Thank you, Netgalley and the publisher for an arc. Rating: 3.5 stars🌟
The premise of this story is fantastic, and Anna truly shines as a character. I absolutely loved the dynamic between John and Anna; their relationship was the highlight of the book! Their interactions had me giggling more than once.
However, the execution of the storyline felt a bit uneven at times, which affected the overall flow. Despite this, the charm of John and Anna’s relationship kept me engaged. Overall, it was a cute read with memorable moments!
I really like it, enjoy the set up , how it develops. The characters are fun and easy to get. The workplace set up was fun . Definitely a cute rom com
This was a cute romance and it was an easy and enjoyable read for the most part. I did find that there were some parts that it was slow but overall I think it was a cute romance and good read for those who want a fun romance
This was one of the books that I picked solely based on the cover and the subtitle. And my god did all the tropes play our perfectly!
A quick and easy read, Anna is trying to restart her career although her ex husband seems to be blocking her moves.
I enjoyed how Anna met John at the bar, how she helped him and in return he helped her get back into directing. The film terms were a little heavy if you’re not into movies.
The story was evenly paced, there’s miscommunication between the MCs which isn’t a favourite of mine, but the ending makes up for it.
A solid 3 star book to pick up as a palette cleanser.
This was a good read! I haven't read many age gap books before this, but very good and entertaining. Very easy and quick read, if you're just getting back into reading or decided to pick up reading recently for a hobby then this Is a good quick book to start with. It is an age gap romance with a movie director and a male main character who wears many hats in the career world. This is a he falls first romance and I enjoyed that part as I don't read many of those where the man falls first.
I found it a little confusing I’m not sure if it because of the film references which I didn’t know or what but I was really confused throughout it. I also didn’t really like the miscommunication troupe but that’s more of a personal issue than the books. I did like the romance between the two characters I love the age gap with her being old that’s by favourite type of age gap.
Leni Kauffman's cover is what lead me to pick up this book. I have not been disappointed when using this method to select my reads. Given that, I went into this book with zero expectations and ended up having the best time. I totally did not see myself almost giving this book five stars, but I came close. This insane feeling of overwhelming satisfaction when I finished came close to pushing me over. Unfortunately, its only four because it could have benefitted from some editing. Cannot overstate how much I recommend this book.
Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for providing an eARC for a honest review.
I was really looking forward this book between the cover and the book summary. However, from chapter one it kind of feel flat for me. The language was more proses than I usually care for. The introduce of the MMC didn't give me much to grab on to. DNF.
Thank you, Net Galley for the opportunity to read this.
I went in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I thought that Anna and John were both well-written and acted / thought appropriately for their respective ages. There were times when the pacing was off and the dialogue was a little hard to follow, but overall I enjoyed the story and the HEA.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for a copy of this book.

Reel Love By Evie Browning
⭐⭐
I was intrigued by the cover and title of this book. Expecting a cute, cosy read. Which, to be fair, it was, but it was also incredibly boring and slow. I got to 48% before I ended up DNF and even to get to 48% took a while.
This is definitely not for me.
Anna is a struggling director whose ex husband has been sabotaging her career since they broke up. John is trying to sell his screen play and doesn't want to sacrifice his vision. They end up working together on a movie that is falling apart. The two characters are very sweet with each other. My problem is with the plot. Not much happens the whole time. It is very predictable.
I want to thank NetGalley for having this available to read!
I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book tbh.. I did not really connect with anyone at all and found it a bit repetitive at times..
This was a sweet, fun and quick to read romcom. I'm not the person who laughs while reading romcoms but even I had to giggle sometimes while reading the book. The storyline is a bit predictable but that isn't a bad thing when it comes to romcoms. I got the happy ending I was hoping for.
Easy to read and fairly light, Reel Love follows down on her luck director Anna, and aspiring scriptwriter John as they navigate the machinations of Hollywood.
It's a simple and somewhat predictable story with a sweet, supportive MMC, a willful FMC and her nasty piece of work ex-husband. I was disappointed that I predicted most of what was coming, and hoped for a suprise or twist to keep things interesting. However, if you're looking for an easy read, with some Hollywood intrigue and a slight more 'real' feel than a lot of romance novels, this is a nice little option.
Reel Love is a charming and poignant love story that will resonate with anyone who has ever had to choose between their passion and their heart. Browning brings Hollywood to life in a way that feels both glamorous and grounded, and her characters are layered and relatable. This novel is perfect for fans of contemporary romance who enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the entertainment industry, as well as those who appreciate stories about the complexities of balancing love and ambition.
With its authentic characters, compelling romance, and emotional depth, Reel Love is a must-read for anyone looking for a romance that feels real, inspiring, and thoroughly engaging.
This was cute! It took a while for me to get into, and I wasn’t a massive fan of Anna as a character, but the romance was cute and I enjoyed the little nods to Hollywood and movie making. It was quick paced and I finished it in one setting, the plot was fun and I enjoyed John as a character a lot too!
Thank you for the e-ARC.
This was a fun rom-com read! I loved Anna and John (movie director x screenwriter) from their first interaction. I found it to be cute. They work together to save a vampire movie from crashing. There's forced proximity, age gap, workplace romance and he falls first and harder. Many of the things were predictable but it is a fun and simple read.
This was a fun read! Anna (movie director) and John (screenwriter) work together to save a vampire movie from crashing and burning. Oh, and they find this out after they already had a steamy hookup.
This book is written in the 3rd person and changes POV throughout the book. I always prefer first person writing, so this may have affected my personal score.
Read this if you like:
💫 Age gap
💫 Workplace romance
💫 He falls first
💫 Forced proximity
💫 Spicy scenes (🌶️🌶️)
Overall, the plot was predictable, but sometimes that’s not a bad thing!
If I could give half scores, I’d give 3.5 ⭐️ (would rather round up than down)
Thank you NetGalley and Evie for this ARC! So appreciated ☺️
Reel Love by Evie Browning is an age gap romance set in the film industry. This book is a SLOW burn story with lots of moments leading up to our love story.
Anna is a movie director. John is ... well he wants to be a director. He's currently a screenwriter working odd jobs while trying to find his way.
I loved the beginning of the book. Their meet cute was so sweet I felt like I was going to gush over their story. As the book progressed and we got more layers, I felt like I saw more realistic depictions than usual in a romance story. It felt like getting a glimpse into a real world variation than fiction -- which is fine. I simply haven't read anything else like it.
Overall, it's a good read and I'd recommend to my friends looking for something quick to enjoy one weekend. I will say the cover is ADORABLE and I am highly considering grabbing a copy for my trophy shelf.
Thank you NetGalley and Evie for the chance to read this book.
