When nanny Lizzie moves in to help Cecelia with her daughter, Peyton, Cecelia begins to suspect Lizzie has ulterior motives for finding her way into their lives..

I did not realize that this book was part of a series, so I do think that affected my level of enjoyment of this book. This book is described as a psychological Thriller with a killer twist, so I waited the entire read for a killer twist to come along. The writing was super quick and easy, and I did zip through it and it kept me entertained enough, but it was very obvious what was going on the whole book. I was promised a twist so I kept going only to realize that it ended exactly how I expect to do to pretty much from the beginning. That was a little bit of a disappointment, though like I said it kept me entertained and I got through it quickly so I guess I enjoyed it enough. I do think had I read the other books in the series I may have appreciated it more, as I have read some rave reviews on those books. This was my first book by this author. If you're a fan of this author then I'm sure you will enjoy this one as well.

Title- What the nanny saw
Rating-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This summer, I had the pleasure of reading Kaira's book “The Second Mrs. Strom" and was captivated by the character Cecelia. Upon learning of Kaira's third installment in the series, which features Cecelia's return, I was thrilled. This latest book held my attention from start to finish. I mean I was GLUED, and couldn’t put it down. Notably, despite being the third in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Synopsis-
I keep all her secrets. She thinks she can trust me…

Cecilia has it all. The house on the beach. The cute figure. The beautiful baby. But she’s a long way from perfect.

She’s let me into her gorgeous house as her nanny because now she’s on her own, she needs a little help with her baby daughter Peyton. She barely notices me. But I see everything.

While Peyton naps, I rifle through her drawers and discover the dark secrets in her past, the threatening letter from her ex-husband.

It's a shame that Cecilia doesn’t have my powers of observation. If she took some time, she might just recognise me. I’ve been following her for a while, after all.

If she knew who I was then I don’t think I’d be so invisible. And she wouldn’t be so surprised one morning when little Peyton’s cot is found empty…

Kaira Rouda never disappoints, and this is another great book from her.

We have met Cecelia and Paul Strom in previous books, and they are great characters that the author has developed, and, in this book, I feel we get to know Cecelia a lot more and on a deeper level. She is dealing with a young baby, not Paul’s child but Evan’s who she has been dating. Unfortunately, once pregnant Cecelia seems to lose her shine for Paul, and this sets the scene for the story.

Struggling, and feeling very alone Cecelia meets Lizzie one day at a coffee shop. Lizzie herself is unhappy working as a nanny for another family who do not treat her well, neither by the parents or their offspring. Ceclia feels like all her Christmas’s have come at once when Lizzie agrees to move and look after baby Peyton for Cecelia, only thing is she does not have to move far as her current family live next door to Cecelia.

But Lizzie has her own secrets and as with any other book from this author, this presents us with another multilayered story. What is really happening here and whose agenda will determine the outcome of the situation Cecelia is now in, and what plans is Paul working on in the background from prison, Paul always has his own agenda.

Looking forward to another book in this series.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.

This is a great read. I read it as a stand alone nov and it is so well written that it works really well on its own. It’s fast paced and twisty, with a great punchy storyline that kept me hooked.

I really enjoyed Best Day Ever and The Second Mrs Strom, and I was really excited to see more from this series. I liked that this book explored Cecelia's POV after the events of The Second Mrs Strom.
I thought the twists were great without being too over the top. This was an entertaining read with a fast paced twisty plot that had be guessing until the very last page!

I didn’t read realise when I started reading this it was a sequel to a book I haven’t read but it didn’t put me off I still carried on and so glad I did. I really enjoyed it and I am now going to read the previous books. I loved the writing style and how the story just flowed throughout. There was lots of twists and turns which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this great book. I can not wait to recommend this to everyone.

I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN. So much so that I was sneakily reading it at work.
I requested the ARC for this book because the blurb reminded me a bit of The Housemaid by Freida McFadden which I absolutely loved. It had some similar traits but at the same time it was a completely different story. The plot was exciting and all the little tidbits and characters with their own motives made it so that I did not really know who was behind what was happening.

The ending was a little disappointing personally in terms of who I was rooting for but I am not going hold that against the book since it is a personal preference. I think most people would be happy with the way it ended. What I really liked about it was that the ending was actually in the realm of believable unlike some mystery/thriller books that are so desperate for a shocking twist that they just a completely unbelievable culprit out of nowhere. Kaira Rouda is definitely on my radar after reading this book and I need to check out more Bookouture books as I have been enjoying several books from them lately.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC!

Loved this. Realised a couple of chapters in that this is a sequel to another book I've read. Liked the reintroduction of old characters, with a little more depth and insight into their make up. I believe there's room for a follow on.

“I could not put this one down… Kaira Rouda has the incredible ability to write the perfect and most twisted thrillers!… This was a huge hit! Full of shock, and unexpected plot twists, I loved this one!

What the Nanny Saw is fast paced, twisted thriller that has Cecelia back in our midst.

Her life has moved on and she is has a new daughter, a new partner in Evan and a beautiful home.

Trouble always finds Cecelia .

Her health is suffering from that horrific fall/push, the baby wont settle and Evan is nowhere around when she needs him.

Enter Lizzie the Nanny.

She sees everything.

Secrets, revenge, lies and so much more.

Kaira Rouda has mastered the twist the reader wont see coming and that's all I am willing to give away.

What the Nanny Saw is a great addition to Family Secrets and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the privilege of reading and reviewing What the Nanny Saw.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of What the Nanny Saw. Well this definitely was NOT like the first two books. Cecilia was not even like the same character as in the last book. What happened here? It was a light, easy read but nothing thrilling. Cecilia was very wrong in the way she treated Evan, I did not like her in this book at all. Looks like there will be a fourth with the same characters, PLEASE MAKE THEM like they were in the past.

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 13th Nov. This is the first book I’ve read from the author now I’m a definitely a fan!

It had plenty of pulse racing twists that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout! I was on tender hooks whilst reading it and the plot had many suspenseful moments thrown in!

My favourite character was Cecilia as I wonder how play out with Lizzie was it a chance encounter or ulterior motive that was the ultimate question!

I’d highly recommend this book a mind blowing concept with a spine tingling ending one word WOW! 😊

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this book, with my honest review below.

What the Nanny Saw is the third book in a series following Paul Strom’s universe, which I mention because I had read The Second Mrs. Strom not realizing it was following Best Day Ever (the first book in the series). There is no enjoyment taken away if you have not read other books in the series, but if you have you may be even more interested in picking this up.

What the Nanny Saw follows Cecilia, who is the second Mrs. Strom, as she lives out her best fantasy on the beach, now rich and with a baby from her lover, Evan. When nanny Lizzie enters her life you’d think it would be the cherry on her easy living Sunday, but Evan actually kind of sucks, her husband ex husband Paul is out of jail and wants back with Cecilia, Nanny Lizzie has aspirations to be a Malibu Trad Wife (traditional wife and mom) and is delusional, and Cecilia really wasn’t wired to be a mom. This leads to a perfect storm of a mystery and it could not have happened to a worse person.

I enjoyed the plot turns on this one and really I enjoy bad people getting put through a bit of a wringer of its deserved, not hardcore, and part of an entertaining book, such as What the Nanny Saw. This one will keep you engaged and I enjoyed the hint of more to come!

THis book is the next part of Cecelia's story, after Paul goes to jail after The Second Mrs. Strom. It is actually book 3 of the stories featuring that horrible man, Paul Strom. Cecelia now has a baby, with Evan and her life unfolds and becomes too much for her to handle. She hires a nanny and doesn't really know much about her. The story unfolds from there. The tricks and deceipt pile up until right at the end. The twist of who was reaching out to Paul in prison was a surprise! The ending just seemed to happen quickly and wrap it all up neatly, so I'll be anxious to see if there will be more in the series. All in all, another great read from Ms. Rouda. I am a fan of hers and follow her on social media, along with the Killer Author Club. If you are a fan too, check the KAC!

BEST DAY EVER is one of Kaira Rouda's best thrillers, and I was so happy to find out there would be a sequel, THE SECOND MRS. STROM. Well, Cecelia's story wasn't over yet, so look out for WHAT THE NANNY SAW this fall!

Lizzy is working as a nanny for a family who takes advantage of her. The mom is either drunk or sleeping off a hangover, the dad is lewd and inappropriate, and the kids, except for one, are all entitled brats. Lizzy needs more from her life, and she finds her purpose when she meets Cecelia, a frazzled new mom, in a coffee shop. Cecelia is instantly taken with the young woman, and after performing her due diligence, hires her. But what Cecelia doesn't know is that she didn't meet Lizzie by chance. Someone engineered it to get close to Cecelia and her baby girl.

Lizzy had a compelling backstory, so much so that I hope we get a book about her past. I wanted more of a presence from Paul, who was very much in the background in this installment; however, I think the door is open for us to hear more about him!

Thank you to Bookouture and Thriller Book Lovers: The Pulse for this much-anticipated early read. At the time this review was written, this title was expected to publish November 13, 2024.

having now read this book I realsie it's part of a series so I am playing catch up, that said this is a creepy and sinister tale, telling the story of Cecelia who hires Lizzie as a nanny for baby Peyton.

It is a pacy read and although I did guess during the book due to the 'clues' what was going to happen I found this an incredible book.

The author is a great storyteller and I was kept on tenterhooks. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series but if they are as good as this one I am in for a treat... I loved it...

Wowzer! A popcorn thriller that will have you flying through the pages. Cecilia is a little overwhelmed taking care of her baby -Peyton. She meets Lizzie by accident at a coffee shop and this encounter will change both of their lives. Lizzie is a nanny that has a plan. Mr Johnson gives the ick factor a whole new level of creepy dads. Lizzie can't get out of that house fast enough although you feel sorry for those kids.

Lizzie has a troubled past but believes she is a great nanny and can take care of Peyton. She acts so sweet and innocent but in reality she ulterior motives. It so addicting to read as you want to know what happens next. Cecilia is a little paranoid but given Paul is out of prison she has reason to be on edge.

This is set up for hopefully a third in the series?

Thanks NetGalley for the free ARC! I’m sorry to say, I found this novel quite mediocre. Kaira Rouda is one of my favorite authors and I was expecting her signature dark humor and quirky characters, but I felt the protagonist this novel was just always angry and unreasonable. I didn’t know this is the sequel to The Second Mrs. Strom, which I unfortunately haven’t read yet…
This is my honest opinion and I’m leaving my review voluntarily.

“What the Nanny Saw” is technically a sequel to Kaira Rouda’s other books. While this book can be read as a stand-alone, it is slightly stronger if you have read at least the first book in this series (“Best Wife Ever”). Ms. Rouda does a good job of filling in the backstory, but I didn’t realize this was a sequel when I requested it but will admit that the filling in did help remind me why the name of the main character was so familiar. Anyway, this story is a dual POV book told from Cecilia, new Mom to Peyton, and Lizzie, a nanny. Cecilia is very private - yet also very trustworthy - and rather spur of the moment hires Lizzie. Lizzie isn’t all she appears to be - though she is an excellent carer for Peyton. When Cecilia begins receiving threatening messages, who is sending them - the ex-boyfriend, the former husband, or is it Lizzie herself? This was a really fast read for me and in Ms. Rouda’s style it held my attention and was a pretty fun ride. I was wondering what Lizzie’s game was - though it was spelled out pretty quickly from the beginning - though I did suspect a few things with other characters too. I found a few things a bit odd, but if you can ignore those, it was an entertaining read.
