There were parts in this book that made me think and see things differently which were really interesting while there were parts that didn't talked to me at all. The overall description of an underconfident person and how to "solve it" was for me a little too narrow/ too lightly describe and I would have liked more in depth description of internal psychological struggles that underconfident persons have and how to fight them with maybe more "to do" exercises than only writing. I also felt disappointed that I didn't recognize myself more in the book (although I am for sure an underconfident person). Thank you The School of Life for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
The School of Life, by far, has satisfied me and delivers the promise frok its title. I feel like this book helps me solve my confidence problem in a systematic way. I get deeper understanding of what caused underconfidence, and how I can get that confidence back. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC ❤️
The Confidence Workbook by The School of Life begins with a series of questions to take stock of your own level of confidence, and then there's a pledge to sign and date, keeping you accountable to this work for yourself.
Then, the book covers possible root causes for lack of confidence. I found these very eye-opening. At this point, I felt the rest of the book would be promising and worthwhile.
The areas of life covered in each chapter are very thoughtful and are right on target for the personal work I would like to do. If you truly struggle with confidence, I believe you won't be disappointed in this book. I'm looking forward to going back through the prompts and exercises.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this book overall. The advice makes you think and often raises good points. However some if the advice went a bit too far for me and I can’t image starting some of the suggested topics if conversation. Interesting though.
A gentle approach to teaching one to learn to trust their own value and being. A productive workbook with prompts that will make you think deeply, but doesn't feel overwhelming. Feels reasonable.
this was lovely but felt more to me to be half about confidence and half about trauma; whilst the two are undoubtedly untangled, one thing that I took from this was that I am certainly not an unconfident person.
This book is really detailed! More detailed than most other workbooks/journals I have seen.
I also liked the information in each section of the book too. It was very thorough and helped when filling out the sections.
There were of course some things in the workbook that were not always relevant eg. "being frightened to put your hand up and ask for the toilet in school"
It was also great that the questions were not repetitive (like some other books of this nature)
Overall really detailed, and really thought provoking.
A book that you can confidently use to build, regain or boost your confidence.
A book that you can easily gift or recommend to someone.
A book that is well-designed, focused and well-written (the questions).
Another great book by The School of Life.
I liked this book very much, it's like she's asking the right questions in the right way.
In the way she asks the questions, you do not have the feeling that you MUST answer, but that they WANT to answer the questions.
When this book is on the market, I will definitely buy it and refill it.
