tension between Felicity and James from the beginning of the book until the end.
The story is told from a single point of view, Felicity’s, who harbors a deep hatred for James, her work rival and competitor for the promotion to director.
I really liked James as a character, as well as his backstory; you understand his motivations and behavior.
On the other hand, I didn’t connect with Felicity at all; I found her really moody and quite annoying. And even though you can understand her a little, she got on my nerves until the very end.
I didn’t like the way the story ended because the romance aspect was barely explored; 1 or 2 more chapters would have been perfect, or even an epilogue would have sufficed.
