K.L. Slaters books are always so good! I couldn’t put this down once I started it. There were so many good twists. I did find the book to be kind of long but I still enjoyed it. Thank you NetGalley, K.L. And Bookouture for the ARC!

The Married Man

Riveting, suspenseful and shocking. The Married Man by K.L. Slater grabbed my attention from the very first page until the last. The plot is complex, the characters entertaining, and the twists are well thought out and unpredictable. Told from multiple POVs and dual time lines this fast paced story will keep you entertained until the very end.

Single parent Liv is struggling as she tries to raise her son Maddox, after the disappearance of her husband 11 years earlier. Now 15, Maddox is changing and the once sweet boy is becoming distant and evasive. The local police believe Maddox is involved in a gang drug ring that is trying to infiltrate their village. Could this be the reason Maddox is so sullen?

Kait is married to Daniel and pregnant with their first child. But out of the blue, Daniel begins acting suspicious and shady. Kait assumes the worst, thinking Daniel is having an affair. But what Kait uncovers is much worse! Her life suddenly becomes connected to Liv’s in the most unimaginable way.

The Married Man is the 8th book I have read by K.L. Slater, and like its predecessors, it was fantastic. If you are looking for a psychological thriller with a complex plot that pulls you in, with twists and turns I promise you won’t see coming, then look no further. The Married Man is just the book for you.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for my e-arc.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book from Bookouture and NetGalley.

I have recently discovered K.L. Slater's work and this book was another page turner. Why did Liv's husband disappear and why has the money not appeared in her bank account as agreed? I liked how the author played with who our sympathies laid with based on our preconceptions.

My favourite quote:

"Deep down I still felt as if there was a sheet of glass between us, you know? Like he was forcing how he felt on some level."

Two people who made apart to each other for a better life one day. However, not everything always goes as planned and can have serious consequences. This book had me guessing and guessing all the way through

I missed the deadline for adding this book to my Kindle folder, so I was forced to read it solely on my iPhone through the NetGalley app. The fact that I was reading this book on such a small device didn't stop me from wanting to read it.

This book was entertaining, but it wasn't very easy to keep up with the details of who did what throughout it. But I think that was more of an ME than a book issue. The book states who the narrator is at the beginning of each chapter.

However, there were so many unexpected twists throughout the book that I couldn't help but want to see the outcome. It did not end the way I expected it to!

If you can read this book from beginning to end in a few days, I'm confident you'll truly have fun reading The Married Man.

What a tangled web of lies and betrayal! The Married Man is a slow-burn psychological thriller that sneaks up on you before throwing you headfirst into a whirlwind of secrets and shocking twists. K.L. Slater masterfully builds tension, and while the first few chapters feel like a simmering pot, once it boils, it really boils.

Told through multiple perspectives, the story gives readers a voyeuristic peek into the tangled emotions and motivations of the main players. This dual narrative worked brilliantly, pulling me deeper into the plot and giving just enough breadcrumbs to keep me guessing. And wow, the payoff was worth it. The twists are clever, some jaw-dropping, and Slater knows how to land an emotional punch.

What really stood out was the balance between the drama and the suspense—there’s a real emotional core here with the mother-son relationship, which added depth to the unfolding chaos. Yes, the opening is slower-paced, but hang in there—it’s worth the investment.

Perfect for fans of thrillers where nothing is as it seems and trust is a luxury no one can afford. I’ve already earmarked K.L. Slater’s next release. If you’re after a gripping read that’ll keep you up at night, this one’s for you.

WOW! I was not expecting the twist and turns in this book! This was such a great read and kept me turning the pages. K.L Slater killed this book! Liv and her husband Rich came up with a plan to fake his death for both of them to be set up for the rest of their lives. They were doing all of this for their son Maddox. Several years later when he was presumed dead the money was supposed to hit Liv's account but didn't. Kait is married to Danielle who has a big resemblance to Rich. Is it Rich back from the dead? How do all these characters tie into each other? You have to read it to find out!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Sadly this book was a real let down. I struggled to connect with the characters who all seemed pretty one dimensional & it really went on far longer than I felt was necessary. Usually I am a big fan of K.L. Slater but this did not seem to be up to her standards at all. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review tis book- even if it was disappointing!

When I see a book by K.L. Slater, I know I'm in for a good time. Every single book I have read by the author has been excellent. Her latest, The Married Man was as good as I had hoped. I was intrigued from page one and the story kept my interest from start to finish.

As I often mention, I dont like seeing the same plot repeatedly so when I read a book where the storyline is something I haven't seen before, it makes me happy.

Synopsis:

Everyone thinks my husband is dead. Just like we planned…

Eleven years ago, my husband disappeared. Eleven long hard years I waited, my heart breaking for our son, who didn’t know his father was coming back.

Today, my hands shake as I try to understand what I’ve just learned: my husband has a new wife. This wasn’t part of our plan.

Eleven years ago, my husband made a terrible mistake. I sacrificed everything to help him fix it. But now he’s put our son and me in danger again.

We had a plan. He broke the rules. But who will pay the price?

Liv's husband disappeared for 12 years as planned, but not with someone else who is pregnant, has he cheated on her? Told in different viewpoints this is a gripping novel with plenty if twist along the way. Loved the characters though not always loveable. Thanks to Bookoutre and Netgalley for this review ARC.

The plot started well and I was intrigued to find out more about Liv and Kait's entwined lives. The story unfolds as in the blurb but I've got to be honest and say that at about 60% I started skipping pages. It just dragged in the middle and unfortunately I didn't connect with the main characters. Maddox, Liv's son, is the person who I felt most sympathy for and we got to know more about him but the others were a little too shallow. So disliking the other characters didn't help to keep my interest. I think the plot was a good one though, so maybe it was just me.

I really enjoyed this twisty read. It centers on 2 women, Liv and Kait. Liv's husband disappeared 12 years ago without a trace; and Kait is pregnant and worried that her husband is cheating on her. You think you have it all figured out as you get to know these ladies' circumstances, but of course this author always throws in twist after twist (not to mention believable red herrings)! The chapters alternate between the POVs of Liv and Kait, as well as Liv's son Maddox.

Both of these main characters are well-developed and felt believable, even when they made decisions that I wouldn't personally take. Liv's son, Maddox, who is a well-written character, too, and I felt for him as he navigated life as a teenager. The book does a great job of weaving these 2 separate stories together until they come to a head, but never leaves any loose ends behind. There were a couple twists that I did not see coming, even when I thought I knew what was happening. The ending of the book was well-done, as well, and I thought it tied up the story nicely.

Overall, this was a twisty read filled with characters with whom I could empathize. I'd recommend it to those who enjoy psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So your husband disappeared 12 years ago and now just when the end plan was due it all gone wrong. This is a bit of a sliw burn with another story told by another pregnant lady who suspects of having a double life. Then There rhe 16 year old son who was left behind. As the story interwoven the action became fast paced and full of red herrings. The final reveal was a tad too perfect bur was a fantastic read
I throughly enjoyed this once it hot gping. Tge charscters were well written and their arc were well spot on. Sll the herrings were explained and it did seem realistic but a tad hollywood film.
Thank you netgallery and publisher and author

The Married Man by K.L. Slater is another triumph from this always compulsively readable and bankable author.

Liv's husband disappears one day while on an outing with the couple's young son, Maddox. Eleven years later, Liv is continuing to raise Maddox on her own, and it has not always been easy. Meanwhile, a woman named Kait awaits the birth of her child, but suspects that her husband is having an affair. What she discovers will connect her to Liv and Maddox, and possibly put them all in jeopardy.

This was a twisty tale. I always enjoy a narrative that moves between the past and present, and is told from multiple points of view. I have yet to be disappointed by the always clever and accomplished K.L. Slater.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

K L Slater has done it again with a great twisty psychological thriller. I really enjoy the way she builds her characters development which always takes precedence in the first 1/3 of the book. The plot is still there and it gathers pace as the story unfolds. I always feel that I have things all figured out but as always, we have a few twists that come towards the last 1/3 of the book. This makes The Married Man and intriguing, medium paced page turner. Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for this eArc of The Married Man

Claire Corbett narrated The Married Man audiobook and love her voice as it suits these type of domestic thrillers.
