The story hooked me from the title, this was a brilliant blend of cute art and dark themes. I absolutely loved the art work it works so perfectly and is so eye catching there wasn’t a single page I didn’t look at in awe because It was so detailed and simple idk how to describe it just *chefs kiss*

If you are even slightly a fan of the Cult of the Lamb video game, you will love the graphic novel. I love the contrast between the super cute almost chibi artwork combined with the gore and darkness of the story. It also seems to follow the game pretty closely, although it has been awhile since I've played it. Definitely a fun read.

I loved the video game that this graphic novel is based on. This graphic novel did not disappoint. It had everything I would want from a Cult of the Lamb book. It kept the same feel and humor of the video game but in a different media. If you haven't played the video game it does give a brief introduction to the world so you wouldn't be lost. I would highly recommend reading this if you love the world of Cult of the Lamb! The art style is exactly the same as the game, so it doesn't feel disconnected.

Well this was a cute and badass surprise! I've never actually played the game even though I really want to (arachnophobia + spider boss doesn't mess well xD) so I did actually go into this mostly blind, and I really enjoyed it! It does have that "video game" feel to it, but not in a bad way at all.

Characters felt suprisingly developed, I loved Nana a lot, and even Lamb themselves I was rooting for. For a character that's meant to be a blank slate for players to make who they want, Lamb really does make for a compelling main character!

The plot was suprisingly fun as well, it did feel a little light on the action specifically, but it was actually quite emotional and I absolutely need to know what happens next!! I really do think this is a good comic for both those that like a cartoony darker story and those that are fans of the game. There's certainly something for everyone here!

We start the book of with our little lamb mc being sacrificed, in the afterlife they meet a deity who said AND I QUOTE “all i ask is for you to start a cult in my name, do we have a deal?”
To which the lamb says “oh absolutely” like that’s not a crazy thing to ask😀 and from there it’s a spiral into insanity.
I love the game and specifically the art style of it and I’m so happy it’s very similar in this book!
It’s a very good blend of gruesome and cute in both story and art.

this was cute! I looove the game and it felt close enough to the gameplay where I enjoyed it but wasn't bored considering I already knew the plot. the art style was also very very good.

Cult of the Lamb: The First Verse by Alex Paknadel is the first volume in a graphic novel series based on the popular Nintendo Switch game Cult of the Lamb. Much like the game, you follow the story of Lamb, the last of their kind, an innocent who has been unwillingly sacrificed by the Bishops of the Old Faith to stop a prophecy from being fulfilled. Unfortunately for the Bishops, Lamb is given a second chance at life and vengeance from a mysterious chained heretic. The price? Starting a cult in the heretic's name. Thus begins this tale of life and death, devotion and hatred, loyalty and betrayal, and fate.

This graphic novel adaptation was absolutely fantastic. As a lover of the game, I found it to be both a refresher to what I already knew and a wildly entertaining supplement with new insights into the universe. The illustrations are adorable, macabre, and often adorably macabre. Troy Little (illustrator) nails the art style, and Nick Filardi (colorist) delights with a color palette that mesmerizes and perfectly matches the tone of each scene. If you aren't a gamer, don't fret. The story requires no previous knowledge of the game or characters to be understood or enjoyed.

I'm impatiently looking forward to devouring Volume 2.

I have actually never played the game myself, but heard a great deal about it, so I cannot say too much about how the novel compares to the game, but the novel can easily stand on it's own, which is a plus.
We follow our main character Lamb, who is offered the chance to revenge their death in return for starting a cult in the name of an old god in order to overthrow the new gods. The stroy and it's characters were rich and had an interesting depth, and the drawing style is expresssively detailed, though in some parts a bit graphic, but still quite cute.
I highly reccommend this book to fans of the game, but even if you haven't played it (yet) the novel is really great on its own as well! I'm already looking forward to the next volume to see where the story leads us and what dicisions Lamb makes regarding the way they want to lead their cult.

Let me start by saying the artwork in this is absolutely gorgeous. I fell in love with the art style while playing, and seeing it in comic format is amazing.

Unfortunately the storytelling in terms of pacing and major plot points felt a little stilted to me. It was all a bit awkward and detached, and somehow while following the game's plot it did not feel like it followed the plot I knew at all.

I have high hopes for the next few comics to build on volume 1 as a prologue, and will keep my eye out for new releases - hope you will do the same, as this is very adorable and memorable!

I do not know the game so my review is based entirely upon the reading experience. I loved the aesthetics of this graphic novel & the story was quite funny: the cute lamb is sent back from the afterlife to start a new cult. Funny! Overall I was a bit bored because the story was quite predictable but I'd probably pick up the sequel or check out the game. It's a bit unhinged and I like it.

I was really excited for the game when it came out so I was ecstatic to learn it was being turned in the a graphic novel! I think it tells the beginning of the game well. It's a nice refresher for people who have played the game and it's easy to follow for people who haven't. I will always love the art style they chose for this game and novel as well! I did think that Lamb strayed from his character a little. I didn't get far in the game so that might just be that I didn't get far enough. He just seems to go crazy with making sure he's no betrayed and stops taking care of everyone.
Still an amazing graphic novel that I highly recommend for loves of the game and people who are curious!

I am not super sure what to do with this manga, if we're being honest.

I like the game Cult of the Lamb, and I especially love that it's a small company and they're very dedicated to their player base. I want to encourage them as much as possible.

This book wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, although while I thought it would be more like the game, I know that's unrealistic. This manga had very high stakes a lot, very action packed and it put a lot of emphasis on the primary characters. It was good! But I wouldn't say it was mild altering or a must have. It's a nice addition to the games accessibility, since it can bring in non gamers and such, especially since the art is adorable.

I really don't have anything bad to say about it, it was good, but it was very middle ground for me.

I absolutely love playing Cult of the Lamb on my switch. So when I saw it I as going to be a graphic novel I had to read it.

This did not disappoint. It started similar to the game. Obviously, in the game you’re able to make the choices yourself on how you’ll lead your cult, in this it’s determined. But I’m loving seeing some depth to the followers.

I will definitely continue this series.

I'm aware of the Cult of the Lamb game and the fandom around it. For me, this was a good introduction into the world of it and i liked how they story was written and paced. The art style was really nice and there were some really beautiful panels in there. I didn't 100% love the story but i feel if i was a fan i might have enjoyed this more. It was good but not a series i feel like i need to continue religiously.

I have been intrigued by the adorable art this game has so I jumped at the chance to see how it translated into a graphic novel. The art, at least, continues to be adorably dark.
Now, I've never actually played the game so I'm basing this on what little I know of it, but it feels like this is the story of what happens between the violent adventures Lamb goes on in the game. It's more about the story and the characters than the fights and adventure. I loved that and feel like we get enough of the general background and moments of violence to tie it into the game's story.
Even knowing nothing about the game, it's a great story.

I've only vaguely played this game, although I've watched my friend play a lot of it, but reading this is making me excited to pick the game back up. The cute illustrations mesh perfectly with the sinister/dark themes that the game and this book both contain. I can't wait to read more!

For anyone who is a fan of the same titled game, this graphic novel series would be for you. Also for generally everyone who hasn’t played it and wants an inkling of what awaits one.
I love that you get such a big insight into the characters who you encounter in the game and how deep the lore actually gets. It is beautiful.

When I saw this one on NetGalley I had to request it right then and there. I love The Cult of The Lamb, it is an amazing game, and it is the one I am constantly pushing at everyone. It is brilliant and it is nice, and since it is farming + roguelike it could appeal to a lot of different people. And the graphic is the cutest thing ever, it is the perfect balance between cute as heck and creepy as hell, and I am in love! (And by the way, they have recently added the co-op option and it is *chef’s kiss*. )But it’s not only that! You are a cute little lamb with a killer strike and your mission is to form a cult! It is bonkers! It is cute! It is the best! So… obviously, how could I resist the graphic novel??

And the graphic novel is just so cute! If you are familiar with the game the story of this volume would not surprise you, because it is basically the beginning of the game. Sure, there are some new things in there, and there is more character development (especially for Ratau) and we meet some followers with their own stories, backgrounds, and personalities. It is expanded and you get some in-depth that is not present in the game (for obvious reasons), but basically, as far as plotlines go, you already know what is happening. If you are not familiar with the game, you get to discover how and why a cute little lamb is now the head of a cult who worships him, and why he is going around slaying the creatures of the different realms around them.

The art is the same as in the game, but better! I hope this makes sense. The illustrator did an amazing job here, and you get to see more colors and more details, and every page is a work of art. It is just so beautiful! And, again, it is the perfect blend between creepy and cute. It is pure bliss!

My only complaint is that at the beginning we get some witty vibes, it is funny (there is a conversation between the lamb and an acolyte that is pure gold) but these vibes do not keep up for the whole book. They are just at the beginning, and then they disappear. But I am a sucker for humor and I think that here it would have done wonders. But still, I had fun reading it and it is a feast for the eyes. So yeah, I am happy to have read it, and I am recommending it to you because it is just too cute/creepy to pass! You need it in your life!

As someone who has played the game this version of events is really interesting. Seeing the impact of followers and their choices is also cool. The art is a little busy for my taste but the panel design is very cool.
